Yesterday was cooler, but I still felt exhausted from several days of oppressive heat.  I did keep up with replying to comments and returning visits.  Today, I hope to do at least as well, but have some errands to do.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today it took me 3:52.  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Think Progress: At the organization’s national convention this week, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will propose a resolution “condemning racism within the tea party movement.” The resolution calls upon “all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”

I fully support this resolution.

From Huffington Post: Out of 4 million students who entered high school in 2001, fewer that 200,000 will graduate with a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) degree… For every new Ph.D. in physical sciences, the US graduates 50 new MBA’s, and 18 lawyers.

The imbalance exists, because government has been subsidizing paper-only profits for the last thirty years rather that enterprises that produce real value.  And wouldn’t we be better off if we had 18 scientists for every lawyer?

From TPM: Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has made his views known on the Birther controversy: He supports lawsuits to force President Obama to produce his birth certificate.

Maybe Obama hid it under Dave’s pampers.

  1. What fascinates me about the “Tea Party” movement and the David Viiter (whore) and all the talking head who are vilifying the progressives and the center are the ones who are fomenting the push back by government that they are afraid of. Once a fool starts down a road without knowing or even having a clue as to where it leads then it is their own self determined end place.

Tell me what you think of Leg Hump Harry trying to throw the president under the Arizona bus for a few poll points.

    • I agree, Mark. Once the GOP has their way they will push the baggers right under the bus.

The Nevada Leg Hound disappointed me with that comment, but when the alternative is Sharon Angle…

  2. Things are still bad TomCat. My future son in law graduated with honors with a degree in math. He works as a telemarketer at night and unloads trucks for a department store days.

  3. Good for the NAACP, although I still wish they would change their name.

I think we have WAY too many lawyers and some not of the good kind. I agree, more scientists and engineers and less lawyers! BTW, my son (a sophomore in HS) just took his aptitude test – he’s geared for engineering – 100%. He has great spatial skills and can put anything together while I’m throwing tools and cursing. I guess that’s why I’m a CPA and not an engineer. 🙂

Vitter can bite me. I say take Obama’s birth certificate and shove it up his ass, although he’d probably like that.

Great cartoon – Steele says he won’t resign, so unless the party votes him out (which they can’t because he’s their token black man), he’ll be the gift that keeps on giving for a long, long time.

    • Lisa, it won’t happen anytime soon, There is too much goodwill tied up in the name.

Good for him!! If you were an engineer, you would throw the broken item at the wall, and it would start working.

He might like biting you too. 😈

When his term expires, poof! Color him gone.
