I’m still extremely tired.  I had little sleep last night, because I inadvertently participated in a riot, and did so from the edge of my bed.  See my lead article today.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:31 (average 4:46).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes (all from Real Time Channel):

From YouTube: Lessons for Democrats

He sure made a point about being too nice.

From YouTube: Eric Holder: Abolish the Electoral College

I disagree with needing a Constitutional Amendment, Visit National Popular Vote to see how to do it.

From YouTube: New Rule: We’re Still Here

I wonder if the North Korean immigration website crashed from attempts by Americans to escape the Fifth Reich of Fuhrer Drumphenfarten. Like most of us, I’m still here. Like far too few of us, I’m fighting back.

  1. 4:20  Don't get a chill.

I have found a radio station with a web presence which broadcasts a complete live opera every Saturday, not just in Met season.  Today that opera is "The Crucible."  So I am catharting (probably not a word) while I type.

RT1 – OK, this is tough.  I want government that goes high.  If I get it by running a low campaign – will it really be high?  What do I have to settle for?   Maybe it's even better than I thought that Colorado also passed an expanding-end-of-life options bill.

RT2 – I am signing all the petitions.  I don't care how it gets done as long as it gets done.  (WRT Election Day being a holiday – some of the poorest workers work in occupations that still can't take the day off even if it is a holiday.  I'm thinking of, for example, hospital intensive care personnel.  I personally want as many nurses voting as possible.)

RT3 – The people who most passionately want out didn't see this coming.  It does take a little time to get one's affairs in order to move to another country.  (Including a country not in this worls.  The LBGTQ suicide hotline saw a 500% increase in calls this week.)

Cartoon – Yeah, I first thought the ear, and then realized it wasn't.  But the ear is probably the second least used.

  2. YT: I talk about Repugs with my gal pals, and to my dog, does that count?

We're still here! I have my Safety Pin on too!

    Cartoon: Yep, lol.

Thanks for your post, get some rest, Tom.

  3. I'd never would have taken you for a rioting feline, TomCat.

YouTube (RTC) 1: This was one of the nastiest and most mud-slinging election ever, so I don't think "too nice" was so much of an issue as attacking the Drumpf voters and calling them deplorable was. That and not realizing how many people hadn't made up their mind at that point, or hadn't owned up to supporting Drumpf to themselves yet was one of the mistakes Clinton made. Those voters were as thin-skinned as Drumpf himself and went for what they recognized in him.

YouTube (RTC) 2: You need a general overhaul of the system including getting rid of the outdated Electoral College. What is it's function anyway. If I understood correctly the College comes together on the first Monday after the second Wednesday of December to elect the president, but Obama and Drumpf were already busy with the transition of power. But officially Drumpf is not elected until the Electoral College has met. What bogus, and how convenient to keep in place if it always favors Republicans when Democrats have the popular vote. That, and all of the points Maher mentioned, and all the other things that are biased in any election, should be set straight.

Apparently a quite a few states, even Republican-dominated ones, have adopted the principle. Some did this only recently but that was when they (also) believed that Drumpf would lose and they might lose the majority in Congress. I hope Americans will pursue abolishing the Electoral College and not be overwhelmed by the things Drumpf and Republicans will stick to them, making them forget about the popular vote. There's a lot to fight for in the coming years, the popular vote is one of them.

YouTube (RTC) 3: All Democratic voters should be given that blue cap and start wearing them. Renew the party – or start a new one – but be progressive and unite liberals once again. Reason and humanity will conquer anger and hate.

  4. YouTube:  Bill has a point about the Democrats being too nice.  Apparently, getting down in the gutter as the Republicans have done will win more votes.  Just look at the possiblities for Trumps cabinet:  Guiliani, Christie, Gingrich, all gutter masters.

Eric Holder:  I was aware that there did not have to be a Constitutional amendment and have signed several petitions to end the Electoral College.  I went to National Party Vote, signed that and shared it.  Thanks for the link.

We're still here:  Yes we are and I will stick to my values no matter.  I didn't realize what a minority I belonged to until this election.  I have not "unfriended" anyone, and won't.  But,  won't argue with them either. I will continue to advocate for what I think is right and vote for those who will represent what I believe is right

    Cartoon:  Too True!.

  5. Puzzle — 2:58  My boat has a hole in the bottom!

Real Time 1 — Should Democrats go high, go middle of the road, or fight fire with fire in the gutter if necessary?  Going high doesn't necessarily work when your opponent is a lying, racist SOB.  But likewise, glutter slugging gets everybody dirty and indistinguishable from the other.  I guess it comes down to knowing when to hold them and when to fold them.

Real Time 2 — When does 1 vote not equal one vote?  As I recall from reading in the past day or so, South Dakota with a population of approximately 900,000 people gets 3 electoral college votes.  That is 1 vote for 300,000 people.  But California with 39,000,000 people gets 55 electoral college votes which amounts to 709,090 people to 1 electoral college vote.  One vote should count as 1 vote.  Get rid of the electoral college!

Real Time 3 — "… white votes …The Anglo Saxons are not sending us their best people." — LOL!  Progressives need to unite and walk forward with confidence and not move backwards.

Cartoon — They don't listen to anyone but themselves, and they don't think about anyone but themselves.

  6. The Democrats (like the Lib Dems over here) have always been too nice and have been persuaded to go along with those in power for the sake of others and have ended up passing legislation that they don't alway agree with (at least I hope they don't!) – they really have got to get some backbone back and remember their voters and stand up for them!

  7. By nice I most mean to stop trusting Republicans to keep their word.

    Thanks and pooped hugs!
