Yesterday I talked to Providence Elder at Home. They refused me further medications, so I have to go to an appointment for a chest X-Ray with my PCP, Megan, on Friday, suffer in the interim, and try to stay out of the emergency room. The pain is less severe, if I do not lay down, but I'm getting little sleep. I'm taking a wheelchair taxi to and from. It will cost more, but limit my exposure. My biggest worry is getting George on. ARGH!! Hugs!! RESIST!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Just thinking out loud. Has the Providence Elder adopted the new DrumpfCare Plan and initiated it by starting it with you…?
.
4:05 I agree this is seriously tough. I just had some very good luck.
You may not be feeling very hungry, but here's food for thought: what ingredients make for the very best of what I call a cseerole, but which I have seen called a covered dish, and in Minnesota they call a hotdish (one word)? here's what Al Franken has to say: "If Trump's budget were a hotdish, it would be a tripe, chocolate syrup, and cheese nightmare." Smile, but don't hurt yourself laughing.
Good question, Jim, I wondered the same thing!
A shame that you have to go through all of this, while being sick, and with your lack of sleep.
Hope that you get some rest through all of this. Saying a little prayer for you, and recovery. Take care!
Thanks, Tom.
*Joanne, I really like your Resist sign today. Very very nice!
Thanks, Pat. Antiques Roadshow last night had a bunch of Art Deco stuff on. Can you tell? I'm trying to do some kinder, gentler ones while TC is ailing. Some good advice for him here today. My computer chair is high enough in back that I can easily fall asleep in it, even if I'm not planning on it.
What terrible news, TomCat. I hope the medication you're taking now, perhaps with some additional paracetamol, will keep you going until Friday. Do you still lease that big special bed, or is that long gone? If you still have it, I hope you can adjust it so you can come as close to sitting up as possible to sleep. It takes a little getting used to, and some cushions to keep you propped up, but that's how people slept in the Middle Ages and long after that. Like Lynn, I found it doable as it kept the coughing down and it didn't hurt as much when I did. After a few nights I was so tired that I started sleeping well enough to get me through the day.
When I tore my muscles coughing the Aussie doctor also told me not to drink cold water when I had a coughing fit – as I had done to cool down my throat – but to drink a warm potion. Cold water irritates the nerve branches in your esophagus and stomach, which belong to the same nerve (n. vagus) as your lungs, which then get irritated in turn. It was sound advise because a (luke)warm drink really eased/stopped a coughing fit.
Hold on, TomCat and hold Stumpy elevated as high as possible until Friday so that George will fit and not have a fit. My thoughts are with you.
Puzzle — 3:42 Finally, someplace I can take a load off for a few minutes!
Cartoon — Every time I think of MLK Jr I hear the words "We shall overcome!" and that gives me hope. Mind, when I think of Drumpfenfarten, things seem so bleak. But that is the rallying call for
Resist and Persist!!!
Things will get better if we
Resist and Persist
and
R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!
I can understand Providence Elder Care not wanting to add further medications, but I agree that when you're in that much pain, it sucks! Hang in there Puddy Tat! I know for me, taking 2 extra strength Tylenol just before bed finally did help me to sleep a little, even though I was propped up. Also try some hot tea. I find that when I have a cold or some other maladie like an intercostal muscle sprain, Earl Grey tea really helps relax me — tea and Tylenol should help get you through to Friday. Make sure you get that x-ray to rule out a broken rib or any issues with your COPD. I did and there was nothing. I just needed time, hard as that is sometimes. Thoughts and prayers are with you. BTW, I lit a candle at church for you last Sunday.
So sorry, TC. I hope you feel better soon.
Welcome back Edie! It's good to see you post again. I hope you are feeling as fit as a fiddle!
Ditto Squatch!
While it's certainly a major hassle and inconvenience getting to your PCP, it does sound like a reasonable and appropriate plan.
After all, you started this illness back on March 8th, and were put on Doxycycline on the 11th. So it's time to be seen – especially given your underlying health issues.
Let us know if there's anything we can do, long-distance-wise.
Thanks all. Sick hugs.
Been there with no meds until I had the x-ray and then I got some banana flavored stuff that knocked me out for three days but when I woke up, I was healed. Hope it's somewhat the same for you, TC….take all the time you need to heal up cuz we need you and will be here … in the meantime, just sending you a ton of be wells and a zillion hugs!
