I’m hurrying to get this posted, before leaving for my eye appointment, as I’ll be dilated and useless when I return.  Have a great day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:31 (average 5:27).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (Trae Crowder Channel): Liberal Redneck – Virginia is for Lovers, not Nazis

"Your silence is your complicity." How true of Republicans that is! RESIST!!

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): President Trump’s Initial Response To Charlottesville Draws Criticism

Barf Bag Alert!!

Trump said, "It’s not Trump." He lied. It is Trump. He has been feeding hate to Alt-Right Republican Nazis from the beginning of his campaign through the present. If you are a Republican, and this isn’t you, it’s time to get out, or accept your complicity in what these Nazi criminals do. RESIST!!

From NY Times: North Korea’s success in testing an intercontinental ballistic missile that appears able to reach the United States was made possible by black-market purchases of powerful rocket engines probably from a Ukrainian factory with historical ties to Russia’s missile program, according to an expert analysis being published Monday and classified assessments by American intelligence agencies.

The studies may solve the mystery of how North Korea began succeeding so suddenly after a string of fiery missile failures, some of which may have been caused by American sabotage of its supply chains and cyberattacks on its launches. After those failures, the North changed designs and suppliers in the past two years, according to a new study by Michael Elleman, a missile expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Such a degree of aid to North Korea from afar would be notable because President Trump has singled out only China as the North’s main source of economic and technological support. He has never blamed Ukraine or Russia

How ironic! Trump threatens war over missiles, when the same person, who put him in the White House, Putin (R-RU) is responsible for North Korea’s missile tech. RESIST!!

  1. YT: “In the grand scheme of things…”, I like his train of thoughts. Keep up the good work!!

BBA: Gawd…dt had to read from a prepared script…showed no compassion, or remorse for this domestic terriorism!! DD is feeding the fire too. Saw yesterday a comment floating around: (about the senseless death that happened. “Murdered while protesting hate.”)”Today, a woman died on U.S. soil while fighting Nazis. Let that sink in.” *Matt Aukamp.

NYT: WOW!!! Very scary, and concerning!

Cartoon: Peace & Friendship. For all.

Hope all goes well with you at your appointment. Take good care, rest when you get home. Thanks, Tom.

  2. 4:52  But is it edible?

Praying your eye appointment goes well.

YT/TCC – Great minds.  I had copied the embed information in case you hadn’t.  I would point out it is NSFW.

YT/MSNBC – I read a headline in Raw Story referencing “Trump’s tepid response” and I misread it as “Trump’s fetid response” – although I think my way fots just as well.  One thing, he made it perfectly clear that false equivalency supports evil.  There just are not “many sides” to violence.  There is good, and there is evil.  The one person murdered (and those injured with her) were on the side of good.  The accident whoch claimed two other lives would not have happened had there not been evil on the premises.

NYT – How interesting.  And, in a way, predictable.  Money does talk (mostly in lies and insults, but it does talk.)

Cartoon – Haven’t googled, but I believe that’s the one that said Americans have no quarrel with Muslims (spelled differently by the conventions of the time.)

    • Yes.  It also said. 06

As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

  3. Let’s see … seven months into this disastrous presidency and we’re on the brink of nuclear holocaust while Nazis and KKK white supremacists march openly on our streets while Twitler et al are being investigated for a multitude of felonies.

Yep – everything seems to be on schedule.

If we have any hope of survival – and I mean that literally – this asshole has to be removed from office!

I hope Mr. Mueller and his stellar team have an Overdrive setting!

  4. Puzzle — 4:16 I don’t know if this is edible but it does not matter. Damn straight, you’re not getting any of it Puddy Tat!!!

YouTube — I had never heard of this fellow before JD introduced him here, but I like him and what he has to say and how he says it. He is absolutely correct when he says “Your silence is your complicity.” Here in Canada, we are not immune to the white supremacist sewage. As I noted in my comment to yesterday’s lead article, there were white supremacist Canadians from Ontario in Charlotte. Our government needs to crack down on these thugs too. There is no place in our society for hate nor hate speech. There were demonstrations, especially in Toronto, against white supremacy and in solidarity with Charlotte.

MSNBC — Drumpf is the Nazi-in-Chief or White Supremacist-in-Chief . . . take your pick. Any Republican, indeed any person, who does not call him out, who does not support his removal from office is complicit in his hate and deserves no better.

NY Times — The League of Oligarchs headed by Putin strikes again! I wonder if Putin will offer Russian citizenship to Drumpf and entry into the League of Oligarchs after he is cashiered out of the White House.

Cartoon — “Unanimously ratified by the Senate, when most Senators were founding fathers.” It stated unequivocally “…Article 11 stating that “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.”” — So tell me, how do the right wing evangelicals square their claim that the US was founded as a Christian country?

Well it was very refreshing to get the rain and cooler temperatures over the weekend. The temps should remain where they are over the next few days with the humidity on the high side and about a 20% chance of rain. The winds have helped to clear out much of the smoke. I trust this is similar to Portland. I hope your trip to the ophthalmologist went well. I think it is very exciting for you to be able to see so much better! I am excited for you!

    • No country is “immune to the white supremacist sewage”, or neo-Nazis, Lynn. Not even Germany, where the Nazi Swastika flag and making the Hitler salute are banned. The difference with America under the Drumpf administration is that those leaders of those other countries acknowledge the problem and are not part of it:

Angela Merkel Condemns Charlottesville Violence as ‘Racist’ and ‘Evil’

The chancellor [Angela Merkel] declined to criticize the United States, noting that her own country still struggles with anti-Semitism and far-right extremists.

“Before we point our fingers at others, we need to take care of that which is happening at home,” Ms. Merkel said. “Of course that country is torn,” she said of the United States, “but what needs to be condemned is any form of violence, especially any forms of extreme or aggressive violence.”

  5. Trae Crowder: Spot on, liberal Redneck! Although Trae uses language I prefer to keep out of my Dictionary for Daily Use, he really has a knack for analogies that can even be understood by the most conservative redneck 21. He’s analysis of the situation is spot-on too: by not picking sides, Drumpf has definitely picked sides, and the statement he came up with today, which was so obviously made under duress, can’t turn back the clock. But it does give Republicans the opportunity to stay silent and tell everyone to move on. So:

MSNBC: The strong condemnation of the people on this panel, and of course of those all across the country, have finally hit home and Drumpf has reluctantly made a second statement (after two days of opposition) to try to set things right. When shown on the breakfast news here in Oz this morning, it was introduced with very skeptic comment pointing out Drumpf’s all too obvious tenseness: staring in at the auto-cue, a white mask-face, and his left hand gripping the lectern with force. He didn’t let go of the lectern during the statement, gesturing with his right hand only. It was all too obvious that he was instructed to do so in the hope he could focus on the soulless message long enough without going off the rails again. It was also all too obvious that he didn’t want to be there, didn’t want to say it and didn’t mean any of his denouncement of the KKK, white supremacist and neo-nazis. No one but a Republican will take this at face value and say all is well again.

NYT: Russia is trying to destabilize the status quo in the world to regain its former power in many different ways and that it has aided North Korea with sending powerful rocket engined comes as no surprise. Americans shouldn’t be too hypocritical about it, as this is the way all world powers operate in secrecy, but it is gets to be very worrying when the leader of the US fails to call out one particular enemy time after time and particular exception happens to be Russia, which is known to have meddled in American elections and ‘possibly’ has helped Drumpf to victory. Having said that, I think at this point in time Drumpf is simply unable to change tactics; he’s already had to step over his own shadow to denounce the alt-right this week and it’ll take weeks to recuperate from the damage that did to his ego.

Cartoon: Good old times. Long gone, I’m afraid.

Hope you’re appointment went well, TomCat, and that you’re next cataract operation is now booked.

  6. I am really worried about our country, I hope we survive intact from having Trump in the White House.

  7. Lest we forget about vice president Mike Pence is also complicit in this fiasco of what happened in Charlotte over the weekend. Drumpf omits. Pence defends.

Overnight Vice President Mike Pence condemned white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan for deadly weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also defended President Trump for not citing those specific groups. Video. (CC).

  8. Thanks all.  Very tired hugs. 28

  9. Thanks, TC. Hugzzz…

  10. It seems  that all that Rumpy touches, with words, or deeds, comes to no good.  A heated Chief Financial Officer at work got his ire up over some people’s supposing that funding for some of the humanitarian programs that run out of our non-profit, might suffer under the Orange Idiot.   He had to make a point of reminding people that he is the resident conservative Republican, as part of defending the Schmuck-in-chief, by saying that we can’t really predict the future.  Normally, anyone who says we can’t predict the future gets kudos from me, but in this case I’m waiting to see what comes along.  And I do wonder how he can live with the garbage spewing from his fearless leader’s sphincter.
