I’m writing for tomorrow and hurrying to go out to run errands this afternoon. I actually feel fairly well rested, so far.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:44 (average 5:22). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube: RUSH is Furious COLBERT’s going to CBS! – Chris Hayes
I for two cannot wait!
From Upworthy: Watch this disturbing yet funny video. At 1:54, one of these dudes starts to realize the repercussions of his actions.
Sadly, this satire is completely accurate.
From Daily Kos:
Former South Carolina senator Jim DeMint, who left government in order to spend more time with other people’s money, has some curious notions about American slavery, the Civil War and the government. Specifically, he doesn’t think the American government had much of a role in ending slavery, it was just some stuff that happened.
Well the reason that the slaves were eventually freed was the Constitution, it was like the conscience of the American people. Unfortunately there were some court decisions like Dred Scott and others that defined some people as property, but the Constitution kept calling us back to ‘all men are created equal and we have inalienable rights’ in the minds of God. But a lot of the move to free the slaves came from the people, it did not come from the federal government. It came from a growing movement among the people, particularly people of faith, that this was wrong. People like [British abolitionist William Wilberforce] who persisted for years because of his faith and because of his love for people. So no liberal is going to win a debate that big government freed the slaves. In fact, it was Abraham Lincoln, the very first Republican, who took this on as a cause and a lot of it was based on a love in his heart that comes from God. [emphasis original]
While Abe was the first Republican President, Republicans were liberals then, and Democrats were conservatives. Lincoln massively increased the size of government to fight the Civil War, and that big government freed the slaves by winning the war. So DeMint has his head so far up his butt, that he has a great view of his own tonsils.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
2:58 That barrel may be used as a table, but it also a storage container for some fine hooch!
3:51 The fumes from that old whiskey barrel must have slowed me down.
3:33 Well that was a barrel of fun…NOT!
Bigfooted!!
5:27 – Average is good… 😳
Our Prime Minister, The Right disHonourable Stephen Harper is showing his Republicanus/Teabagger leanings yet again! He has proposed legislation that would affect one of our most important and fundamental rights: Our right to vote.
For the past six weeks, the Conservative Government has tried to force its so-called "Fair Elections Act" through Parliament despite the many protests of Canadians. In a few short weeks, this bill could become law — and time is running out to stop it.
If passed, this Act will prevent thousands of Canadians from voting — in particular seniors, Aboriginal peoples, and students, whose voices in shaping our country will be silenced.
This is bad for democracy, it is bad for Canada, and it is bad for each one of us.
Sound oh so Republicanus/Teabagger? I thought so! Here is a petition:
http://petition.liberal.ca/call-for-free-vote-on-fair-elections-act/?
I signed your petition. It's convenient that a postal code shows up on the form because I wouldn't know what to put there.
I thought some might like that! Thanks Patty. See, Republicanus/Teabaggeritis is so contagious!
Lynn, I signed the petition, too.
Petition opposing Republican TEAbuggery in Canada signed. Down with Harper (R-CAN)!!
YouTube ~ He will be a welcome addition to Late Night. But, I will miss his character on The Colbert Report. He was a master of satire. The character will not be the host. it will be the Real man.
Upworthy ~ That's McCutcheon in nutshell. Sad. Isn't it?
Daily Kos ~ Jim DeMint never did have a firm grasp on reality. The only thing he had right was that Lincoln was a Republican. Yes he was. He wasn't a Teapublican like we have now.
Cartoon ~ There was probably dancin' in the streets that day. I mean on K Street.
YouTube: Congratulations to Colbert for his new show, Late Night.
PETITION: In Lynn Squance's box above signed.
Upworthy: McCutcheon decision from the Supreme Court – Unbelievable.
6:05, and I managed to keep the time the pop-up stole down to 6 seconds.
YouTube – Yeah, I can probably get him on CBS. His satire is so real that what I have seem in clips I find uncomfortable to watch. Don't a large chunk of Conservatives think he really is a Conservative because he does it so well? They may have a surprise coming.
Upworthy – What satire? Isn't this straight reporting?
Daily Kos – Isn't this one of the guys who insists God created the world in 6 days? But slavery disappeared because of evolution? Yeah, right.
Cartoon – Also the day the South started the Civil War by firing on Fort Sumter. Not the same year, of course. All in all a great day for Republicans.
Another instance of 'in your face' Teabaggeritis straight from conservative cow country, Alberta. To be sure, both Ron Anders the incumbent, and Ron Liepert the challenger, are facing off in the same riding, and they are both Conservatives. Reminds me of a certain Kentucky Turtle!
This is proof that Republicanus/Teabaggeritis is a communicable disease that has wandered over the 49th parallel.

Seems Anders, the staunch Teabaggeresque Alberta Conservative who many thought could never be unseated because he has already served 17 years, was indeed unseated by Liepert who is less Teabaggeresque. Now that was just the Conservative nomination. I wonder what will happen when the full election comes in 2015? A Liberal, or better still a New Democrat, defeating the Conservatives would be supercalifragilistic!
Puzzle — 2:58 That barrel may be used as a table, but it also a storage container for some fine hooch!
You Tube — Good on Colbert! Rush is pissed off because he recognises Colbert's gifts of satire and solid liberal politics, and the stronger national stage that has just opened up for him. Limbaugh, eat dirt! Whine somewhere else!
Upworthy — Well done! But will everyone understand it as satire? And how many Americans are paying attention to McCutcheon and the selling of their country to the plutocrats?
Daily Kos — Trying to rewrite American history yet again, Jimbo? The old Republican party of Lincoln is long dead! So what's in a name anyways? DeMint is, as always, a Republicanus/Teabagger who hasn't learned his lessons yet.
Cartoon — FDR was a man not afraid of doing what needed to be done! I'd like it a whole lot more if the elephant would be on his back in the middle of the frame and the caption said "Nov 4, 2014 the Republican Party died!"
Glad you are feeling better.
Youtube and Upworthy: I couldn't get sound on either of these videos, but I had all ready seen the one from Upworthy and it is a good one.
Daily Kos: Jim DeMint has shown that position for his head more than once. He has shown complete ignorance with these statements
It was a sad day for our country when FDR died. We have need of more men and women with his ideas and political courage.
Thanks everyone.
I goofed before. Quit Day is one week after Tax Day,
I'm excited and all the better if it pisses off RUSH… 😈
Two Thumbs down.
