I’m writing early for tomorrow, day 65, but will pre-make a place to plug in the results of this evening’s meditation on the Holy Ellipsoid Orb, as I do for the daily puzzles. The sun just hit the breezeway, so it looks like my hope for a cool day was in vain.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:08 (average 4:58). To do it click here. How did you do?
Religious Agony:
Losing to the Seachickens? Oh the humiliation!! Thank goodness it doesn’t count!
Short Takes:
From Bill Moyers: Bill’s guest, veteran activist and organizer Marshall Ganz, joins Bill to discuss the power of social movements to effect meaningful social change. A social movement legend who dropped out of Harvard to volunteer during Mississippi’s Freedom Summer of 1964, Ganz then joined forces with Cesar Chavez of the United Farmworkers, protecting workers who picked crops for pennies in California. Ganz also had a pivotal role organizing students and volunteers for Barack Obama’s historic 2008 presidential campaign. Now 70, he’s still organizing across the United States and the Middle East, and back at Harvard, teaching students from around the world about what it takes to beat Goliath.
This is a 34 minute video, but it’s well worth the time to watch it.
From NY Times: An outlet of Fox Entertainment said on Friday that it would not be involved with the hotly debated Hillary Rodham Clinton mini-series on NBC, after all.
Isn’t it ironic that the miniseries on Hillary that so enflamed Rabid Reince Priebus was actually slated to be produced by the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda? This proves that these programs had nothing to do with wanting the philosophical head of the Republican Party, Rush Limbarf to moderate their debates.
From The Hill: Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) said recent executive actions by President Obama, including a plan to extend high-speed Internet connections to virtually every school in the nation, demonstrate a "blatant" attempt to subvert the will of the American people.
"It’s just a flagrant, you know, arrogant disregard not just for the current Congress," Grimm said in an interview with Fox News. "Look, it’s not about me personally. That’s not what this is about. You think about who is the Congress? It really — it is the voice of the people."
That is not at all true. It is a blatant (and sadly successful) attempt to subvert the will of the American people that 1.17 million more Americans voted for House Democratic candidates than Republican in 2012, but Republicans control the House 234 – 201. In this case the voice of the people comes from the minority.

3:52 Ever since I stopped making payment on my Jag and they repossessed it, I forgot how nice the hood ornament looked.
3:29 I'm more of a dog person. Is TomCat or Lynn going to be the big cat today?
3:56 I like small and big pussy cats but that is one cat that I could not out run!
Wooo Hooo! And not even two under! 🙂
How on earth can Rep Michael Grimm say that getting internet into schools is arrogant disregard for the current Congress? What IS it that they don't want everyone to find out?!
Everything, Pat. An ignorant electorate is easier to dupe, and an open edication sourse makes it harder for them to control what people think.
How did you do? 5:49
What a Great Story… This man veteran activist and organizer Marshall Ganz is an inspiration. 💡
Keep up the puzzle work. You are creeping up on us.
Ditto what Jerry said!
WRT the Hillary documentary, the RNC ban & Faux "News" … just like parody, Rethuglicans don't do irony well, either.
They are only competent at TEAbuggery!
Grim has it all wrong. Congress is NOT the voice of the people. It is the voice of 1% of the people. How can giving high speed internet to schools be damaging? These people are sheer idiots.
They are smart enough to know they can't control the Internet.
Puzzle — 3:56 I like small and big pussy cats but that is one cat that I could not out run!
Moyers — Very interesting discussion that bears listening more than once. I think the big take aways for me were persistence ance 'big isn't necessarily stronger' (big does not guarantee a win!)
Martin Espada: "The change that we want comes from below, it comes from the movement."
Bernie Sanders: "… progressive grassroots movement"
RoseAnn DeMoro: "it's not the politics of hated, it's not the politics of fear, it's the politics of hope."
NY Times — That was only Limbarf's wet dream . . . the ass is so full of himself!
The Hill — I can just see Grimm going apoplectic! What Grimm was really saying: "It’s just a flagrant, you know, arrogant disregard not just for the current Republicanus/Teabagger party," Grimm said in an interview with Fox News. "Look, it’s not about me personally. That’s not what this is about. You think about who is the Republicanus/Teabagger party? It really — it is the voice of the 1%. We can't have our children exposed to all sorts of ideas. We need to keep them ignorant. We need to keep them within party bounds!"
Cartoon — 18 August 2066 a blank picture of where the earth used to be until humans screwed it up and killed Mother Earth.
Wooo Hooo! And not even two under! 🙂
Persiatence is indeed the key. Vietnam taught me that. That win was a long time coming.
Limbarf doesn't want the job, he says.
Bingo!
Too right for comfort!
