I’m afraid it’s a thoroughly crappy day. I have come down with the flu and feel horrid. I’m doing all the necessary things. To make matters worse, it’s a grocery delivery day, with all the extra work that entails. Worse yet, the crew working on the building is making a racket. To top it all off, Portland is under an excessive heat warning through Sunday. ARGH!! Please excuse me, while I go bury myself.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:07 (average 5:06). To do it click here. How did you do?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
5:10 average (still) 5:06. Those eyes scared me.
I hope you are going to bury yourself someplace safe, TC, and not in the litterbox. Stay hydrated. Rest well.
And keep your chin up. We may have FINALLY won a small victory:

It is about time that some of these guys looked at life through bars!
There was a case here where some RCMP officers at the airport tried to subdue a man who had just arrived from Poland to visit his mother. Not speaking English, he became annoyed and constables subdued him with a taser. Unfortunately, he died. A number of the constables colluded with each other to fabricate the events. One was recently sentenced to 36 months which means he'll serve his time in a federal prison.
Imdeed, but guards are not as protected as police, Even the coma call guards wannabes.
good advice JD
Stay cool and drink plenty of fluids.

Many parts of the West and Northwest will see temperatures well above average. Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari has the forecasted highs.

70's in my part of CA Jim–I guess I'm one of the lucky ones
3:28 Hairless dogs scare me. They must scare TomCat more. He got away quicker than me.
2:44 Saved from the snapping jaws of that dang Puddy Tat!
Why Jerry? They're just trying to show you that they're too tall for their hair!
That reminds me. I use to tell people who complained about being too short, that if they were any taller, their feet would not touch the ground.
3:08 Hairless dogs and cats look unnatural to me.
That Sasquatch ate a dawg that a pook sick kitten needed for medicinal purposes.
Nice try Puddy Tat, but this Sasquatch is 75% vegetarian and doesn't eat dawg . . . only chicken, fish and very, very occassionally beef when I eat meat. Dawg is downright disgusting!
Sounds like it is a cave of icepacks you should be usin' to bury yeself
As others have told you: Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids (and stay OUT of the litterbox, except when nature calls).
And be thankful you're in your new domicile w/ reliable AC! (I can remember the temps in your old place in the 100s and not being able to run your own AC because of some fire code – which was probably reasonable safety-wise.)
To maybe help out a bit during TC’s illness, and with all the fury over white supremacist, Dylann Roof's, massacre of nine innocent blacks in Charleston, along with the fury over the Confederate Battle Flag – the "Stars & Bars" (the actual Confederate Flag is different), I'm going to provide some background to rebut any racist who tries to tell you the Civil War was solely over the much-vaunted by racists claim of "States' Rights" – because THAT is some Grade A+ Prime BOVINE EXCREMENT!
To keep to the three-link limit, I could just reference "The Declaration of Causes of Seceding States" for GEORGIA, MISSISSIPPI, SOUTH CAROLINA, TEXAS, VIRGINIA – because they're all very similar – and very, VERY telling.
http://www.civilwar.org/education/history/primarysources/declarationofcauses.html
These declarations are the formal enshrined reasons why these states chose to secede from America. Now I would encourage you to read them – or at least one of the states – because they're quite chilling. But since my goal is to provide rebuttal to prove the original impetus for secession was NOT "States' Right" but slavery, I'll make it quick and easy.
Click the above link, and do search for a few exemplary words – or just let me do it for you, and I'll tabulate them for you:
"states' rights" – ZERO times
"states rights" – ZERO times
"slave" (or any variation, like "slavery") – EIGHTY-THREE TIMES!
Still dealing with some doubters that it wasn’t about slavery, (you know … the uncle across the table at Thanksgiving, the neighbor with the "Stars & Bars" on his pickup)? Well, share with them the words of no other an authority than the Vice-President of the Confederacy, Alexander H. Stephans:
http://civilwarcauses.org/stephans.htm
Let us be clear: The Confederacy was created to maintain and expand the practice of slavery, and to nurture White Supremacy. And the Confederate Battle Flag specifically celebrates the Confederate Army that fought for those objectives.
The only "Heritage" the Confederate Battle Flag "honors" is one of HATERS, TRAITORS and LOSERS.
TAKE IT DOWN!
I totally agree with you, take it down. As I have said before, I had ancestors who fought on both sides of the war. The ones who fought with the south had no slaves, and very litle money so I have never understood their stake in it. Racism has to end, period.
TC, don't bury yourself too deeply. Hope you feel better soon.
Please take care TC. You know the drill, so be extra cautious and drink lots of liquids and get as much rest as possible. Consider yourself hugged!
There are worse things than to burry youreself in a heatwave, TomCat, but I doubt that the litterbox is the best place to do so. If you have a runny nose it'll save on tissues, I suppose, but that's about the only plus. Crank up the airconditioner, but don't sit too close to it, the stream of cold air is common cause of flues and colds and only make yours worse. I don't envy you your flu in a heatwave, especially not with all that racket going on. Catnaps for comfort are on their way.
Poor TC! Poor pussy-cat! What a horrible lot of things to happen at once – you have my deepest sympathies.
(I hope we all make a habit of taking Vit C and Zinc in quite large quantities [look up on the web] the first second we feel slightly off colour or woozly – it really helps, but they must be taken together in the first 24 hours of a virus to have a chance at zapping the virus).
Thanmks all. Hugs. Don't.forget what the Cat Box is. Click here,
Take care, TC!
