Tell it like it is, Alan!

Florida seems a most unfortunate place of late.  They are infamous for Republican election theft, racist voter purges, a governor that demands drug testing so his own drug testing lab will profit, and the list goes on.  But Florida has some great things too, and one of those things is Alan Grayson!

teabag-obsceneRep. Alan Grayson appeared on Al Sharpton’s show to speak the truth about the Tea Party last week…

…Then he sent out a fundraising email, which apparently caught the attention of a Politico Republico reporter:

Matt Gorman, rapid response director for the National Republican Congressional Committee, denounced Grayson’s fundraising tactics.

“There’s no excuse for the hateful words and imagery used by Congressman Grayson,” he said in a statement. “House Democrats should swiftly and strongly condemn him and return the money he has raised for them. This hate-filled rhetoric has Americans fed up with Washington.”

Grayson defended the email in a statement Tuesday afternoon, saying the tea party has long used racist and insensitive terms and imagery to refer to African Americans, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and gays.

“[T]here is overwhelming evidence that the Tea Party is the home of bigotry and discrimination in America today, just as the KKK was for an earlier generation,” Grayson said. “If the shoe fits, wear it.”

And hey, let’s not forget that just a few days earlier we had Larry Klayman out there with his Confederate flag pals calling for the President to put down his Koran and come out with his hands up. Nothing racist about that.

This is one of those rare cases that I have o say that perhaps Alan should apologize. He was slightly unfair to the Ku Klux Klan, when he compared them to the Tea Party. Alan remains the best Florida has to offer.

  1. And don't you love it when the Tea Perps always accuse "libtards" of playing the race card?

  2. Sorry, TC. I must agree with Alan Grayson. They are no more popular than the Klan.

  3. Sorry, Cat Man, I agree with Alan on this one.

    ROFLMAO at the 'toon!

    • Terrie, I think you'll find that your Cat Man is being really sardonic . . . "… perhaps Alan should apologize. He was slightly unfair to the Ku Klux Klan, when he compared them to the Tea Party. "  He's saying, in my mind, that the Tea Party is worse than the Klan, and I think I'm with him on that.  With the Klan, you know they are racists.  They may hide their faces under pointy hats and masks, but they are straight with their racism.  On the other hand, too many Teabaggers are racist but they try to couch their racism in civility so that it is not as overt.  Just my take on it.

  4. What has happened to the MSNBC – they used to let us watch their videos – no longer!

Good for Alan Grayson for telling the truth – patently the GOP believe in 'shooting the messenger'…

  5. Grayson is among the best that America has to offer, but most people in Florida don't (and won't) know anything about that. American politics remains stuck on stupid because a large segment of the voting public is stuck on stupid. What's hard to fathom is that despite a multitude of easy answers, there are no easy solutions to any of the environmental, ecological, economic and social issues that led America and the rest of global society to the edge of the abyss.

I agree with you Phil, Many people in Florida aren't too bright… 🙄

  6. Alan Grayson is a man that I support and says what I think publicly… ➡

  7. "…For far too long you have given this group of racist, bigoted haters cover to keep being bigots and haters by legitimizing them. If one Congressman has the balls to call them what they are, he isn't the problem. Until we clean out the cancerous slime that dwells in the upper rims of hater hell by shining some light on who they really are, the disease will spread…."

This is one cancer for which there is a cure . . . do not elect a Teabagger or a Republicanus!  Put them all in the unemployment line, PERMANENTLY!!!!!

Alan Grayson is spot on and owes nobody an apology.  If the Teabaggers can`t handle the truth, then they should mend their ways!  Fat chance that will happen.

  8. Alan Grayson spoke the truth, and good for him.  I hope Floridians were listening.

If there were ten or more of Ted Cruz we would all have to move to Canada.

  9. So the more publicity for the Tee-pee-ers the better! Tho^ when they look back on it,they will think PROBABLY NOT!

  10. Come February us Progressives should work up a nice Valentine to send to Alan Grayson.  And maybe a couple of others, like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.  So they know how much we love them.
