Today is my last relatively cool day, until the sun hits the wall, so I’m enjoying the fresh air, which I love, while I can. I was so exhausted that I overslept and awakened two hours later than my norm, so I’m just working through, despite my frequent yawns. On the test, I am cancer free, my lungs are no more damaged from COPD that they were last year and are clear. Everything else is healthy. It was the best result I could have had, and they even apologized for not allowing me to play with the cat that did the CAT-scan.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:37 (average 5:52). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Lawrence On Ivanka Trump’s Absence On Border Children
More than one Republican has said that it’s ok for Republicans who disagree with Trump, like Ivanka, to justify supporting Trump too. Thank you, Lawrence, for deflating such a vile argument. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From YouTube (Vox Channel): What a new Supreme Court means for abortion
That explains it in terms that even a Republican could understand, unless they willfully misunderstand, as they so often do. RESIST!! VOTE BLUE!!
From NY Times: Pope Francis has declared the death penalty wrong in all cases, a definitive change in church teaching that is likely to challenge Catholic politicians, judges and officials who have argued that their church was not entirely opposed to capital punishment.
Before, church doctrine accepted the death penalty if it was “the only practicable way” to defend lives, an opening that some Catholics took as license to support capital punishment in many cases.
But Francis said executions were unacceptable in all cases because they are “an attack” on human dignity, the Vatican announced on Thursday, adding that the church would work “with determination” to abolish capital punishment worldwide.
Kudos to Pope Francis, an authentic Christian. Nominally Catholic politicians, who are really Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians, have lost their excuse to demand that we execute another non-white jay-walker for Republican Supply-side Jeebus!

WTG Cousin Pole !

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Actually, Republicans probably stink even worse than the skunk!
MSNBC: We’re a land of immigrants, but dt doesn’t realize that or even care. Pretty two-faced coming from overseas to this Nation, and leading a privileged life, and not giving an iota of concern at what’s happening at the border or to the folks in PR!, every day.
Vox: Women should be allowed to make this personal decision by themselves. It’s very difficult (transportation/clinic wise to get one in the state I live in. btw…..didn’t one of dt’s mistress’s get an abortion?
jw…
NYT: I love this pope. He’s way ahead of the times. Thank the Lord.
Cartoon: I’d take a skunk over a Repuglicon any day of the week. (actually, I had a friend who had 2 skunks years ago, and they were the cutest lil things ever In FL). and de-scented. Make good pets, imho.
GREAT news, TC! Happy, happy, happy!! Hope that you catch up on your rest, take care, and Thanks!!
6:40 Great roofing provided [a] your house is built to support the weight, and [b] it doesn’t hail where you live.
MSNBC – Come on, Lawrence. She might have been able to do something to help find kids, yes. But she knows better than anyone that, no one, not even she, could say or do or show anything that would cause Donald Trump to feel empathy for a microsecond. She’s old enough that she’s already emancipated, and I don’t think an adult can divorce a parent in any state – and its doubtful that even that would make a dent in his ego. Just quitting certainly wouldn’t. Pathetic as it is, this may well be the best she can do. Not that that excuses any other Republican, of course.
Vox – “Wilfully misunderstand.” didn’t you just define “Republican”?
NYT – I read this the other day with delight, but not sprprise.I’m not quite sure it is getting the media attention it should, at least in the US. But it’s not going away at least.
Cartoon – I had a pet skunk myself for a while. His name was Hyacinth, and he was descented, but needed baths periodically as do dogs, for instance. He was very cute indeed, and good with children (not that I had any, but I did lead a Girl Scout Troop for a while.) He did not use his voice, at all, ever, but he communicated very loudly by stamping. Being unusual, they need a lot of research to care for properly, and, although I did a lot, I could have cared for him better than I did. I would not today have another, out of fear of making a hurtful mistake. But for someone knowledgeable, they are great companions.
After a lot of agonizing, I have not been able to find a topic to do an “everyday Erinyes” this week. At a point when even Mother Jones is now publishing feel-good stories to keep us going, maybe that is a good thing. At any rate, it is a thing. Next week.
You made up for it in advance.
Why wasn’t Ivanka voicing her “maternal concern” weeks or even months ago?
WOOHOO!!!!
Excellent results TC, i’m so happy for you!!!!
HAPPY DANCE!
MSNBC: Lawrence will not let any of the Drumpfs get away with hypocrisy, not even when they seem to disagree with Drumpf himself. Good on ya, Lawrence, keep it up.
Vox: According to this video 75% of the American people do not want Roe v Wade overturned. So how is it possible that in a democracy abortion rights are threatened? Sigh…I know, I know. Republicans and Drumpf.
Vote blue in November, your life depends on it.
NYT: The news in Europe and Australia, where the death penalty has disappeared a long time ago, paid a lot of attention to Pope Francis’ declaration, but apparently the news coverage of this humane step forward by the Roman Catholic church has been below par. Now why doesn’t that surprise me?
Cartoon: I don’t think there is a skunk born yet with glands powerful enough to overcome the stench of one single Republican.
So glad to hear your as healthy as you can be, and in fact healthier than you’ve been in some time. You age well, TomCat.
Puzzle — 4:53 Fortunately for me, sasquatches live in the forest where the trees form a canopy of protection and there is no need for terracotta roof tiles.
MSNBC — The expression “all flash, no substance” certainly fits the lady. Words come cheap when you live a life of privilege as she does. She should put her money where her mouth is if she feels so vehemently.
Vox — Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY): “What is at stake is women’s freedom!” — AMEN!!! Republicans would like to keep women barefoot, pregnant and walking 2 steps behind men (when they’re not in the kitchen)! That is over half the US population. The Suffragette movement started with the right to vote but is not over by a long shot! Women need to stand up to Republicans with their vote and take the struggle to the next level.
NY Times — Isn’t it interesting how Republicans can be pro life (unless it is their mistresses unborn child) on one hand and pro death on the other. I guess IOKIYAR. Kudos to Pope Francis for coming out against the death penalty. Now about abortion?
Cartoon — You’ll need to have a whole lot of Cousin Poles to cover the stench of Republicans!
Good news on the health front Puddy Tat! Cancer free and clear lungs!!! WTG!!! It has been a long haul but you persisted and won!!! Being cat is where it’s at!!! As to the cat who did the cat scan, I am sure that he has a long line up of people wanting to play with him. The weather here is sunny with temps at 18C (64F) and 73% humidity. Projected high 23C (73F) which I hope holds as I hate the heat. Stay cool!!!
Thanks and hugs to all!
