It’s a busy day here in the CatBox.  The last documents I needed to prepare my taxes came in today, so I need to get ready to do them on Sunday.  It’s Monthly Report day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:49 (average 5:46).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Inequality Media Channel): The Con Mannity Show

Who would have imagined that the Reich on the left could be a comedian, while also being right! RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Right-wing debunking the right-wing: Planned Parenthood edition

Republicans normally keep repeating the same lies over and over again until apathetic voters accept them as true. RESIST!!

From NY Times: The Environmental Protection Agency signed off last March on a Canadian energy company’s pipeline-expansion plan at the same time that the E.P.A. chief, Scott Pruitt, was renting a condominium linked to the energy company’s powerful Washington lobbying firm.

Both the E.P.A. and the lobbying firm dispute that there was any connection between the agency’s action and the condo rental, for which Mr. Pruitt was paying $50 a night.

For Republicans, government is a for-profit investment. RESIST!!

From The New Yorker:

Former White House staffers who were fired by Donald Trump held their first reunion on Easter Sunday in Houston’s Astrodome.

The event, which drew a crowd of approximately sixty-five thousand people, had been organized by the recently axed Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.

“The turnout is just outstanding,” a beaming Tillerson told reporters. “Of course, most of these people didn’t have anything else to do.”

I’m calling BS on you, Andy! The Astrodome isn’t big enough. RESIST!!

Cartoon:

And he is what Republicans call too moderate.

  1. 5:06 I guess it stays up because it doesn’t have to bear any weight but its own. I always expect things that are just tied to slide down.

New Amy McGrath ad – priceless!

Got any good jokes? Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been in prison in Iran for tw years. Amnesty UK has been trying to get her released but not having any luck. Amnesty is now asking all to send jokes to at least cheer her up. Anyone on Twitter can use the hashtag ChooseLaughter, or if one isn’t, one can use this link.

Inequality – Robert Reich is having WAY too much fun with this! (I don’t believe WalMart doesn’t have an exclusive on Chia Donald, though.)

MM – Actually the country’s, indeed the world’s, biggest abortion provider is God (or nature, your choice). The vast majority of abortions are spontaneous abortions, or in other words miscarriages, including those where a fertilized egg is expelled before being implanted. Nicely put together, though. Hope it helps.

TNY – LMAO! Good one, Andy! (I assume the Astrodome didn’t have anything else to do either.)

Cartoon – Yeah. If anyone should know better …

    • So, I watched the McGrath video, and thought it was great.  Then, I noticed the Oprah interview with Thich Nhat Hanh, thumbnail, and watched that,as well.  It was wonderful, differently.  I do not know that others were “offered” that video, because last night I watched one with Herbie Hancock talking about Buddhism, and that might have set me up for the Oprah offering, but if you want to see one way to work on surviving the tDump era intact, it might help.  It was originally on Oprah’s “Soul dun day” show, if that helps you find it.

    • Amy McGrath rules! Thanks for posting, Joanne.

    • Go Amy!

      Kudos to those kids!

    • Amy McGrath — Good ad and funny with one of her kids “outing” himself!  Chant “Amy!  Amy!  Amy!  Amy! Amy! Amy!  Amy! Amy! Amy! …”.

Kids for now and the future — AMEN!!!  50 miles is an awesome feat!  I remember walking 26 miles in the Miles for Millions march in 1970 in 1 day.  I wonder if people along the route were moved to walk with them?  I know I would have walked with them as long as my knees would hold up, not to take away from their actions but in solidarity with them.  MLK Jr knew no race, no religious, no age or gender barriers in my opinion.  The sign at my church has a quote from MLK Jr this week which is so true.  When I am out later today, I’ll write it down and record it on an OT.

  2. MC: dt shouId watch this, really enjoyed this one!! Thank you, Mr. Reich!!

    MM: Like the ending…Huh!!

NYer: LOL. Anyone listen to dt’s rambling, incoherent speech at the WH Easter Egg Roll for the little ones?? Well, here it is: https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a19662690/trump-easter-egg-roll-speech/

    Cartoon: Ugh!! Noooo!

Hope that you have a relaxing evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

    *Joanne: Ms. McGrath ROCKS!!! ty!
Teens One day away!! How awesome is this? Pretty dam awesome!!

    • “The visual of the president telling a bunch of small children about how Big and Beautiful the military is going to be—thanks to that $700 billion—and how we’ve never had an economy like this, all while the Easter Bunny stands completely motionless next to him with his mouth permanently agape, is a nice microcosm of our bizarro world.” Which bunny is he talking about: the one on the right or the one on the left?

Seth Meyers had a wonderful take on it too:

    • Did he try to sell the kids MAGA hats?

  3. Old-school conservatives are two-faced hypocrites – and both of their mouths are mealy and forked-tongued. Shrink the deficit while increasing the “defense” budget without limit and giving the wealthy and mega-corporations all the tax breaks.

The same people who don’t want to pay for abortions don’t want to pay for welfare, food stamps, job training, affordable housing, Medicaid, infrastructure, mental health care, etc.

NYT: Seriously – do you really think there was a conflict of interest here? 😉

TNY: I agree, TomCat, that even the Astrodome wouldn’t be big enough. Maybe they should have rented the Rose Bowl, which has a capacity of almost 91,000.

    Cartoon: Bull’s eye.

  4. IMC: wonderful!  and that is no con job.
MM: For the sake of religious agendas, the right will lie until Jesus explodes in spontaneous consternation!
NYT: Yes, I’ll accept that there was no literal connection between the $50.00 rental and Pruitt’s agency’s action.  It was all the other inappropriate things going on that influenced any action.  Boy, those guys are so very, very, clever to phrase it so clearly, yuh jus’ gotta’ admire them, doncha? Bags of scuz, they all are.
New Yorker:  Did they have to meet there because that ungodly wealthy, hypocritical minister would not open his church, after finally cleaning out the filth he was afraid the hurricane Maria refugees would bring in?
‘Toon: The good ole GOP just ain’t what it used to be, is it?

  5. IM: Fantastic. Reich the comedian is so funny. Too bad no true conservative will watch this. Reich is so straight forward even they couldn’t miss the clue and would finally abandon Drumpf. Loved the bad wig, by the way. Just as unconvincing as Drumpf’s comb-over. But I don’t think Amazon will be selling Chia Donald for very long, do you?

MM: Has Ron Ferguson (the debunker) been fired yet? ?

NYT: As has been stated so many times before here: Follow the Money, it’s a sure way to expose all the greasy, greedy, Republican dealings in this cabinet. The link is not proven? I’ll believe it when I can rent that same condominium for $50 a night too. You can’t even rent a broom closet next to the toilets for that money. Both sides in this deal are so tight and greedy on money they couldn’t come up with a believable amount of rent to cover their tracks. ?

TNY: Tillerson is such an optimist. “[Next year w]e’re going to need a bigger stadium.”  There isn’t anyone left for Dumpf to fire, you dummy.

    Cartoon: Spot on.

  6. Thanks all.  Hugs! 35
