Writing for tomorrow, day 54, I’m quite drained.  It reached 101° at my desk yesterday.  That has dropped to 86°, but the sun just hit the “breezeway” so it will skyrocket.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:01 (average 5:41).  To do it, click here.  How did you do? (Dang dawg!) 😉

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker:As House Republicans began their five-week summer vacation, their leader, House Speaker John Boehner, urged them to rest up for “the many symbolic and meaningless votes that lie ahead.”

Mr. Boehner, while congratulating his colleagues on having voted to repeal Obamacare forty times, reminded his fellow-Republicans that their work is “far from over.”

This really is humor and satire. REALLY! You don’t believe me? That’s OK.  On this, I wouldn’t either!

From NY Times: Wendy Davis, the Texas state senator who captured the national spotlight with an 11-hour filibuster against restricting abortion rights, turned up in Washington on Monday with the news that she was considering a run for governor.

“I can say with absolute certainty that I will run for one of two offices: either my State Senate seat or the governor,” Ms. Davis said after a luncheon and speech at the National Press Club.

This could be Texas’ only opportunity in the near future to put forward a Democrat with a high enough profile to have a good shot at winning. Because the whole state votes for Governor, Republicans can’t Gerrymander the job.

Cantor earned another BS in Billshitology. Elections like Detroit’s are what Republicans plan for us all, one’s that are for show only.

  1. Texas State Senator Wendy Davis for Governor!  Love the cartoon TC – how on earth you keep functioning with the temperature so high I just do not know!  Heroic.

  2. 3:54  Cute dog — love hose eyes — but I am sure someone will bark louder than me!

  3. Puzzle — 3:54  Cute dog — love those eyes — but I am sure someone will bark louder than me!

The New Yorker — One has to actually work, and work hard, in order to need a vacation. But then, Republicanus/Teabaggers don't know the true definition of work! To them, work is watching others sweat.

What would we do without AB to keep us grounded and chuckling a bit?!

NY Times — Well, that would be a great change for Texas — a Democrat woman governor!  If Dewhurst was running for governor, after his many falls from grace during Davis' filibuster, I think she could make a good showing.  But what about Abbott.  One commenter says that Abbott would be a tough nut to crack.

MSNBC — Cantor definitely has his PhD in Bullshitology!  Personally, I think the 4 year old mayor noted on the show could get things moving in Washington and do a much better job!

Cartoon — "As soon as the anaesthetic wears off, yank it out!"

    • Dawg Mashed.

They can watch me sweat.  I need a permanrent vacationb from this heat!

I'd have to defer to Texans on that one, because I'm not yet familiar with Abbott.

      Amen!

I won't even ask WHAT tou want to yank out. 😉

  4. Cartoon – So did Alison Grimes get that from you?  I hear she brought down the house with it at a 3-way introductory event in Kentucky the other day. 🙂

  5. How many more times do you suppose they will vote to end Obama care, knowing the Senate will never pass the bill?  If they are so worried about spending you would think they might look at how much each of these votes cost.

Boehner looks as tired as Harry Reid does.

Cantor really should apply for a job at Fox.  That is where he belongs.

I hope Davis does run for governor, I think she will get the women's vote.

Cute story about the 4 year old mayor.

Alison Grimes said it first!  I still haven't seen the whole video from Fancy Farms, hopefully, I will be able to find it this week end.
