  1. Sure did. And now…”I can’t get up!!” LOL

    • Aw, Pat, I just read about the mass shooting in Sutherland Springs.  I’m pretty sure that’s nowhere near you (30 miles SE of San Antone), but in one’s own state I find it’s even more distressing than elsewhere.  So Sorry!

      • And here come the “de rigueur” politicians’ “Thoughts and Prayers …” – which is certainly fine.

But then we’ll also get the “de rigueur” “It’s too early to discuss reasonable gun control measures.”

Sorry – but it is NOT TOO EARLY

        It’s TOO DAMN LATE!

        • Sorry, “Thoughts and prayers” are not fine, in this context!  The phrase has been used for nothing but empty piety, instead of positive action.  It is meant to denote true sorrow, but it is fake, since as soon as the event that created the need for “Thoughts and prayers” is a day old all the relevant politicians are off to simply protect the NRA and their gods, the munitions industry, with the same old tired obfuscations.  The “It’s too early,” as you [oint out; the “Guns don’t kill people, people do,” and on and on.  Obama never did “come for” their guns, but the fools went out and bought how many more, making whom still richer?

          • Mitch, talking about these Republicans, you’re right, with the caveat that “Thoughts and prayers” from authentic Christians, they do not substitute for positive action.  They empower positive actions.  18

        • When the news about another mass shooting came on yesterday, they first gave a review of the horrendous number of those (more than 4 killed) in the last month and in this year, then the fact that Drumpf called for a Muslim ban after the last (gunless) terrorist attack in NY but didn’t say anything about gun control again after this shooting. They also mentioned the usual sounds coming from Congress: Democrats demanding gun control, Republicans having nothing but thoughts and prayers.  If we can see how wrong this all is from over here, it’s hard to believe that Republicans can’t see it when it happens right under their noses. Too much NRA money in the way to see, I guess.

          • It is not that Republicans don’t see it, it’s that they don’t want to see it because it does not fit with their xenophobic and racist ideals, and of course, it flies in the face of one of their puppet masters, the NRA and their associates in the munitions industry.

Although I have not seen it yet, I am sure McTurtle, as he did in other mass shootings, will be out touting the line that this is not the time for gun control discussions, it’s the time for prayer.  Sorry McTurtle, you’re wrong!  Let gun control be your prayer.

Drumpf: “Mental health is the problem here . . . a very deranged individual.  A lot of problems over a long period of time . . . this isn’t a guns situation . . . it’s a little bit soon to go into it.  But fortunately, somebody else had a gun that was shooting in the opposite direction otherwise it wouldn’t have been as bad as it was, it would have been worse.”

Saying that “Mental health is the problem here” is nothing more than a panacea, a magic potion to obfuscate the entire issue.  Apparently, the shooter had a history of domestic violence and was drummed out of the air force with a bad conduct discharge for that domestic violence.  This allowed him to still legally purchase a weapon.  So tell us Drumpf, how this is a mental health issue and not a gun control issue!

My thoughts and prayers are for those 26 killed and 25 others injured, and for their families and friends.

      • Yes, Joanne, it was quite a shocker!

Of them….being murdered were 12 to 14 little children. I grieve for the little ones, parents, grandparents gone, and for the atrocity that happened there.

I agree, thoughts & prayers isn’t cutting the mustard anymore. Something must be done to curb the violence that we read about every.single.day!!

Sadly, “Nearly 900 people have been killed, and almost 2,000 wounded, by American gun violence since the Las Vegas shooting gripped the world’s attention at the beginning of this month.” *nydailynews*

Thank you for the great comments here, and for your concern, Joanne.

  2. I fell back last weekend, and I’m still hurting a bit. Though jumping forward is always a bigger strain on my biological clock.

  3. My computer did it automatically. Now, all I need to do is just one clock here at home. I remember that at work, the noc shift had the lovely duty of resetting ALL the clocks on the unit, forward and backward twice a year. Changing the clocks took quite a bit of time for accuracy. We were one hour faster and had to do our patient, meds, feedings and personal cares quickly and the other time was a dragging slow noc shift. The day shift would be either late or early if they even remembered or cared. I’m retired now and don’t have to worry about them anymore. Ha.
    .

  4. For a change, I was early for church . . . 1 hour early!

I kept telling myself to change the clocks before I went to bed Saturday night . . . and then I didn’t.    I guess you could say I had a Saturday night fever!  I rushed to get ready for church on Sunday morning only to find the parking lot empty when I arrived.

That is the 1st time I have forgotten the time change in either direction.  But it could have been worse . . . it could have happened at the “leap forward” time and been late 1 hour.

    Love the graphic!

    • Back in my brief Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian days, long long ago, I was also one hour early and found the church locked and deserted.  I wasn’t sure what to think about that rapture stuff they were telling me, but I was starting to worry. 26
