I’m feeling very tired. I slept poorly last night due to muscle aches from yesterdays walking. Now I’m waiting for Store to Door to call for my grocery order and for my O2 order to be delivered. That could keep me awake all day.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 4:08 (average 5:05). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Daily Kos: As reported in this diary, San Diego Fox News 5 used a picture of President Obama with the caption reading NO CHARGES while head anchorwoman Kathleen Bade was discussing a rape suspect.
Although it was up there the entire time during her lead-in, assignment editor Mike Wille said it was just a mistake. Since they knew it was a mistake, (and left it up there the whole time), why didn’t they at least offer a correction or apologize?
Asked why there was no on-air acknowledgment or apology for the error, Wille said: “They really don’t do that when it’s a small thing like that.”
Small thing? Look at the picture. You decide.
From Upworthy: Kids go to school to learn. So why are so many of them, as early as kindergarten, leaving in handcuffs?
You won’t find such intolerance in upscale all white schools.
From Washington Post: We are now just days away from a potential shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, and according to a new CNN/Opinion Research poll, Republicans would earn the majority of the blame for it:
The survey finds 53% of Americans would blame the Republicans in Congress if the department must shut down, while 30% would blame President Barack Obama. Another 13% say both deserve the blame.
That means that 47% are wrong!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
5:35 average unchanged. Isn't this another repeat? I guess sooner or later it has to happen.
Daily Kos – Yes, I saw this yesterday and was speechless. Not that it matters ethically or morally, but I didn't stay with the comments long enough to figure out whether this was a Murdoch-owned station or an affiliate. Legally that might make a difference in who gets sued. I do hope someone does.
Upworthy – It's not a bug, it's a feature. And that is all I will say about that today. Blood pressure.
Washington Post – Yes, but ONLY 47% are wrong! That is an improvement! Sad but true.
Cartoon – Actually, there's no "t" in it. That must have come in later, with the "Party" of the same name. Which reminds me that I was thinking, how come our founders, who started a revolution because they didn't like paying taxes, are heroes, but when black people object relatively mildly to having their children killed for no reason, they are thugs? I just don't get that.
OOPS! I stand corrected!
3:45 This puzzle had me going in circles.
3:54 That's all I can manage. I have a bug that is doing me in . . . I have been asleep since 2:30 pm and just got up to feed the livestock!
3:11 This shell game is over!
I might have been faster, had it been full.
Puzzle — 3:54 That's all I can manage. I have a bug that is doing me in . . . I have been asleep since 2:30 pm and just got up to feed the livestock!
Daily Kos — If this were "just a mistake", then where is the apology/retraction? I wonder if Wille has heard of defamation? This from Wikipedia:
I sure think it fits and Obama should sue their asses off. I am not one to sue, but this warrants it. This is so in your face and blatant that it should not be tolerated.
Small thing? Not on your sweet bippy!!!
Upworthy — Kudos to the groups that are coming together to force the issues and make positive changes that benefit all students. These bogus actions will scar kids for life.
Washington Post — Hmmmm!
The Republicanus/Teabaggerum continue to demonstrate that they are incapable of governing. I wonder what it will take for the sheeple who elected them to realise that they have hitched their wagon to a dead horse?
Cartoon — So Wesberry Vs Sanders solved a problem in Georgia that had implications for all states. So Republicanus/Teabaggerum just upped the ante with their all too conspicuous gerrymandering.
Personal — Thought I'd let you know that it was 15 C today (60 F) and the crocuses and narcissus are in full bloom. Tulips and daffodils are on their way too. In a few places the blossoming trees are out as well. It was gorgeous today and I slept all afternoon.
BTW, the BC Liberal government (they are more aligned with the federal conservatives) brought down a budget today which provides a tax rate reduction to the highest income earners and a balanced budget. Previous budgets had been predicated on significant LNG (liquified natural gas) revenues but those haven't come because of protests and LNG partners backing out. That very effectively puts the tax burden on the middle and working classes and price hikes on medical premiums etc that everybody has to pay.
See there are Republicanus/Teabaggerum in Canada!
I'm really jealous. We have now had 8 days of below zero weather at night and sometimes not ever reaching zero during the day. Another 5 days of this at least. Lots of snow here too. I'm hopefully awaiting crocuses and snow drops poking their pretty little heads up.
Well, I am jealous. We got a foot of snow yesterday, high today was 20F, with 2 to 3 more inches of snow expected tomorrow and subzero temps.
It only goy to 59°. I hope you feel better I also hopr patty and Edie dig out.
I hope you got in a nap today.
Daily Kos: It was not a small thing, and I am sure it was intentional. If the FCC was doing its job, Fox would be off the air..
Upworthy: A five year old was expelled in a local school district for pointing his finger and saying "bang" while playing cops n robbers on the play ground. The zero tolerance policies have led to zeor intelligence by school administrators. TC, the boy was white.
WashingtonPost: The 47% that would not blame the Republicans all watch Faux news.
Sadly, the O2 arrived after 4:00,
Daily Kos ~ This is not a small thing! Look how they react to faux pas on the other side. I really don't think it was a mistake either.
Upworthy ~ No. It would never happen in an upscale "white" school. They bury major crimes under the rug, never mind minor infractions or assumed infractions.
Washington Post ~ From Salon : "House Speaker John Boehner stopped by Fox News this past weekend to talk about the DHS funding fight and was asked if he was prepared to let DHS funding run out, and Boehner said: “Certainly. The House has acted. We’ve done our job.” I guess his "job" is to pander to the Tea Baggers and non-governance. I wonder if U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen's ruling on the lawsuit brought forward by 26 Republican led states to block implementation of the Immigration act will change things. Bonehead might feel a new confidence and drop the amendment from the funding Bill. This stoppage is a temporary halt of "illegals" who meet certain criteria to apply for citizenship and obtain SS numbers and 2 year work visas. The case will proceed to Court. I am confident Pres. Obama's Executive Action will be upheld because of precedence.
See today's Open Thread on Hanen.
Sorry about the aches stopping sleep – TC you can make up an easy and cheap magnesium solution by buying Epsom Salts as a powder in a chemists, then adding a small quantity to water and either putting a little in the palm of your hand or putting it into a spray bottle and spraying it on the aching muscles and rubbing it in. Sometimes the aches are so bad you may need several lots, but it is so worth it! Magnesium is marvelous at stopping aches in muscles.
Daily Kos – WHAT?!! That is defamation of character by Faux Noise – try putting up pictures of the anchors' faces whilst discussing serious crimes on a public tv network – and see how they would feel! Ah – have just read Lynn's comment – she's right.
Upworthy – what the heck is happening over there?! I am glad they are contending the charges.
Washington Post – seems there is 47% of the population who are too dim to cross the road unaided.
I'll try that.
I found relieve for aching and cramping leg muscles by taking a magnesium supplement. It worked very well.
Daily Kos: It was deliberate and racist. San Diego Fox News 5 will not get around to apologizing for their "mistake".
Upworthy: Advancement Project sounds like a very good idea and appears to be working. The kids that were arrested, per video, are of color which means only one thing… discrimination by the bully police and school officials. Pitiful. A future pipeline to harvest children for the private-for-profit prisons to house kids of color.
Washington Post: If the government does gets shut down, once again, the people who work for the DHS will remember this as an action done by the GO/TP/Koch Party and will think twice before voting in the next upcoming election for those responsible for the shut down. By the way, Ted Cruz still owes the people of US 24 billion dollars from the last government shut down. When is Cruz going to pay the owed bill?
Cartoon: Gerrymandering run amuck.
I agree that it was deliberate and racist.
The picture of our President, with “No Charges” emblazoned on it is not a faux pas! It is SOP for Fix Spews! They want to make that ” CHARGES FILED” so bad, they can taste it! How libelous and slanderous! They knew what they were doing! If it had Saint Ray-gun on there, it would have been taken down in milliseconds! So through with all of them! I’m afraid they are not through making life miserable for everyone in the US, though! They have 2 years left of this cluster-phuq!
