Even Fox Flummoxes Fiorina

Carly Fiorina has proven her worth by taking a once fine company and driving it to the doorstep of bankruptcy.  It should therefore be no surprise that she’s a perfect fit for the party of no, especially no new ideas.  But she was so intent on misrepresenting the old Republican standard of destroying the safety net for millions of Americans, that she could not even handle the softball approach of Chris Wallace.

18fiorina Touting her outisde, business-executive saavy, GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina (R-CA) constantly chants the GOP mantra to cut government spending. She even released a budget plan last month intended to prove that she’d “rein in out-of-control government spending.” But, in telling her constituents that she will cut government spending, Fiorina seems undaunted by one minor fact: she has no idea how.

Today on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace gave Fiorina a chance to lay out her actual plan. Touting her “tough, bottom-line business executive” motto, Wallace pointed out that Fiorina also wants “to extend all, all the Bush tax cuts which would add $4 trillion dollars to the deficit…where are you going to find $4 trillion dollars to cut?” But when Fiorina retreated to recycled response of government waste and an earmarks ban, a frustrated Wallace begged Fiorina seven times to “name one single entitlement expenditure you’re willing to cut” because “that’s where the money is.” Fiorina’s only response? “You’re asking a typical political question”…

…Watch it:

… In fact, the only “solution” Fiorina has offered is to defund the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — an agency that does not yet exist… [emphasis added]

What wallace wanted to do here was to get Fiorina to support slashing our safety net, because that’s what Faux Noise has been touting in its role as Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda.  Of course that’s what Fiorina intends to do, but she does not want voters to know that.  She did say one positive thing and that is to provide a tax cut for R&D spending, but I can only surmise that she lied.  Fiorina goose-steps in lock step with fellow Republicans, and they have already filibustered and blocked such a proposal.

We should not be surprised at the one cut she did suggest.  Republicans are afraid of Elizabeth Warren.

  1. Take my social Security, medicare and deny it to my wife when she reaches retirement age. Fuck it I will die sooner and save them about $25,000 a year. See it is my patriotic duty to die for them so they can continue to reap the rewards of their whoreish ways to corporate powers and thievery from the SS fund established by FDR which is still fully solvent though at least 2037. Besides who needs a bunch of broken down old hacks who do nothing but suck the teat they fed for their entire working life. According to the SS records i started paying in at age 14 with the last ten years two jobs that still didn’t get me anywhere near the cap. wouldn’t it be cheaper just to send a combat veteran to my house to put a bullet in my brain and solve the entitlement problem? As long as my wife is not billed for the bullet that would be one way to cut the deficit.

Is this what they want? Is this what Palin and her posse of teddy bears really want? Or do they just want us to pick up 90 cans of dog food for meals per month (Chinese canned of course) and swim the rivers to Mexico and Canada for health care? Is this what these titans of industry now wealthy enough to play at politics want? Look at what they outsourced while theyr an their business’ and you will understand, they do not care about numbers and deficits they care about titles and power and the ability to drastically affect what little quality of life the working poor have left them. That haven’t gotten all the money–YET.

  2. WTH?!?

Fiorina: “You’re asking a typical political question.”

Ahhh, Carly … sweetie … you’re RUNNING for a POLITICAL office, you twit.

  3. I’m not sure if it’s terrifying or reassuring that so many conservative candidates have no idea what they’re doing.

  4. I saw that interview yesterday. She basically had nothing to say that was anywhere near specific. You ain’t gonna find $4T in entitlements you dumb beeacth. It was a whole lotta vague nothingness. But at least Wallace tried to ask her the hard questions; I really can’t stand him, but he did ask her 7 times to answer the question, which of course she didn’t. 🙄

    • Wallace was trying to get her to join in promoting the Faux Noise meme to strip those who receive entitlement benefits of support. Had she said she would slash social security, he would have praised her for it.
