Day by day, I continue to improve, but I had to miss my morning nap, because I have Republicosis and am waiting for the Immodium AD to set in. Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb. My Broncos worship in Cincinnati, but the game is not televised here. May my Broncos eat some Trump-stripped kitties!!

Today’s took me 3:15 (average 4:24). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (Jeff Merkley Channel): Senator Merkley Calls for Immediate Action to Restore CHIP Funding
Every penny spent on saving children’s lives is a penny Republicans can’t give to a billionaire. RESIST!!
From Daily Kos: Republican Ohio state legislator Wes Goodman describes himself on his Twitter bio as "Christian. American. Conservative. Republican." The self-described “family values” conservative with a history of anti-LGBTQ stances has resigned after admitting he engaged in sex with a man in his Ohio office. From The Columbus Dispatch:
State Rep. Wes Goodman, who consistently touted his faith and conservative values, abruptly resigned late Tuesday after being confronted with evidence of inappropriate conduct with another man inside his Riffe Center office, the second Ohio lawmaker to fall within a month.
House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, R-Clarksville, met Tuesday afternoon with the Cardington Republican soon after the speaker became aware of an incident from weeks ago in the lawmaker’s office that, sources said, involved a male in a consensual situation.
Apparently someone witnessed the affair, and Republicans wasted no time demanding his resignation
What hypocrites Republicans are! Roy Moore is OK, but Goodman has to go. Would a some gent please give Roy Moore a BJ? RESIST!!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Senators Orrin Hatch & Sherrod Brown Get In Tax Reform Shouting Match
Hatch is such a lying sack of shit in this case. If he’s sick of the attacks, he should stop goose-stepping behind billionaires. RESIST!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
4:07 That is some weapons grade stink-eye.
Jeff – I have signed more petitions on this than I can even remember. This is so cruel, even for Republicans.
DKos – Oh. yeah. Kiddy-diddling they see as perfectly normal (as long as it’s a girl. (Barf bag alert: One Republican defended another at a frat once by saying “He didn’t do anything to that girl that the Lord didn’t make her for!”) But teh Gay? What morons (or should I say Moore-ons).
YouTube – Yes, I got an email from Sherrod on this. Sherrod stands behind everything he said. I can be charitable to Hatch by assuming that age has affected his brain to the degree that he now lives in an alternate reality.
Cartoon – Oh, you mean a 200,000 gallon leak. Barf bag necessary.
Merkley: So so, sad. repugs are so very mean and sick to do this. “Insurance coverage for more than 400,000 Texas children and pregnant women is in jeopardy after Congress failed to renew authorization for a federal program. Without federal funding, Texas has enough money for CHIP to last until February 2018, according to estimates by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.” *texas tribuneTimes that with 49 other states in the same situation for our people.
DK: Funny how in his bio, he said that he is ‘anti-LGBTQ’, but gets caught in the act. Come out of the closet, Dude, and Man up!!
MSNBC: Good for Mr. Brown!!! Thank gawd he stood up for us. Hatch has a sense of entitlement, doesn’t he, right alongside the repugs! ugh!!
Cartoon: Sad and horrible!!!
We play the Cardinals @noon. I’m hoping for a win. We’ll see. Best to your team too. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
Orrin Hatch is really starting to get on my nerves – even worse than usual.
I hope he does retire and Romney takes his place. I think Romney would be less of an ideologue than Hatch – at least I hope he would.
RMoney is as bad on economic matters.
Yesterday I had the joy of cleaning my gutters … for almost FOUR hours!
I have 4′ eaves, so I really don’t need gutters (had a friend who had his home designed that way & my architect liked the idea). But I ended up putting them over the garage because the driveway got too icy from the direct runoff. And over the bedroom wing because they didn’t do the grading correctly and I was getting water in the basement.
Unfortunately the longer bedroom wing section is right beneath a hickory tree, and so it fills up with hickory nuts. It’s a pain to do … literally: setup ladder – climb up – clean – climb down – empty bag of nuts out in the woods – move ladder – climb up – clean … for FOUR hours!
I’m getting too old to do it, and hate it – but not as much as I hate core-aerating. Now THAT I REALLY HATE!
I’m sore today! Seriously thinking about getting some type of gutter covers. Anyone had any experience w/ gutter covers? I’ve seen them advertised on TV, but not sure which one is best.
I would have no idea! but if I had to know for some reason I think I would be looking for information at Consumer Reports. I haven’t always agreed with them, but their research is impeccable.
I subscribe to the dead-tree format – but don’t recall seeing anything WRT gutters.
Might switch to the online version in hopes it would provide a better search.
Some people let goats run loose to “cut” the grass. Why not squirrels to take care of the hickory nuts? I know, it’s a squirrely idea, but hey, you’d be helping animal welfare! . . . and they will do it all year, not charging you a sou. It would save going up and down a ladder etc.
I got PLENTY of squirrels – but they don’t even eat all the ones on the ground. They climb up in the tree and then nibble the tips of the branches laden w/ nuts off, then go down to the ground to eat the “fresh” ones they just cut off.
I have NO idea why they do that when the ground is literally covered w/ nuts!
Maybe “fresh” is the key – and maybe they are smarter than they are given credit for.
Squirrels are like Republicans. They love to grab nuts, but go figure which ones.
“They love to grab nuts … “
I admire my own restraint in not mentioning Kevin Spacey’s name in reply.
LOL! We’d better get a steel supporter.
Merkley continues to rock!
DK: HYPOCRICY thy name is legend in he GOPIG world! I’m going out on a limb, and predicting Moore looses.
YT/MSNBC: Hatch may not be aware of the world in which he currently lives.
‘Toon: That was one BIG leak! So much for all the BS claims of safety!
Puzzle — 3:24 At least I don’t have to worry that you’ll eat your little cousin.
Jeff Merkley — Kudos!!! For people who are so pro-life, Republicans do everything and anything to ensure that children (and others of the most vulnerable citizens) are not looked after. As we have said many times before, Republicans are really pro-life when it suits them, otherwise they are pro-death.
Daily Kos — According to an article in AlterNet, Tony Perkins of the Evangelical Family Research Council knew that a Republican lawmaker sexually assaulted a teen in a hotel room two years ago, but he kept the knowledge to himself. That Republican lawmaker was none other than Ohio state representative Wesley Goodman. So this is conservative family values? Republicans seem not to vet their candidates’ definition of “family values” very well.
MSNBC — I listened several times. I did not hear Brown commenting on Hatch but rather on the bill. Hatch however took it as a personal attack. I wonder who pissed in his cornflakes that morning!
Cartoon — 795,000 litres spilled in South Dakota! Of course it’s safe . . . NOT!!! There was a delay of 5 hours reporting this to the government. I wonder what Drumpf will say about this one in his tweets?
Lynn, that’s the same one I wrote about in this article.
Assuming that you’re talking about the Daily Kos article, the incident there and the one in the AlterNet piece appear to be 2 different occasions. One is in his Riffe Center office, while the one 2 years ago involved an 18 year old college student following an event at the Ritz Carlton in Washington. They appear on the surface to be different.
There were two incidents. Perkins’ misconduct was related to the older one. The newer one JUST happened, and it jogged some memories of the older one, which is why we are now hearing about both.
Jeff Merkley: Three cheers for the man from Oregon who keeps the pressure on the GOP. If it weren’t for Merkely Congress would forget all about CHIP funding and siphon the money not spent on sick kids towards their masters.
DK: The hypocrisy that’s oozing out of the pores of the GOP is making me sick. I’m open minded and I don’t give a hoot what any legislator of any party is doing at home or in a hotel room for pleasure as long as it is legal and between consenting adults, but Goodman having sex with a man in the same office from which he crusaded against the LGBTQ community is revolting. Not because of the gay sex, but because of the revolting double standards Goodman holds himself to. Of course double standards is what Republicans are all about. Preying on underage girls using your status as DA is acceptable, having gay sex with a consenting adult and getting caught is not.
MSNBC: Orrin Hatch just demonstrated how the GOP is legislating. If they can’t win because their bills are so dismal, hurt everyone in the country but the 1% and full of amendments that have nothing to do with that bill, and because they can’t lie good enough or hard enough to convince others of the merit of those bills, they then start to rant and attack the opposition, and blame them for their own bad work. It won’t work with the opposition, but they know it’ll make their base really happy.
Cartoon: Another case of trickle-down economy, I guess.
But rest assured, a leak in a small Key Stone pipeline won’t stop them a few days from now from allowing the Key Stone XXL to be built.
Thanks all! Hugs!!
