PERSONAL UPDATE:
Although I don’t feel all that bad, I’ve been sick (TMI: “Watery Republicating”) all day. Probably the delicious (at least going down) pulled-pork sliders from a respected BBQ place I enjoyed yesterday.
I finally was able to handle some soup and crackers this afternoon – but I am NOT up to posting anything “Fun” today … and probably not this weekend.
After nine generous (TMI) “Republications” I figured my GI tract had cleared as much of the toxins as possible – so I took some Pepto-Bismol, and felt much better. Not great – but better.

JM: As much as I’d like every prosecutor in the country to build a case against the former guy, I don’t think it is in America’s interest to have DeSantis interfere with any extradition requests by prosecutors from other states. The former guy will use it to get back in the public’s attention and may well start civil unrest in Florida. But that mustn’t deter prosecution from going after him either. A rock and a hard place come to mind.
MT #1: That is a warning every Democrat should heed. The 2022 elections should indeed be a referendum on the new (read Fascist) Republican party. It should be a referendum on Totalitarianism or Democracy and the Dems better make sure they win it.
MT #2: They got off track too often and it went on far too long but the discussion had one good point. Why the hell is Romney still in the GQP? And why is Cheney, for that matter?
MJ: Surprise, surprise? Not really. Turns out I had exactly the same reaction as Nameless. So it’s now out in the open what they wanted to keep hidden. What now? Will it change anything? Nah. Perhaps it’ll make a difference to the judges when those voter-suppression bills come before them.
RAP: Agree fully, but the petition is not for me to sign.
NTN: It was rather disappointing that Pelosi ended her well constructed and polite-to-the-bitter-end appraisal of the insane denial of what happened on January 6 with the hope of finding the truth in the most bi-partisan manner. There is no bi-partisan in this Congress, there will never be bi-partisan with this “new” GQP again.
RR: Yup, too true. I try to discern the difference between new and old party by using GQP instead of GOP.

With the non-leader bipartisan negotiation for the Jan. 6th truth commission coming up with 10 people who are not elected persons and who are experts in the relevant fields with 5 nominated by each party and scope to include what led to it, it sounds promising with only McCarthy voicing complaint as of yesterday because it doesn’t include extraneous and unrelated protests. Let us see if sufficient pressure from the public rises to get it done (hope it can be by simple majority votes). Cheney has said McCarthy should be testifying for the commission.

“Normal tourist day” my ass! How far is Rep. Andrew Clyde’s head up his ass, anyway? And he comes from Georgia – another embarrassment for me as a native Atlantan (which I can claim by virtue of my father, who was born in Marietta and can trace his roots in the state to back before the American Revolution). Between him and Reps. Greene and Loudermilk, Georgia’s crew in Congress seem hellbent on proving that this state is f***ed up. Thank goodness – and more importantly, millions of determined voters – we flipped BOTH of our Senate seats to blue!
