Well, I have a new battery. He was right on time, and it only took about a quarter hour.  Without going into too much detail. I need to be home the next two days, so I’ll make a vax appointment for Saturday, Sunday, or Mondey. And I will let y’all know how it goes.

Common Dreams – ‘Biggest Tax Story of the Year, If Not the Decade’: Analysis Shows Just How Little Richest .001% Pay in Taxes
I was running out of video space for today, so instead of including Thom Hartmann, I am including here this article he cited.
Quote: ProPublica makes clear that, far from being the beneficiaries of a sprawling, illegal tax dodging scheme, “it turns out billionaires don’t have to evade taxes exotically and illicitly—they can avoid them routinely and legally,” a point that spotlights the systemic inequities of the U.S. tax system. [emphasis mine]
There is a legal distinction between tax avoidance and tax evasion. But to my mind, there’s not much of a moral distinction. Click through for the full article, and if you are really interested, through again from there to the full report.

Politico – Yesterday was a very busy day, so frankly, I have only skimmed this myself. But so much I have been featuring, here and in videos, skirts around this topic, I thought it would be well to bring it to the fore.
Quote: During a Senate budget hearing, Garland said he was aware of the controversy triggered by the Justice Department’s actions defending Trump in a civil suit and seeking to maintain secrecy around memos sent to former Attorney General William Barr as he responded to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Wonkette – Ohio Kooks Think COVID-19 Vaccine Will Give You Freaky Magnetic Powers Like That’s A Bad Thing .  As a person who often drops small metal parts, like beads and findings, I would love for this to be true. Sadly, no.
Quote (in Wonkette’s unique style): Ooh, boy, so the usual gang of idiots are promoting a conspiracy theory that the COVID-19 vaccine contains microchips or other metals that the government uses to track Americans. It’s like a 25-year-old plot from the “X-Files,” and Agent Scully was clued into the government’s diabolical scheme after the metal detector at the FBI picked up the chip in her neck. Yes, because the shadowy government conspiracy never imagined that a person might someday walk through a goddamn metal detector.

  1. Good to see that you got everything in order. Best to you with your vax appt(s). Have a good day, and Thank  for posting.  I’m almost heading out the door here.
Cartoon: What a crying shame that this even happened.
Wonkette: Hard to believe that folks believe this.
    Food for thought: Sad.

TJI: “New vaccine Law – Texas businesses that require customers to be vaccinated against Covid -19 will be denied state contracts and could lost their license or operating permits under legislation. Gov. Greg Abbot signed into law on June 7th, 2021. ~ Elvia Lemon ~
    2. “One of the men arrested as part of the January 6th attack now says he recognizes that he “brought into a pack of lies.” The more defendeants say they were victims of a scam, the
    3. “On voting rights, Joe Manchin doesn’t just have a political problem. If he thinks there are 10 Republican moderates in the Senate, the conservative Democrat also has an arithmetic problem.” ~ Anon ~

    • My bad: – TJI: #2….
“One of the men arrested as part of the January 6th attack now says he recognizes that he “bought into a pack of lies.” The more defendants say they were victims of a scam, the more obvious the need for an investigation into those who did the scamming.” ~ Rachel Maddow ~

    • TJI #1 – Oh God, I”m so sorry! Of course that means masks for sane people for the foreseeable future.
TJI #2 – I’ve read that Rachel’s been oon fire. I need to take time to watch.
TJI #3 – Even if there were ten Republican moderates in the Senate, if he thinks thay would vote with Democrats at this point in history, he also has a delusional problem.

    • TJI#1: Texas needs legislation that says a person in a wheelchair, can not be governor.
TJI#2: Rachel, is of course, right.
TJI#3: I was going to say the same thing that Joanne said!

    • TJI #3 – That one self-absorbed IDIOT can wield this much power impacting an entire nation is JUST NOT RIGHT!

    • TJI #1: Texas now made it law that they want to have their citizens go sick and/or die. Has anyone seen the bottom of the bottom yet?

TJI #2: Republicans can’t have it both ways. They can’t still maintain that the election is stolen and at the same time have people getting off charges because they now say the stealing was a scam.

TJI #3: Manchin is a Trump clone, he’s just as narcissistic and he loves the attention he gets with his posturing just as much. He doesn’t care for any one else, but Manchin.

  2. Glad that you got the battery, I’m sure the car is, too.
‘Toon: We have visited the Salem Witch Museum.  They put on quite a good, educational show.  Years after the killings of the supposed witches, the 2 girls who started the whole thing admitted that they were just having fun.
CD: “The cornerstone myth of the American tax system: that everyone pays their fair share and the richest Americans pay the most.”  When is the last time anyone actually believed that?  The tax system was put together by people whose agenda was to protect the wealth of the wealthy, as far as I’m concerned.
Politico: It does seem troubling, on the surface, for the WH and the DOJ to be at odds over some things, but I’d much rather have this than TOT/Barr.
Wonkette:  Very funny!  “Doctor” Bozo “knows” of magnets sticking to people?  No, she’s supposedly seen it on the internet.  Hey, I saw a photo of unicorns running through a forest in Arizona, yesterday.  We have had some issues with Osteopathic physicians,in the past, like the one who told my wife that she had Lupus, upon seeing her only once, maybe 15 years ago.  No Lupus, no further visits to that clown.
    ‘Toon #2: So sad.

  3. Good to hear you’re up and running – or at least your car is!

  4. Cartoon: Not nice at all.
CD: Awful to see the way the rich keep getting richer. Something has to be done to change the rules that they currently have for them. Not having to pay any just doesn’t make sense.
Politico: Hate to think that their still hiding information. I honestly thought that would of ended once tRump and his buddy bArr was out.
Wonkette: I was watching CNN late this afternoon when I got back from my doctor appointment. They were showing this woman who swore that the vaccine made magnets and pennies stick to her. Plus another one saying that because she got the vaccine her husband who didn’t get it, died. Where these fools come from??
Food for Thought: Awful…all of the games they play in Congress.
Happy to read that you got the new battery installed yesterday. It’s nice when people are on time.
Hope you’re able to get an appointment to get your Covid-19 vaccine this weekend. Good luck.
    Take care. Thanks Joanne

  5. I’m glad to hear you’re good to go now to get your first vaccination, Joanne. I know you prefer to live your life as a hermit – I’m not unfamiliar with that inclination myself – but perhaps this will take you out to socialize a bit more. Though that may contradict your involvement in PP where you are filling TomCat’s large shoes very admirably indeed.

Cartoon: Innocent lives lost out of spite and greed.

CD: The filthy rich pay next to nothing in taxes and the money they “donate” to maximize their political power and keep it that way probably also tax-deductible. And still, it isn’t enough. They want more profit and no taxes and they pay the GQP to fix that for them.

Politico: The fact that Garland and the White House are at odds on this makes headlines here too. Let’s hope it doesn’t take very much longer before we find out that Garland had a hidden agenda detrimental to the former guy or Garland isn’t the courageous go-getter full of integrity we all thought he’d be.

Wonkette: The anti-vaxxers first tried to convince people that Bill Gates was trying to chip people through the COVID vaccination. Some people showed the absurdity of a chip passing through the extremely thin vaccination needle.

But that was countered with (PhotoShopped) images of literally incredibly small chips:

But that square peg through a round hole apparently didn’t convince too many anti-vaxxers so now vaccines are supposed to make you magnetic. What purpose this magnetic field is supposed to have, remains unclear. Traceability? How about stop reading these idiotic Facebook messages, put your phone off for a while and disable your friendly Facebook tracer and those of the hundreds of other apps on your phone from tracking you, my dear?

    FFT: Spot on!

    • It’s never anyone who is important enough in any way for the government, Bill Gates, or anyone else to give a rat’s patoot where they are , either.  They probably wishe they were, though.
