I trust you have had no trouble figuring out who the evil brothers are, since this is an election year and si many Republican politicians are sucking … nevermind.  Needless to say they are up to more despicable machinations, but in the midst of their criminal pursuit they actually did something right.

0929KochNeverMindThe Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity group has reportedly ended its advertising blitz for the cycle, and has shifted its effort to get-out-the-vote efforts. In North Carolina, it looks more like keep-out-the-vote. The group is behind a bunch of "incorrect" mailers, telling residents—and a cat—how to register to vote. Or rather, confusing them mightily about how to do it.

[H]undreds of people who received the forms have called and complained to the State Board of Elections, said Joshua Lawson, a public information officer for the board.

“It’s unclear where (Americans for Prosperity) got their list, but it’s caused a lot of confusion for people in the state,” Lawson said.

One resident even received a voter registration form addressed to her cat, he said.

“The phone calls have consistently been all day, every day,” Lawson said.

Adam C. Nicholson, a spokesman for Americans for Prosperity, declined to say how many people were sent the forms, how the group obtained the voter lists or how the mistakes occurred.

Among the misinformation in the mailer: two different deadlines for mailing registration applications; instructions to return applications to the N.C. secretary of state’s office, with a return envelope addressed to the State Board of Elections—with the wrong zip code; directing people to the secretary of state for more information on registering, which that office does not provide; giving the wrong phone number to the secretary of state’s office; telling people their county clerk will inform them of their voting precinct, which county clerks don’t do…

Clearly the evil brothers are up to no good, trying to interfere with the election process and scam people to block their exercise of their most important right in this nation, the right to vote.

Now, I suppose your wondering what they did right in the midst of all this slime.  They tried to register a cat to vote.  Now if people, who are so stupid that they would actually vote for a Republican, have the right to vote, cats should have the right to vote too.  Cats are are far better citizens than Koch NEVERMIND, more intelligent, more reliable, and more honest!!

  1. I have been getting bombarded with emails from TeapublicanTs asking me to doanate to their elections. They must have bought email lists the same as they buy everything else.

I caught Bill Maher this weekend and he had a great interview with Alexandra Pelosi, a journalist. She was filming in Wisconsin and asking people how they were going to vote. They didn't know the candidate's name but they were voting Republican. Every question they were asked, they responded as a Dem would except for how they would vote. She went on to complain about how people vote against their own best interests. This is what the Kochs do best – they brainwash people.

    • Patty, that is what I have been discussing with my best friend – and also my sister too recently – and they both think that people can tend to vote as their parents voted, just not thinking.  I can't otherwise understand how people can agree with everything Democratic and vote Repuglican – it sounds insane (insaniTEA perhaps)….  I remain mystified….

    • Republicans get votes from people who benefit from their policies, like the 0.1%, oil and coal companmy employees, military industrial comples employees, etc.  They also get votes from hatemongers of every description.  Finally, they get votes from prople who are so ignorant that they believe an alternate reality or don't actually realize what Republicans represent.

  2. The Kochs are not stupid, although they ae trying hard to look stupid.  As to the poor cat getting election mail, it is a not incomon phenomenon for pets to show up on mailing lists that are bought and sold, expecially when people name them after their great-aunt or uncle instead of "Fido" or "Jennyanydots."  I believe one cat once received a draft notice even.  It's great "news" fodder but, unlike the actual inconsistencies in the "information" provided, meaningless.

Like Lona (Care2), I want to hear them explain why those inconsistencies were "accidental," not intentional to confuse people.  And I want to hear that explanation in court, thank you very much.

I would ask everyone please, although I admit the Koch Grothers are GRIM, that people refrain from slandering Jakob and Wilhelm, whose shoes the Kochs are not even worthy to lick.  It's a bit like comparing Republicans in general to kind, civilized, peace-loving Neanderthals.

  3. I would love the cat to turn up to the polling station – not voting for the Repugs of course!

(It does remind me of Zoe D Katze – Zoe The Cat – who got advanced degrees by people just not checking stuff!).

  4. Koch’s got caught this time, but how many times have they gotten away with it and have people all screwed up on their voting rights? They are doing this all over the country!!
Why aren’t they charged with election tampering? Just an abysmal handling of the election process and they should be IN JAIL!!

  5. I agree with Vivian, why haven't they been charged with election tampering?  This isn't the first time a pet has received mail.  My sister had a cat named Kelly Marie, yes two names, and Kelly Marie got an offer for a credit card.

  6. I would love to see Americans for Prosperity nailed with charges for tampering with an election by the State Board of Elections . . . but I suppose that august body is dominated by Republicanus/Teabaggers, so pigs will fly sooner.  Getting the Kochs nailed is another matter.  They will have sufficiently insulated themselves from the matter.  I believe it is partly what is referred to as plausible deniability.
