I’m writing for tomorrow, day 118. The Fantasy Football draft made it a busy day. The TC Broncos are built around Manning, Ball and Welker, so I like the team I put together. However I’ve been running late ever since, and my COPD has been active today and prevented sleep.

From Daily Kos: James O. Pasco Jr., the executive director of the Fraternal Order of Police, didn’t much care for what President Obama had to say Thursday about racist police behavior in Ferguson, Missouri. Not that the president said it was racist. Here’s Mario Trujillo reporting:
"I would contend that discussing police tactics from Martha’s Vineyard is not helpful to ultimately calming the situation," director Jim Pasco said in an interview with The Hill.
"I think what he has to do as president and as a constitutional lawyer is remember that there is a process in the United States and the process is being followed, for good or for ill, by the police and by the county and by the city and by the prosecutors’ office," Pasco added. […]
"I’m not there, and neither is the president," Pasco said. "That is why we have due process in the United States. And this will all be sorted out over time. But right now, I haven’t seen anything from afar — and maybe the president has — that would lead me to believe the police are doing anything except to restore order."
What this Republican pig (individual description, not indicative of all police) fails to realize is that when the due process of which he speaks is subverted by those responsible for guaranteeing it, intervention is needed.
From Think Progress: At a political debate on Thursday night, a GOP candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives left the room laughing after he struggled to answer a question on his position on reproductive rights. Rep. Mike Coffman (R), who’s running for re-election in Colorado’s 6th congressional district, needed help from the crowd to remember what “birth control” is called.
I only hope that, for the sake of the gene pool, his wife either used birth control throughout their married life, or had her children by a brighter bulb.
From Right Wing Watch: David Brody has been teasing out clips of an interview he did this week with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and his wife, Judy. At one point in the interview, she played into the Religious Right’s persecution narrative by claiming that Christians like herself are losing their freedom of religion.

Her whining is a flat out lie. Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians hit opposition, when they attempt to impose their beliefs and/or piety codes on people who do not share them. I never face harassment for being a Christian, because I respect and honor others’ beliefs. Another problems with Republicans is that they disguise their political agenda as religion. I don’t remember Jesus ever suggesting that we take from the poor to give to the rich.

Daily Kos – Due process my – ahem. You know, I have read about it in the Constitution, but I don't believe I've seen it for years. Is it perhaps in hiding because it too is afraid of the police? At least in Ferguson, that might be a smart move.
Think Progress – Unfortunately, a little thing like that is unlikely to antagonize his base, which is a pity. His opponnt, Andrew Romanoff, is a true progressive. He was also a good friend of the late (and much missed) Ken Gordon, who founded Clean Slate Now, a group tackling the other end of Citizens United by encouraging candidates not to accept any contributions from PACs and by supporting and promoting those who take that pledge. Andrew is right at the top of the list. He is one Congressional District over from me, but I'd almost rather see him win than the Democrat in my own district. I encourage everyone to support him.
RWW – The only thing Jesus wanted the rich to take from the poor was their poverty. (Spoiler: They are not doing it, and won't be any time soon.)

My thought WRT the militarization of police force in Ferguson – and across the country:
If police departments insist on dressing up their forces in full military regalia, thereby sending the clear message to the citizens they have sworn to “Protect and Serve” that they view them as the enemy – they shouldn’t be surprised when the citizenry returns the sentiment in kind.
Cameras on every cop – or at least on every dashboard. To do otherwise is a conscious decision to hide some unseemly acts & facts.
I would add that every cou should be equipped with a service revolver that nobody else can fire. That "he went for my gun" libe is the police equivalent to "the check is in the mail".

Daily Kos: What you said is so true. There needs to be a federal investigation done there and soon. If everything I have heard on various news programs is true, there has been a massive cover up or negligence involved in the case. and BTW, I am sick of the Republican allusions to Cape Cod. Bush spent more time in Crawford, TX than he did in the White House.
Think Progress: Maybe he has spent too much time in Hobby Lobby and that is why he forgot what birth control is called.
Right Wing Watch: sob sob sob for her. Could it be that she has been forcing her beliefs on others and assuring them that only her beliefs are correct? Too many of these pseudo Christians use their beliefs to persecute others. My son says he doesn't remember any scripture that quotes Jesus saying the poor should pull themselves up by their sandal straps. Too many of those who are professing to be Christians and arguing that they are being persecuted don't actually know what Jesus taught.

1) Who is "they"? I know of nobody that says you can't be a Christian.
2) Trouble is sweetie, you ARE pushing it. How many on the right are saying the Founding Fathers created a Christian nation? . . . when in fact they did not . . . they created a secular nation.
