Yesterday I scanned my vaccination card and saved the jpg in my health records file so I can easily find it if I need to. I also lookup up whether any visitation is being allowed, and yes, there is some – limited, but some. I will qualify after my 14 days since the second shot are up, so i’ll be working on an email to ask about paperwork, How handy that I have my vaccination card already scanned.

The New Yorker – Trump Obtained Podiatrist’s Note to Avoid Serving in Own Military Coup
Quote – An excerpt from the note reads, “Donald J. Trump is suffering from extremely painful bone spurs that would make any active-duty participation in a military coup out of the question. In the event of such a coup, I strongly recommend that he be limited to an administrative role.”

Mother Jones – How a Three-Word Phrase Sabotaged Black Voting Rights, and How They Can Be Reconstructed
Quote – Or other crime. Three small words that continue to shape America today. It is a great irony of our history that the 14th Amendment, which enshrined in the Constitution the promise of equal protection under the law, is today the principal source of Black disenfranchisement. But there’s no reason to accept this fate. At a time when the public is increasingly aware of modern attempts at suppression, the tools for resurrecting the fundamental right to vote are waiting to be put to use. Our future could depend on how seriously we decide to take the rest of the words in Section 2.

  1. If your scanner is capable of it, you might want to do a PDF scan of your vaccination card – especially if your scanner has OCR (Optical Character Recognition) capabilities.  After dealing with sharing documents long-distance after Mom died I encountered some institutions that wouldn’t accept photos – but would take PDFs.

Boy, Donnie is really getting good mileage out of those bone spurs.

Like I’ve said before: We’ll take good news wherever and whenever we can get it!

    Three-Word Phrase

Efforts at voter suppression has a long and sordid history.

    • If I need a pdf I can make one from the jpg, directly or using Word (which would allow me to add notes to it.) I do that routinely for claims against my HSA so I’ve gotten quite comfortable with the process. I’m very big on scanning things I have a health records folder for those, and a folder I call “credentials” for things like my DD-214 and our marriage certificate.

  2. I do not want to take anything away from the Video Thread, but do want to put a nice tune into today’s Open Thread:

‘Toon: If I can joke about giving Texas back, you can joke about giving Florida back; apologies to Pat.
New Yorker: The only bone spur he has is the one between his ears!
TH: So far, so good. If TOT gets personally indicted before the election…well, I realize, I don’t know, am not good at predicting the future.  I was going to say that that might destroy the chances of the fools who are trying to climb aboard the “witch hunt’s” withes broom, but it could also energize their fool supporters w/TOT seen as a  “victim” more (un)clearly.
MJ: My system can’t open the page, but I expect that it has to do with removing one’s right to vote because one has been convicted of, even, a minor “other crime.”
FFT: also too much for my aging system.

    • I had that Parody Project saved, was going to use it tomorrow because today was full, and am actually thankful I don’t have to – now I have room for something else.  Thank you!

I don’t know what to say about your system. The FFT is just a jpg, and Mother Jones is a pretty standard source – extremely trustworthy.

      • I know that, and I do not know the exact nature of the problem.  There was a time when I could not even get the website of my local Audubon group, and after a bit that no longer happened. It’s “Safari” that is the search engine.  I had once had Duck duck go, at TC’s suggestion, got rid of it at my wife’s urging, she being the techie one here.  Now I can’t get it back.  Some sites “tell” me that my system is “no longer supported.” So it goes.

        • So the “system” is no longer supported.  I know they are named after big cats but I have no idea which is the newest or how old any particular one is.  Could you upgrade through Macintosh with the hardware you have, as so many people did with Windows 10 (including a lot of people whi didn’t actually want to LOL)?

If they are not telling you that your browser is not supported, the problem is probably not with Safari.  If they do use the wors “browser,” that’s different.

  3. Just here to say Hello..💚

  4. NY: Too bad it wasn’t used to keep him from ever running for the W.H.
The Hill: Good to hear. Hopefully they’ll be lucky to get cells close to tRump.
MJ: Sick of the way they continue trying to come up with their evil schemes to suppress voting rights.
Having computer issues, mainly Wifi not working long enough to respond to posts. While staying on site to continue reading/responding, I keep losing Network.
Hope you had a nice Saturday.
    Thanks Joanne

    • Thanks, Colleen, I did.  Would it help you to type your comments into a notepad or wordpad file instead of directly into the blog?  Then you could copy and paste them at a time when the internet is working and they wouldn’t get lost.  I’ve been using that trick both at work and home since about 2003 and it has saved me a whole lot of grief over the years.

  5. Very wise to scan all your important documents so you have a copy even when the original is lost (in a bush fire, for instance.  18 I scan all my documents as PDFs because the file size is smaller and that also makes a difference when sending them as an email.

TNY: That would perfectly explain why the Former Guy incited his base to attack the Capitol, said he’d meet them there and then never showed up, Andy. He couldn’t possibly walk that far, could he.

TH: At best, having more money than their opponents could result in those 10 keeping their seats when up for re-election. It doesn’t imply that they will be joined by many more of their “calibre” in Congress.

MJ: It seems so easy. Just add “whereof they shall have been duly convicted, under laws equally applicable to all of the inhabitants of said state” to the 14th Amendment and Bob’s your uncle. But we know that the GQP doesn’t like uncle Bob much.

FFT: No, that’s called plain racism.

  6. thank you, excellent post….
