As sure as honey attracts flies, high profile shootings bring Republican gun nuts crawling out of the woodwork. As a former NRA sharpshooter in my youth, I never developed the perverse attraction to guns as symbols of manhood that these idiots seem to display. Consider Open Carry Texas.
At first, Open Carry Texas, a group of brazen, assault-rifle-carrying gun nuts, thought it would be fun to videotape their experiences walking into restaurants like Chili’s and Sonic in San Antonio fully armed, and then posting the encounters on youtube. They intended to stage a number of these demonstrations at area restaurants.
After being refused service and asked to leave, and perhaps realizing that this was an idiotic idea, especially after yet another horrific mass shooting made the news, the group took the videos off its YouTube account [Republicans delinked].
Mother Jones, however, got ahold of the video of these dangerous, sick losers, and reposted it. It’s embedded below for your viewingβ¦
Inserted from <Alternet>
Itβs hard to get more pathetic than those wimps. Their mommies should take away their dangerous toys until they learn to play in the sand box. However, in a way they have performed a public service by exposing just how worthy of ridicule they are.

I'm glad the businesses and people are making a stand against these nu jobs. I wonder when Holly Hobby's customers will speak up. It's mostly women who patronize their stores. I'm sure gun-totin' is a part of their religion.
Just track back through Alternet to the original Mother Jones story and the video is there. At least one of these idiots brought his little girl. Mostly stupid conversation. "Nobody likes us." Well, duh!
JL (Care2), thanks for the petition link. It's a MoveOn petition and you don't have to live in California.

Thanks JD.
So signed. Recently, I saw a statistic that 30 people in the UK were killed by guns I think last year. I can't remember the exact number in the US but it was in the thousands. At Chart of Gun deaths per i00,000 people shows the UK .25, Canada 2.38, the US 10.3.
I can envision a scenario where a parent who has a Concealed Carry Permit is packing heat while enjoying a lunch out on the patio of a Chili's with their kids. In saunters a a few iffy-looking males carrying their assault weapons, the parent springs into action and under "Stand Your Ground" aegis, and guns them down to protect their children.
That's why I think we ought to treat guns like we treat cars. They should be …
Licensed, registered, have age limits, learners permits, insurance, inspections – and in some cases, seat belts!
I have a question – if one turns to the interview on Mother Jones (click link in article – thanks for the alert Joanne) and isn't amazed and appalled – how low is our IQ – and shouldn't there be an IQ test for having a gun – to include this sad group in the video?
When these heavily armed men invade a peaceful diner and are asked to leave they come out with phrases like this –
"Man, that's the second time in a row! Daayam! Man we can't do NUTHIN!!! I feel like I'm a kid again, my mom won't let me do anythin!…." God help us all – what a sad way for evolution to end up (mind you they don't believe in evolution I'd think).
They keep saying 'Its not safe to eat here' – what in the name of super-large-paranoid-fantasies do they think is going to happen to them if they let go of their guns?! They cling to them as a toddler clings to a security blanket – the only difference is that a toddler just has a tantrum and stamps their feet if their blanket is taken away for some reason – this bunch appear to be toting assault rifles to a diner with children about and they appear to be scared of something – as as we all know, scared people or animals attack simply because they are frightened and feel threatened, confident ones don't. Help! I am really alarmed for the safety of my American friends!
Signed the petititon – thanks JL A and Joanne!

Already signed Jim. Thanks.
Signed petition you left Jim. The video is no longer being shown. The insanity needs to be put in control. The patients are ruling the roost they need to be calmed down.
The best way to combat the gun fetishists is economically. Starbuck's, Chili's and Chipotle didn't officially say anything about the open carry idiots until it became apparent the great majority of their customers didn't want to share their eating experience with a bunch of heavily-armed yahoos. The companies may wish to tiptoe around the whole gun control issue, but things that affect their bottom line they pay attention to. When they hear enough customers saying they will not patronize any establishment where open carry is allowed, they listen.
Exactly!
And businesses who think they can fence sit this issue will find there are many more customers on the don't bring your gun side.
I watched the video on Alternet. These men were all idiots. I am not against gun ownership, but I am against owning a gun with no back ground checks, or owning assault rifles. I am also against all the laws that are allowing concealed weapons to be almost everywhere. This is taking us back to the Wild Wild West and frontiers, with gun slingers and rampant killing.
Surely this is a site well worth seeing.
I watched the video on Mother Jones after trying YouTube.
The idiot that had his young daughter along with him should be charged with reckless endangerment of a minor. All these guys needed was a flat of beers, warm sunshine and all hell could have broken out. Listening to the conversation, these guys had a combined IQ of 5.
I know Americans are generally stoked by the right to bear arms, but quite frankly, enough is enough. There has to be some sanity taken back.
Just today, a pharmacist in New Jersey was found stockpiling chemicals, guns, ammo etc in his apartment. Here's the link http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/New-Jersey-Pharmacist-Ricin-Toxic-Weapons-261103411.html. If this is what some people are already doing, if it catches on, which I think it could with some of the wacko militias etc, as David Cay Johnston says "this will be the bloodiestthe world has seen" in reference to inequality's looming disaster. http://www.alternet.org/economy/bloodiest-thing-world-has-seen-david-cay-johnston-inequalitys-looming-disaster?paging=off¤t_page=1#bookmark
