Yesterday was finally cooler – a little birthday present from the weather to me. I actually managed to spend a little time knitting on a cold-weather sweater which I can hardly bear to touch when it’s really hot.

Short Takes –
The Hill – Why we need to stop talking about HIPAA
Quote – “What HIPAA actually does is protect against impermissible disclosures of your protected health information. HIPAA has 115 pages of information and contains hundreds of ways its rules can be violated. But a private business asking you whether you’ve been vaccinated isn’t one of them.”
Click through for specific reasons why HIPAA has nothing to do with vacciation “passports.”
Crooks and Liars – Capitol Rioter Who Called It ‘The Best Day Of My Life’ Now Under Arrest
Quote – Donald Smith, a New Jersey UPS employee, was arrested in connection with Capitol attack. A coworker told the FBI that Smith showed up to work showing off pictures and claimed he was in Nancy Pelosi’s office and “that it was the best day of his life.”
Click through for not much more, but a couple of pictures and a link to the Newsweek story they got it from. I love these “bragging backfire” stories.
Mark Meadows Says He’s Meeting With Trump And Shadow ‘Cabinet Members’ On ‘Real Plans’
Quote – He didn’t identify any of the “Cabinet members.” It was unclear if he was referring to Trump’s former Cabinet members or if some new group has been formed and is being referred to as a Cabinet. As for the plans under discussion, Meadows told Newsmax: “I’m not authorized to speak on behalf of the president, but I can tell you this: We wouldn’t be meeting tonight if we weren’t making plans to move forward in a real way, with President Trump at the head of that ticket.”
Click through for full story (and video). This was a TJI – but it requires more attention. This is very dangerous stuff.

Cartoon: No…the R’s could care less.
C&L: Best day of his life, eh? The best day was when he was arrested, (and the others). imho
HuffPo: Yikes! Scary stuff and remarks….and in supporting TOT. ugh!
FFT: Yes, (a thousand x’s) Yes!
Today, support staff went back to school(s), I kinda miss those days…and being with the students. Hope that you have a good rest of your day, and Thank you, Joanne for post.
TJI: TJI Jim Jordan and Kevin McCarthy should be worried about the 1/6 investigation because they are witnesses to Trump’s intent and conduct. ~ Eric Swalwell ~
2. “Donald Trump has been a failure his entire life. He’s had only two successes. 1. Convincing people he’s not a failure. 2. Continuing to commit crimes and never getting caught. Boy, I hope that ends soon.” ~ Rob Reiner ~
3. “Mark my words: We will see Trump’s tax returns.” ~ Amy Klobuchar ~ (May 23rd, 2019) “This aged well.” ~ Amy Klobuchar ~ (July 30th, 2021)
4. “When Trump fired Sec Def Esper on Nov. 9, I was alarmed. When AG Bill Barr resigned on Dec. 14, I was alarmed. Trump wasn’t quite able to follow through on removing the Acting AG and FBI and CIA heads. But this was the closest we’ve ever come to a genuine presidential usurpation.” ~ Bill Krystol ~
5. “The only thing Trump has in common with class, are the last three letters of the word.” ~ Victor M. ~
TJI #1 – I may have that in a video – though I may not, he’s been speaking a lot and I try to keep the vids short.
TJI #2 – Oh, so do I Rob. So do I!
TJI #4 – And it still didn’t work. But that probably was because narcissists are so ignorant about other people.
TJI #5 – Yup.
TJI #1 – We all want to hear from Gym Jordan & Qevin McCarthy … before the Select Committee … UNDER OATH!
TJI #2 – The Former Guy has skated wayyyyy too long!
TJI #3 – It truly has aged well. But it’s now time to pop that cork!
TJI #4 – I think I’m repeating myself, but it bears repeating:
A curious fact that Trump FIRED his then Secretary of Defense Mark Esper & replaced him w/ a Trump loyalist Christopher Miller; as well as getting rid of Esper’s Chief of Staff and replacing him w/ Kash Patel, a former staffer for Rep. Devin Nunes; and a new Under Secretary of Defense AFTER losing the election indicates Trump was likely thinking about a coup.
TIMELINE:
Nov. 6, 2020
Election lost
Nov. 9, 2020
Mark Esper FIRED & Chris Miller hired as acting Defense Sec.
Nov. 10, 2020
Ezra Cohen hired as Acting Under Secretary of Defense
Nov. 11, 2020
Kash Patel (former staffer to Rep. Devin Nunes) hired as DOD Chief of Staff
It definitely bears repeating. And you are not the only one repeating it, by a long shot. That doesn’t mean you should stop – it’s just to encourage you that you aren’t alone. You’re not a voice crying in the wilderness It’s being said and heard.
TJI#1: Yes they should. I can hardly wait till they take the oath and start answering the questions.
TJI#2: So true. I too hope it comes to an end for him.
TJI#3: Finally!
TJI#4: Appreciate what Nameless listed.
TJI#5: Yep.
‘Toon: Of course not.
TH: Exactly. When MTG went off on that reporter about her HIPAA rights, she was, as usual, full of it!
C&L: Yeah, “Bragging backfires,” wunnuerful!
HP: Lunacy in full view!
FFT: He will not be stopped until he is indicted, tried, incarcerated.
TJI#1: Swalwell rocks!
TJI#2: Amen!
TI#3: Amy speaketh the truth.
TJI#4: When Barr resigned, I was rather delighted.
TJI#5: Except for those 3 letters, they are in entirely different universes.
Why we need to stop talking about HIPAA
I get the point, but I’m not sure we should stop talking about HIPAA. People just need better education about what it entails.
And MTG Greene does NOT HELP ONE BIT w/ her nonsensical bloviating blather. She’s dumb as a stump – and twice as ugly.
Capitol Rioter Who Called It ‘The Best Day Of My Life’ Now Under Arrest
We’re coming for all you seditious traitors.
Mark Meadows Says He’s Meeting With Trump And Shadow ‘Cabinet Members’
So glad Rep. Ted Lieu is on OUR side!
https://twitter.com/tedlieu/status/1421187577445556232
I question whether the people who think HIPAA has anything to do with “vaccine passports” are capable of grasping what it actually entails. But i take your point. Those who can learn should learn. But I think this article helps with that. And while you’re castigating Greene, don’t forget to chastise Boebert and her “Fauci oucjie.”
And, yes, Ted rocks.
“Bang Bang” Boebert & Ron DeathSantis are both worthy additions to castigate for spreading COVID misinformation.
(But I don’t think either has alluded to HIPAA. Although it’s hard to keep up w/ their incredibly ignorant utterances.)
Yeah, yoou’re right, the HIPAA references are purely a “You can’t make me” thing.
And of course I see that fro the Insurance Law standpoint. A business is a place to which three kinds of people come – invitees, licensees, and treapassers – and the business (owner) has different obligations to each category You might think “invitees” would include customers, but you would be wrong. Invitees are people the business owner asks to come to help – plumbers, electricians, like that. Employees. Police if necessary. Billboards, ads, and “Open” signs are not invitations, but they are licenses. As a licensee you are welcome to do business there, privided you comply witth the house rules. If you refuse to comply with the house rules, you are no longer a licensee, you are a treapasser. Trespassers are owed NOTHING by the business – possibly to eject tham withoug committing an assault, but some trespassers make even that impossible. At that point, the business may “invite” law enforcement to assist.
Happy (Belated) Birthday….I wish WaPO had just read and reported “He was way worse”, just read an article from Press Run and apparently they are trying to talk about what he didn’t do wrong in positive terms…..like he should be credited with “not starting a war”….
Ha! The onlyreason he didn’t stat a war is that the only nations he could have goaded into war are led by dictators with whome he is in love (and awe.) not a vry creditable reason.
Spot on, Joanne.
Cartoon: What’s new? The R’s don’t give a hoot about anything but themselves.
The Hill: Yes we should.
C&L: Bragging all about it, huh?… Stupid bas*ard. Glad his buddy turned him in. Now we’ll see how much he’ll brag about prison.
HuffPo: Agree, very scary.
Food for Thought: So true. Have to agree with Mitch, that it won’t end till he’s locked up.
Glad it’s cooler there for you today. Besides it being humid, it was at 90 here and suppose to be even hotter tomorrow.
Hope you have a good rest of your day/night.
Take care. Thanks Joanne
Cartoon: They just ignore it as if it never existed.
C&L: It’s nice to see justice catch up with these little guys but it would be so much nicer if it finally caught up with the bigger and biggest fish too.
HP: I’m sorry, but I think this warrants another
You may have another word for it but my limited English vocabulary constrains me to “treason”.
FFT: It’s clear we don’t know half of it and it’s also clear we may never get to know it all.
