Watching Republican candidates this year, we have become accustomed to a wide variety of outrageous expression, running the gamut from inane to insane. But even within this set of misfits, this man is just vile.
On Sunday’s "Meet the Press," Tea Party darling and Colorado Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck made the outrageous claims that being gay was "a lifestyle choice" and that a case of rape was nothing more than "buyer’s remorse."
When asked by "Meet the Press" moderator David Gregory, Buck said he believed that being gay was a lifestyle choice; asked whether sexual orientation is determined at birth, Mr. Buck replied: “I think birth has an influence on it like alcoholism and other things, but I think that basically you have a choice.”
Adding insult to injury, Buck also expressed no regrets about his four-year-old characterization of an alleged rape as "buyer’s remorse."
Insisting that being gay is a “lifestyle choice,” simply disqualifies Buck from public office. Buck’s insensitivity towards rape victims only adds fuel to the fire, and speaks volumes against Buck serving the state in any capacity… [emphasis added]

That gayness is a lifestyle choice is a standard Republican lie. The proof that sexual orientation is innate is rock solid, so that is just run of the mill Republican hate. But the definition of rape as buyer’s remorse, and his refusal to recant on that statement, is so far beyond the pale that he is not fit for human association.

…gay was “a lifestyle choice” and that a case of rape was nothing more than “buyer’s remorse.”
I’m dumbfounded, that is just hate and ignorance.
Yeah, and he isn’t even in SC. 😉
I wonder if he’d been the victims of a male Detroit rapist who targeted young men about 10 years ago if he would still characterize it as buyers remorse. This man had about 15 victims before he was caught.
His remark is akin to Clayton Williams who was a McCain fundraiser who said that “if the rape is inevitable she should lay back and enjoy it.”
John McCain fund raising controversy
Clayton Williams raised over $300,000 for the 2008 John McCain presidential campaign. However, a fundraiser at Williams’ home for June 16, 2008 was abruptly rescheduled and relocated[7] after Williams’ controversial 1990 comments about rape were rediscovered and mentioned to the McCain campaign by ABC News. The campaign condemned the remarks, saying that they were “incredibly offensive”.[8] The campaign said it would not return the money Williams had raised, as it was donated by other individuals (wikipedia)
The Republicans have become more desperate since. I have heard zero condemnation from the right.
The numbers don’t look good for him here. But–out in the boonies his signs and the signs of all the rest of the nutter is all you see for the most part. Cowboys love dem crazy’s!
Fly, ever here in Oregon we have one like him: Art Ropbinson.
Can you just imagine what this country will look like if all the Tea Bag idiots ARE elected? If the Repukes DO take over? No one will have any rights for ANYTHING and ignorance will b “taught” in our schools, from Texas school books, of course. You Betcha! 😥
Judi, I can’t tell you how many hours I have invested to prevent that very thing. When I moveed over from Blogger, I had anticipated a mop-up operation to end the GOP. I had forgotten Democrats’ unique ability to form circular firing squads.
Disgusting. This misogynist homophobe shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near public office.
I would not want him as dog catcher. Even dawgs deserve better.
What a disgusting pig! He’s not even human much less fit for office. Where do they find these assholes? 😡
They have to scrape the bottom of the bottle to get people sufficiently misanthropic to support their economic policies.
What does this say about the once Grand ‘ole Party? That party is dead in the water and tea is a floatin’ down river! Damn these wingnuts are a disgrace to our great nation, and those who yip and yaw about them should go find an island to inhabit!
Grand Old Party. (Emphasis on old.) Proof positive that dementia is alive and well. Only a crazy would vote GOP.
why do we have so many crazy people in our country? Something is in the air we breathe….
Three words… Main Stream Media
Buck is another one of these “limited government” teawipes who wants to establish a Christian theocracy in America. Behind their George Washington wigs and their “We The People” signs, they’re trying to bring back the Salem Witch Trials. I hope voters will see through this before it’s too late.
So do I Tom. We have certainly publicized it to the best of our ability.
I could run as a trahbagger. The party as so low as to now be accepting people just released from the loony bin. Bug is about the eqalivnat as Christin only more ourrageds but more me. He might as well be a rapist himself.
Lisa, people just released from the loony bin do not deserve to be compared with Republicans. 🙂
Dammit equivalent. I hate when I spell shit wrong. .
It’s easy, Lisa. S-H-I-T 😈
