I planned on writing this yesterday, as usual, but today, day 81, is already here. I just ran out of day before I ran out of work I needed to complete. Now I have to rush as I need to rise early to get to physical therapy. I researched a second article, but was not happy with it. I trashed it and planned to look for another, but this will have to be it for today. Tomorrow will depend on how well I hold up being out and about on a 90Β°+ day.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Todayβs took me 4:40 (average 6:13). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From Upworthy: You would think it would be tough for comedian Hari Kondabolu to tie all of these things together in this snappy comedy set on "Conan," but he takes you from Seattle to China to the Garden of Eden like a boss. There’s something for everyone in this, but I personally like it all. What do you think?
In that chess game, the Republican white pawns would try to impeach the black king.
From Daily Kos: I should have known the moment Sarah Palin turned her "attention," generously speaking, to the swelling ranks of refugees at the border that America’s Dumbest Congressman would outdo whatever half-formed conspiracy theory she brought to the party. According to actual congressperson Louie Gohmert, who is a Texas Republican because that goes without saying at this point, immigrant children are flooding across the border to secretly vote for Demmycrats.
Warning: Barf Bag Alert!!
On a scale of one to ten, Louie "Go Go Goose-step" Gohmert is crazy!
From TPM: Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) on Wednesday downplayed the horrible conditions in U.S. Border Patrol detention centers by describing all of the supposed benefits undocumented immigrants are receiving there.
"They belong back with their families. When you look at the lovely way they’re getting treated — they’re getting free health care, free housing, you know, they’re watching the World Cup on big screen TVs," he said on Sean Hannity’s radio show, as recorded by the Huffington Post.
However, photos of the detention centers show immigrants crammed together sitting on cement floors and benches, and locked up in holding cells. Photos provided to the Houston Chronicle by Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) show some of the depressing conditions that undocumented immigrants are living in.
Obama has instructed the courts to move child refugees to the head of the line for determination of their refugee status and asked Congress to pass immigration reform and to fund help for the children. Republicans talk of caring for them, but most of their elected officials, like Neugebarfer scream to send them back to the gangs and blame what the gangs do on Obama.

5:23 I was dazzled!
3:48 No sun in my eyes.
3:59 No sun in my eyes but I am a bit disadvantaged. Both my hands have deep wounds on the palms and fingers from when Winnie went bezerk at the vet's. Here saw a dog (which was quietly waiting his turn) and that as that. I ended up being bandaged up by Winnie's surgeon. One finger turned blue immediately from a puncture and the rest are deep scratches and punctures. Hurt like hell and of course I keep knocking the wounds when I do anything. At least right now I can drink tea (not insaniTea) with my pinky more or less proerly in the air.
OUCH! heal quickly!
Lynn, that is why I started taking my cats in a carrier when we go to the vet. I hope you heal soon, I know how painful those wounds can be. Mom got cellulitis a couple of months ago from a cat bite.
Crunched!
Upworthy ~ I liked him too. He certainly has the one-liners down.
Daily Kos ~ We should stop making fun of poor old Louis. He can"t help it that he's dumb. It's Pres. Obama's fault.
TPM ~ Pres. Obama challenged Congress and the Senate to do something. The head of Hoeland Security also did. He said they were running out of money and need Congress to act. Will anything come of this? No. It's all the Presidents fault.
Cartoon ~ It's definitely a crap shoot.
5:00 My computer maven was here yesterday and tripled my memory. It didn't solve everything, and I don't expect it to show in every puzzle, but coming closer to TC than to average is an achievement for me. Did you know that polarized sunglasses can help you drive in the rain? I don't remember how it works exactly but you sort of see through the drops. We don't get much rain here but when we do it tends to be fast and heavy.
Upworthy – it stalled on me at 2:00, but what I saw was very good and I will keep working on it (going to YouTube didn't help). But TC, your chess game comment makes me wonder what they would do with a blue queen.
Daily Kos – New Mexico is the state where Republicans (God knows why) are trying to register foreign nationals – and also trying to convince natives that they must re-register before every election (they needn't). But even they are not dumb enough to try to register children.
Got to go, have help coming over – will be back later.
I'm back – my BFF was available on short notice to help me with my jungle of a yard. We didn't finish but every little bit helps.
TPM – When was the last time you heard of a kid, I know they are all ages but I am imagining 8-10, all excited about free health care? Aren't they usually as excited as a cat going to the vet? I doubt if "being treated lovely" ever goes through their minds. This sunds like more of the rich thinking the poor have it easy (the Lucky Ducky meme). Grrrr.
Cartoon – I see I would not have been able to be the first to say "it's a crap shoot" even had I stayed earlier. I do think, compared to drilling, shooting craps has much more respectability. Better odds, too.
TC, I join the chorus of "Don't overdo." We want to keep you, not work you to death.
24 hours later, made it through Hari. My favorite live was, "Why would I root for my natural predator, the athlete?" I'm stealing that one π
Upworthy: Enjoyed Hari Kondabolu's brand of standup comic commentary. Unusually different. lol.
Daily Kos:
Andy Borowitz | Americans Unhappy to Be Reminded That Sarah Palin Exists
[Sarah Palinsane] http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2014/07/americans-unhappy-to-be-reminded-that-sarah-palin-exists.html#entry-more
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) — A new poll released Thursday reveals that a broad majority of Americans describe themselves as “deeply unhappy” to have been reminded that the former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin exists.
Palin’s call for the impeachment of President Obama, a ploy to remind people that she still roams the earth, appears to have backfired, the poll shows.
With seventy-two per cent of respondents saying that they were “upset” or “very upset” to be reminded of her existence, Palin is one of three non-officeholders whose recent utterances have traumatized Americans.
According to the poll, eighty-one per cent were upset to be reminded that Ann Coulter exists, while a hundred per cent felt that way about the existence of the former Vice-President Dick Cheney.

To use TC's time honored phrase "Barf Alert": Sarah Palin- ‘You Don’t Bring A Lawsuit To A Gun Fight’ (VIDEO) http://samuel-warde.com/2014/07/sarah-palin-dont-bring-lawsuit-gun-fight-video/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SamuelWarde+%28Samuel+Wynn+Warde%29
Don't you love Andy?
Thanks, Jim, for the link. I sent the e mail tonight.
I hope you had a better day than you expected.
Upworthy: I love this site, and loved this segment. This comedian hit the mark all the way around. I tried to e mail it to my son, he has no FB account, couldn't do it. I know he would love it.
Daily Kos: He should change his last name to Goof mert. Wow did this cretin ever get elected to any office?.
TPM: The Republicans only care about fetuses, not actual, living children. They are using these poor kids against Obama as they have every single issue or non issue they can find. I wonder why he even wanted a second term. He has been treated miserabley since he was first elected.
Cartoon: YOu should submit that to the RNC, they might just adopt it as their logo, you could be rich!

Upworthy — "In that chess game, the Republican white pawns would try to impeach the black king." — Absolutely! The white Queen Sarah is yelling "Impeach that black King!" Won't take long for the pawns to join the chorus!
Daily Kos — Goh-merde (translation: Goh-shit for brains) is certifiable IMHO. Gomer Pyle has an IQ of 200 compared to this reject. He must have received his law degree from a Cracker Jacks box. And being elected . . . there must be people just like him because he was elected. I wonder if he will survive the 2014 midterms?
TPM — Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) said
Sorry guys, you know I luvs you, but I damn nearly coughed up a furball on this statement. When was the US the world's peacekeeper? That whole statement shows that Nutbauer is delusional. You'd never get a Republicanus/Teabagger to admit to the real intent of a "peacekeeping mission". Just look at Iraq. The stated purpose was WMD and freedom for the Iraqi people. The real reason for Bush and Cheney dancing the light fandango in Iraq — oil! But I digress. The US detention centres fetid and inhumane. I'd like to see Nutbauer spend a week in one with no special privileges. Bet he'd be crying for his mommy! . . . or a lawyer.
Cartoon — It's not a crap shoot, it's reality! If we don't mend our ways NOW, we will win the big prize . . . extinction!
Thanks everyone. I made it, albeit somewhat wilted. Tomorrow's out and about will be a longer walk on a hotter day.
