Yesterday, I woke up a few minutes early and just stayed up. Heaven knows ehwn I’ll be up today, though – the eclipse was last night. Since eclipses go by real time rather than by clocks, I couldn’t be exact about exactly when it would start, but I was guessing somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes after midnight. I’ll let you know after the fact.

HuffPost – Paul Gosar Censured For Violent Anime Video Targeting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Quote – The vote passed mostly along party lines, with only two Republicans — Reps. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and Adam Kinzinger (Ill.), who is retiring — seeing it necessary to condemn Gosar for sharing a video that depicted him slicing the throat of one of their Democratic colleagues.
Click through for more. Yes, he was stripped of all his committee assignments, thank God. And forced to stand alone in fromt of the House to hear the censure read aloud. However, he was unapologetic. He has learned nothing.

politicsrus – What Has Joe Biden Done For Us? (four episodes)
I did use Episode #1 on the video thread, but now that there are four episodes, I have decided to post the links here, together, rather than separating them out. The last three in particular are excellent messaging of what is in the Infrastructure bill (now law) I hope they will continue coming out.
Episode 1 – Accomplishments
Episode 2 – Water
Episode 3 – Broadband
Episode 4 – For Children

Daily Kos (Rule of Claw) – The Math Didn’t Add Up: The Reason President Biden Asked The FTC To Investigate Gas Gouging!
Quote – So the formula is price of crude divided by 42, divided by 2 times 3. Going by that gas pricing should be about $2.78 per gallon. Of course this is not a perfect assessment as there are from time to time other market factors to consider. But not apparently, this time. And I for one do not believe the President would make this move capriciously. This is the sort of thing that you do when you already know the answer and just want the suspect to implicate themselves.
Click through for ancillary details. There is no low the GOP will not stoop to. The only surprise here is that they never tried it before.

  1. Cartoon: Good Grief! The Senate rejected the Treaty of Versailles, which formally ended World War I, in part because President Woodrow Wilson had failed to take senators’ objections to the agreement into consideration.
    *wiki
HuffPo: Not embarrassed, and not caring. What a vile man. Glad that he lost his committee assignments. He needs to go, imho.
Politicsrus: Excellent videos. #4 is especially important.
    FFT: Yep.
Quick note here: Company is coming in, so I’ll be out for a bit. Beautiful day, and great football weather, imho.
    Enjoy your day.

THIS JUST IN: “NEW : Beto O’Rourke raised $2 million in the first 24 hours of launching his gubernatorial campaign! ~ Patrick Svitek ~ “GO, BETO!” *pb*
    2. “Huge milestone: The United States has now donated 250 million COVID-19 vaccine doses worldwide. We continue to lead the global fight against COVID-19 and are proud to have donated more vaccine dosesglobally than any other nation.” ~ Wendy Sherman, DeputySecState~
    3. “If Joe Manchin was so worried about inflation then why did he sit by while his daughter raised the price
    of epi pens 500%?” ~ Harry M. Rosenberg ~
    4. “Today’s news: 10% of 5-11 year olds vaccinated in just 10 days of a full rollout Economy added 600k more jobs than previously thought Ratings agencies say Build Back Better will not add to inflation Major retailers say their shelves are stocked.” @JoeBiden’s agenda is working.

    5. “Jobs. Infrastructure. Safer drinking water. A big win for Ohio. ~ Sherrod Brown ~

      • Ditto Joanne’s posted image to the 100th.
Despicable. I’m shocked that he was not found guilty of any charges.

      • This cartoon was made in 2020 but it couldn’t be more to the point now, with the whole GQP awarding Rittenhouse his medal. Biden has stated he stands with the jury’s not-guilty verdict; we can only hope that the prosecutors will appeal. Otherwise this is a sign for the GQP to incite another coup or a civil war.

    • TC knew so much about history.  We are all still learning from his cartoons.

You enjoy your company and your day!

      TJi #1 – Wonderful!
      TJI #2 – Wonderful!
TJI #3 – Sadly, we all kow – he’s not worried about infloation. Just following orders.
TJI #4 – Of course it is. What isn’t working is the MSM.
TJI #5 – I do love Sherrod (but Connie has nothing to fear from me.)

    • Agree with Joanne about learning even more about TC’s cartoon. We do love learning more.
TJI#1: Fantastic news. I feel he’ll win this one.
TJI#2: Great news. Grateful to the manufactures for making this possible too.
TJI#3: Heartless, doesn’t give a hoot about the people.
TJI#4: Way to go President Biden. Keep up the great work.
TJI#5: Excellent. Going in a positive direction.
Hope you enjoy your time with the company that’s coming, Pat. 22

    • TJI #1: Despite my dislike of the money involved in politics: Go Beto!

      TJI #3: She did? Ouch.

  2. Comment from Mitch –

‘Toon: Wondering why that happened, I did a miniscule bit of research, and found some fascinating background about it. among other things, there was too much ego involved.
HP: NOt only did he learn nothing, but he re-sent the stupid cartoon! But, one can not expect an unmitigated ass like him to learn…anything! Kick that ass out of congress.
Politicsrus: Will the message be lost on the GQP supporters in the land? Hopefully, by the time of the ’22 election, folks will be seeing real life , positive,
    changes.
DK: I did not see anything pointing to the GQP having gone to a new low in this regard. Are you suggesting that the fossil fuel industry has raised prices
in order to impact Biden’s approval ratings? THAT would not surprise me. And, Biden’s move is unprecedented, as per mymemory.
    FFT: Of course!
    Mitch D.

Or, are you suggesting that the gas prices are up because of fossil fuel and GQP purposeful complicity?  On the heels of COP26, or without that as a factor, this would not surprise me.  Any bit of leverage they can bring to bear upon the ’22 election results is in play.  They have the same bottom as their Orange Asswipe…none.
    Mitch D.

  3. Cartoon: How awful. After reading Pat’s and Mitch’s comment, it tells me that they were anti working together then, and never changed their ways. To this day they’re still rotten to the core.
HuffPpst: What a heartless bas*ard. Heard this on the news yesterday and was shocked to see that he turned right around and resent the nasty message/cartoon again. To me he should lose his seat for doing that again.
Politicsrus:  Great YouTube videos. Short but sweet and important.
DK: It’s outrageous. I hope he can get to the bottom of this issue.
Food for Thought: Got that right.
I didn’t see the eclipse during the night. I did get a couple of emails with photos to enjoy later.
    Hope your day went well.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  4. I gather most Americans didn’t see the eclipse because of the late hour or – when up – because of clouds. I was very fortunate.

The moon rose just after dusk and this was what this blood moon looked like then (imagine trees instead of the skyscrapers of the Gold Coast, 250 km from here). I also clearly saw Venus, Saturn and Jupiter align perfectly. Such a treat.

Cartoon: One of the many treaties the US refused to sign or simply ignored.

HP: Why would Gosar be apologetic? He’s got the whole darn GQP – 2 backing him.

DK: You’d think the GQP and their masters have squeezed enough money out of Americans. But no; in times of a raging pandemic and a faltering income for many, they needed that last drop squeezed out with gas gauging.

FFT: Robert Reich’s cartoon could be applied to almost any proposal put forward by Democrats and rejected/not allowed to pass by Republicans.

    • What a beautiful photo of the eclipse. It’s stunning.
Wish I could of seen it last night, but it was overcast with fog moving in. No chance of seeing it here in San Diego.
      Thanks for posting it, Lona

    • When I saw that photo, I said, “Oh, wow!” out loud.  Not that there was anyone to hear me except me, but golly, what a sight.  I have missed so many because of cloud cover I was just greateful to see what I did see.
