  1. Cartoon: R’s – Ugh!
BFTP: My all time favorite great band, saw them a while back here. Pink Floyd is another of my favorites.

Tom, I sure do appreciate all that you do and say, and have done through the years. One of my favorite memories, was when I worked for the school(s), and would peek in every now and then during the day(s) to see if PP was up yet, so I could read it. Also….Nameless, your post about TC was written so well, & so articulate. I got choked up reading it. Thank you, Tom, and praying that you have a great and relaxing day. Hugs, and take good, good care!

*This just in: “Trump in Nevada: “I love the poorly educated.” So does the republican party. Shows up in the quality of their candidates that manage to get elected to public office.” ~ Louis H. ~ 2.”Re: State mandatory mask mandate: According to Worldometer, Texas is only #5 or 6. PA is actually #4 on the list, with NY being #1. ~ Laura W. ~ 3. “Yes, the whole Trump family is getting desperate, and you can see it with those pictures of Trump last week. It looks like he lost 25 pounds, but it was not his diet that did it, it was the stress from the legal woes coming his way.” ~ Vicki M. ~ 4. “Trump DOES seem to have power over the Repiglican Party, the way a lot of the rethuglikkkans bow down to him.” ~anon ~ 5. “Dear Sen Ron Johnson: Maybe you missed the impeachment trial. Remember the video evidence we presented of the mob that violently broke into your Senate chamber? Some had weapons and zip-tie cuffs. That’s why you weren’t there to greet them. Senators were hiding. Remember?” ~ Ted Lieu ~

    • oops, my bad. My TJI looks like run off sentences.
      Sorry about that.
      Pat

    • TJI#1: It works for them.  Put up idiots to run, so that the other idiots can identify with, and vote for, them.
TJI#3: I did not know of photos of them from last week, and if I had, I would not have looked at them, for fear of developing PTSD.  Did he look worn, thin? I hope that whatever it is, it hurts.
TJI#5: Talking to Johnson is a waste of time and effort.  the only reason his pants have not caught fire, yet, is because he is from another world.  Oh, maybe HE is one of the real Lizard people.

    • TJI #3 – Someone said that seeing him without the orange makeup makes it understandable that he uses it.
TJI #4 – Yes. he does. I see it as a race to get him at least under indictment before his own social network can be up and running.
TJI #5 – If Johnson really believes, the stuff he is saying, he is a danger to himself and others. It’s like saying that breathing coronavirus can’t hurt you but breathing truly clean air will kill you.

  2. Rest, relax, and hopefully, regain some strength.
‘Toon: These fools are way beyond what the Tea Party ever thought it would be.  Brother Koch has said that he thinks they “…went too far.”  They have, literally gone insane!
BFP: I love them, too, and PF.

  3. I can certainly understand that you are tired. Actually, it sounds like you are coping well.Of course that isn’t always possible. By all means rest.

The Census Bureau does not redistrict. It does reapportion. That is, it tells each state whether it keeps the same number of Congressional districts, or gains one or more, or loses one or more. Then it is u[ to the state to redistrict as necessary. Redistricting might be necessary even if the number of districts doesn’t change, because the population distribution within the state may have changed. the Census Bureau can and does help with statistics on that, but it does not and cannot actually redistrict.
Here’s a link to an interactive map which now shows changes in each state’s districts through 2010. Soon 2020 data will be added.

Hanky Alert  Jeopardy! and Alex Trebek’s family have donated a portion of the late game show host’s wardrobe to The Doe Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides paid work, housing, vocational training, continuing education, and comprehensive social services to underserved Americans with histories of addiction, homelessness, and incarceration.
“During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering,” Jeopardy! Executive Producer Mike Richards said. “Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”  (Why am I not surprised that the Trebek family chose a charity whose values align with what TomCat has spent so much of his life on?)

Cartoon – What makes the Republicans such a curse is not just that they are so far right, but that they are also so authoritarian. We are so accustomed to thinking of Nazis as the ultimate far right (and I think justifiably) that we forget that there are far right people and regimes which are not strictly authoritarian (and they are also awful – but different.) But it is the synergy that makes Republicans such a curse. And those people have always existed, although the name is quite new in history.

Blast – Beautiful song. Packed with feelings of futility, with love as the one constant to hang on to. Appropriate now (and much of the time generally.

  4. Searching my memory, I was curious when I first came across TC’s PoliticsPlus blog site.  I resorted to Google, and it looks like it was in the autumn of 2009 – but I can’t find an exact date.

Not ever having been a Care 2 member, I don’t know how I happened on to it.  What caught my eye at first was getting a kick out of TC’s … hmmm … novel approach to spelling.  But what made me hang around was his being so damn honest about it.  (Correct me if I’m wrong, TC – but I think you’d be the first to admit you would never make it as a proofreader.)

It’s rare to find such honesty in folks and it was quite refreshing.  So I decided to stay – and boy, am I glad I did!

It’s now been nigh onto 12 years, and I’m still enjoying having such a dear friend.  And I suspect all of us count TC, first and foremost, as a dear friend.

Since we’re two different people I’m sure that we’ve probably had disagreements on a few matters.  But in all honesty, I can’t remember one.

For better or worse, it’s our lot in life to have good days and bad days.  And some of us may seem to have more of one than the other.  But my prayer for all of us is that when we add them all up, we will be able to agree with what Hunter S. Thompson famously said:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘WOW!  What a Ride!’

So I’m ever so thankful, no matter how it happened, to have stumbled on to this blog and all that it’s taught me.  And TC, I look forward to enjoying more of your wit and wisdom in the days to come.

  5. Cartoon: Awful how the R’s never can suggest a positive solution.
BFTP: The Moody Blues are one of my favorites too. Loved listening to their albums.
Certainly hope you were able to get some rest today, Tom. You’ve been thru a lot with having to take new medications which may help with your pain, but can cause you so many other bad side effects. I hope you and your home care doctor can help adjust it.
Praying that you get to feeling better. Take care Tom.

  6. Have your caretakers control your pain and rest, TomCat. I hope you’re still thinking this when I say that:

You know I’m not making fun of you, my friend, so forgive me for this little clip. But forget about routines, drop us a line whenever you can, feel like it and enjoy doing it, sometimes just to let us know how you are; we’ll find it. Get as comfy as you possibly can.

4:24 Not very inspiring, is it?

    Cartoon: Still very relevant.

BFTP: I must be getting sentimental in my old age but this MB song touches something deep inside whenever I hear it.

  7. TC, hope you are getting some very good rest.  You know, like a cat! Thanks for all you have shared with everyone over the years and all the work for great causes and candidates. All of you, lots of wonderful comments and observations. Blessings from the cat goddesses and stay safe!

  8. Thanks and extreme Republicosis Hump Day Hugs to all. 19
