Yesterday, I left home at a little before 7 am (Mountain), and I got back a little before 7 pm (ditto,) completely exhausted. I am sure part of that was because I didn’t sleep all that well Saturday night … although I managed not to yawn or feel drowsy while driving – but that was also exacerbated by the fact that the Air conditioner kept overheating. I know what to do when that happens, but I’ll be emaiing my mechanic to ask whether I should really have to. So, this will be it for the Open Thread today. There will be a full video thread, because I already had that ready with holdovers and leftovers (but good ones.) I’ll make it back for comments eventually.  Oh yeah, almost forgot, Virgil says “Hi” to all.

  1. You had a full day of driving (to & fro), I understand why you’re tired. Sounds like you had a good visit with Virgil. Hope that you get your car’s AC fixed. Glad that you got home with no potholes to worry about either. Get your rest, and take care, Joanne.  Good Night!

    Cartoon: Yep. Sad.
    FFT: Right on…right ON!

    • TJI #1 – I miss her terribly. I’m sure that’s why I dreamed about her a couple of weels ago. I have a tote bag wih her image which I keep near my desk (It has the capton “I dissent.” I got it from Wonkette.) The whole nation, even the world, misses her, even though some idiots don’t realize it.
TJI #2 – THeir lives are not as important to them as “owning the libs.
TJI #3 – Sounds like an interesting yard sale. Sorry I missed it.
      TJI #4 –

TJI #5 – Good news. I’m pretty sure I get the distinction between technical and non-technical violations, and I approve. And I suppose there are people in the world who deserve to be in Rikers Island – but probably notenough to fill it.

    • TJI#1: She did so much for us. I miss her too.
      TJI#2: Shameful fools.
TJI#3: Yep, but so glad these rioters fizzed out.
TJI#4: Sad, So many deaths. Thanks Joanne for the photo.
      TJI#5: Good news.

  2. Cartoon: A sad day we will always remember.
Food for Thought: A definite MUST DO.
Glad you had a nice visit with Virgil.
Wow, 12 hours on the road, that’s a long time driving. Hopefully you’re able to get some rest today. Plus I hope you’re able to contact your mechanic about the A/C overheating. Will it be cooling off there in Colorado soon that you won’t need to use it? Or like here we’ll still have Santa Ana’s off and on till mid/late October.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

    • Will it be cooling off in Colorado?  In previos years I would have said, sure, here in Colordo Springs, before the end of the month, though maybe not in Los Animas, which is close to Kansas.  This year, I really don’t know.  The forecasts are looking warmer than usual, even here.  I haven’t lookad at Las Animas forecasts for a while (because I knew what it would be like there.)  Maybe, maybe not.

  3. On the way in you still have a visit to look forward to; on the way back you need every ounce of concentration to get back home safe. Airconditioners with a mind of their own make the way back all the more exhausting. Please have it looked at, Joanne, in order for you to get home safely again next Sunday.

Cartoon: Terror has always been very loosely defined and depends very much on which side you are on.

FFT: It’s time to keep your promises, Democrats.
