Glenn Kirschner on “Theater of the Absurd” – an then on attorney-client privilege
Chris Hayes and guest on Rudy – a couple of days old – but priceless.
“Cool, Considerate Men” from “1776.” No CC, but here are the lyrics This was cut from the movie because Nixon made Jack Warner cut it. But it was still available on the sound recording of the Broadway production. Now you can see it.
Beau on changes in border policy – More detail (and I think more optimism) from Beau than from The Damage Report yesterday
Beau – Yes, the SEALS could use an image makeover (deeper than that actually) Looks like they are getting one.

JM 1&2: Again, Kirschner is very educational, in a way that Beau is too, by just giving the facts supported by good examples. And I can understand that an expert would find Giuliani’s behaviour very amusing. Personally, I find Rudy Giuliani’s lying, projection and finger-pointing as funny as those of his boss and co-conspirator: a small chuckle followed by outrage that we’re taken for fools but even worse, that they have a whole media channel to fool those that let themselves be fooled.
MSNBC: Michael Daly on Rudy Guliani = pure Schadenfreude with a touch of glee.
TSF: I’m not at all familiar with this. Is this the GOP anthem: ever to the right, never to the left? It would suit Republicans perfectly, except that “Cool, considerate men” isn’t quite the picture that comes to mind these days.
Beau: Truth; anything can be achieved if the will is there and nobody sabotages it. I liked his link to climate change. That’s another “thing” that can be resolved if the will is there to do so.
“1776” is the musical about the writing and eventual signing of the Declaration of Independence. Yes, these were those leaning Tory. And there was some effort to use some language the way it was used then without doing to much violence to modern understanding, and one meaning at the time of the word “considerate” was “Considering the consequences” – which we all know could well have included being hanged. So “Cool considerate” eans something like “Cold;ly considering what’s the worst that could happen.” The other two songs which were included to – I’m not sure how to say it exactly, but to demonstrate the drawbacks, that the Founders weren’t perfect, and one to point out that even with a good motive, war is still war, were “Mama, Look Sharp” and Molasses to Rum to Slaves,” which I find the most chilling of the three. Neither of them got cut. Even without this one, it’s a fine movie, IMO, and probably as historically accurate as a musical is ever likely to be. John Dickinson, whose character sings this, did in fact refuse to sign the Declaration.
Thanks, JD!
GK – Giuliani debunks his own lies every time he opens his mouth!
GK: All informative, and good to know.
Chris Hayes: Great videos, was good listening to both, w/ Michael Daly as his guest.
Beau: It’s improving, Thank God.
Beau: Good information.
Beau re: the SEALS: They’ve got this. When I was stationed @Roosevelt Roads, P.R., years ago, the SEAL company there was very active, and performed Ops all hours of the days and nights, involving their home base, and to Vieques, 18 or so miles by sea. I had the utmost respect (still do) for the guys and now…gals, who worked the ongoing classified special ops. Women were not allowed to serve in combat roles, back when I was in the Navy, including special operation forces such as the SEALs and SWCC, (Special Warfare Combatant Command), until January 2016. It was most unfortunate for some of us, who as WAVES, would have signed up in a heartbeat.
Oh, I forgot.
SEALs take their name from the environments in which they are trained to operate: Sea, Air and Land.
