Tom122007_Painting_Painting Last night several primary elections were decided.  I’m not going to cober them all, but here’s my take on some of the key races.  On the Democratic side there was only one contest of national interest.

In Arkansas, Blanch “I killed the public option” Lincoln won a narrow victory over Bill Halter, in a stunning defeat for progressives.  The election is controversial, because a Lincolnista party hack closed around forty polling places, leaving only two, in Garland County, one of Halter’s strongest areas.  I cannot say whether or not that would have made a difference in the outcome.

Now DINO pundits like Chris “Tweety” Matthews are blaming progressives for making Lincoln unelectable in the general election.  Say what?  Lincoln was trailing potential GOP opponents by double digits before halter entered the race.

I predict that, now that she has the nomination, Lincoln will not defend the key financial reform amendment she sponsored.

On the GOP side, there were several key decisions.

LowdenLoses In Nevada, Sharon Angle easily defeated Sue Lowden to challenge Harry Reid in November.  A devout advocate of Teabuggery, Angle wants to end Social Security, close the Department of education and withdraw from the UN.  Rumor has it that Reid is delighted, but I can assure you that chickens all over the country are having a victory party.

In South Carolina, Nikki Haley won the plurality in Governor’s race, but will have to face Gresham Barrett in a runoff election.  She’s the one who has been twice accused of hiking the Appalachian Trail and has been called a “Raghead” by members of her own party.

In California Meg Whitman bought the GOP nomination to oppose jerry Brown for Governor.  It cost her the tidy sum of $81 million of her own money.  Also, Carly Fiorina spent $6 million of the money she was paid for trashing HP to win the right to oppose Barbara Boxer.  Sadly, Orly “Birtheristra Bimbo” Taitz did not win the GOP nomination for Secretary of State.

Remember your duty to learn the candidates, learn the issues and vote.  People who do not vote deserve Republican rule.

  1. Halter’s defeat was a real downer. Blanche Lincoln and all the other DINOs have got to be replaced by progressives who will really do something for the average citizen instead of doing the bidding of Wal Mart and the health insurance industry.

Chris Matthews is an erratic goof who is often attracted more to a candidate’s appearance and moxie than to the issues. Early on, for example, he loved W’s cowboy swagger and tough talk, for example. It is very hard to follow his logic.

Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina have nothing to offer their state or the nation, and both should be trounced in November.

Orly Taitz is a fruitcake basket case. Time for more Alan Graysons, Dennis Kuciniches, and Barbara Boxers! The sewage that teabaggers and the ultra-conservative GOP keeps offering up has a repulsive and poisonous stench!

  2. I feel like an echo of Jack… but you know TC, it’s a great write up, glad to see that a blogger I know did one!!! Have to keep checking around… I know. Being Halt, I would look into the closing of the polling places… but perhaps they know it’s done deal?
I surely hope Cali gets it’s liberal act together … they need a decent non-dogma Democrat in the Gov’s house. And Barbara Boxer is a good politician. Orly Taitz? R u effin kidding me? I had not heard that one…
    Teabuggery. LOLOLOL
    Nice write up!

    • Thanks, Jan. Bold Progressives is looking into it, but it is a done deal. Feel free to steal ‘Teabuggery’. I coined that one muyself.

  3. Hey TomCat, thanks for saying “Remember your duty to learn the candidates, learn the issues and vote. People who do not vote deserve Republican rule.”
Some people still don’t get that…
Please send me your mailing info at davy.com@verizon.net so I can send you an autographed copy of my book.

  4. Ain’t it great logic on Tweety’s part to cast someone who blocked health care for the poor as a victim?

I love Barbara Boxer. I’ll never forget her confrontation with the dishonest, dissembling Condi Rice. I sure hope she beats Fiorina.

Let me join Jack, Gwen and Teeluck in saying ‘Nice work, Tom.’ I almost feel like throwing in provocative, contrarian remarks just to make the discussion more interesting. 🙂

  5. I have Mark Kirk running in my state and if he keeps goofing up his military record (he’s starting to sound like Bush right now, with all his back pedaling), he’s toast. The Dem is a guy with a last name I can’t pronounce, but I like him better than “I got a Purple Heart in Iraq” Kirk.

  6. Halter’s excellent showing (and probable win if the polling places weren’t jimmied) should put Blanche on notice about what her constituents are peeved about. She dodged a bullet and should be grateful.

  7. Jack, my sentiments…

BTW glad to see you again

  8. I think come November Tuesday will prove a win for Democrats.

  9. Tweety just doesn’t get it. Progressives have no reason to care whether or not a far right Republican (who pretends to be a centrist Democrat) wins in November.

    • Lib, I certainly won’t encourage using any resources for her reelection. The ONLY reasonb I wiss support her is to preserve a Dem majority.
