It’s a very tired day here in the cat box. For the last week I had a pants load of long appointments setting up my hospice services, and all that chair time exacerbated my back pain. My hospice nurse adjusted my methadone dose to my new level of pain. That was too high for my normal level of activity, causing all the side effects. I told her that’s what I thought, and she agreed to put me back to 10 mg methadone every eight hours. I’m feeling better. Here is my new schedule. This is what I said I would explain today. Monday is a Wendy day, usually in the evening. Thursday a shower aide comes around 9 AM. Then Store to Door delivers groceries between 11:30 AM and Noon. That will be a rough day. Saturday morning is a Wendy day. My hospice nurse will come every two weeks on Monday. Then I will have occasional visits from Jo, the chaplain. I like her. She is an authentic Christian and loves the definitions for Republicitis and Republicosis. So except for the initial confusion everything is doing pretty well. Nevertheless, it will take a few days for me to catch up on sleep. May you be well and truly blessed this Sunday!

From Daily Kos:
…”It will be a Democratic Party Armageddon in 2022 if we sit here on our butts and say, ‘Oh, we’re sorry, we’re not as determined to get our agenda passed as Republicans were,'” Sen. Jeff Merkley, the Oregon Democrat spearheading filibuster reform efforts, told the Post. He’s right. With the Supreme Court seemingly ready to gut the remains of the Voting Rights Act and 43 states considering some 253 voter restriction bills, it could be Armageddon for Democrats. If the elections reforms passed by the House don’t become law, Democratic voters will be blocked from the polls. If President Biden’s critical agenda to address the pandemic, economic inequality, climate change, immigration—everything!—is stymied, Democratic voters won’t want to go to the polls in 2022.
Biden sure as hell recognizes that. That’s why the former longtime member of the Senate is open to filibuster reform. “One thing that is nonnegotiable is him delivering for the American people,” Emmy Ruiz, the White House political director, told the Post. “The number one priority here is to get this agenda, this bold agenda, passed through Congress.” Another White House official said the “‘strategy is adjusting every single day,’ reiterating Biden’s position that the filibuster is not sacrosanct while the agenda is.”…
Jeff could not be more correct. Oregon leads the way! RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From YouTube (CNN Channel): Trump State Department official charged for attacking police in Capitol riot
Could the Republican Reich be more guilty of treason than this? RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From YouTube (a blast from the past): Crimson and Clover – Tommy James & The Shondells
Ah… the memories! RESIST the Republican Reich!!
Don’t Let Republicans Steal YOUR Future!!

Cartoon: Yep! Of course!
DK: Can we clone Jeff Merkley here? We need to get the filibuster reform passed! Now.
CNN: So glad to see/read about these folks being arrested for the participation of the riots on Jan. 6th. Lady Justice is taking care of this too.
BFTP: Such a good song. thx! for this one.
Boy, you’re busier than a Bumble Bee in a dandelion patch! Glad that you are, as it sounds that your team is excellent at helping you, and for your needs. I’m glad to read that. Hope that you have a good rest of your day. Take good, good care, and Thanks so much, Tom for all you do and say.
This just in: “The jobs report is good news and needs to be crowed about far and wide.” ~ Wendy Glass ~
2. “If McConnell and Johnson are leaning,(towards retirement), can we just give them a push to help it along?Like clearing a leaning dead tree from your yard before it causes major destruction and harm?” ~ Mary S. ~
3. “Some people don’t understand the process of making law and policy in a democratic society. You rarely get everything you want, and certainly not on the first try. Getting good policy done is hard work!” ~ Don M. ~
4. “Nobody is perfect but the difference between Biden and the other guy is night and day. The United States is lucky today but we can’t always count on luck. Good politicians follow the well-worn maxim of not sacrificing the good for the perfect.” ~ Jose M. ~
5. “After inaugurated, President Joe Biden’s instantaneous speed addressing crushing our pandemic, and his fervor urging bipartisan commitment for vaccine and stimulus relief for us, is second only to how immediately New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern handled their pandemic. Furthermore so far, I don’t know of anyone in President Biden’s immediate inner circle and or administration that are or have tested positive for covid-19. Who you hang with, is what you are and catch.” ~ LouMar G. ~
I #1 – It is, but it is so tied to the pandemic that we can wait to crow. 2022 would be a good time.
TJI #3 – Now THIS one needs to be bruited far and wide, now and all the time!
TJI #4 – So does this one.
TJI #5 – I would say this one too – but too many people wouldn’t get it even if it were blasted non-stop. “Socialist propoganda!”
Don’t know about you guys, but beginning 1/20/2021 I started sleeping MUCH better!
It’s so nice to have a responsible adult in the White House!
That certainly is a schedule. All I can say is keep rested. And maybe keep adjusting to your level of activity. Is that every weel? Or will Store to Door be different depending on what and when you order? And I guess other things could change week to week also.
Cartoon – John L. is not the only John Lewis associated with March 7 (as you no doubt know better than I do. And this one is different.
‘Bloody Sunday’ to be commemorated for first time without John Lewis
DKos – Of course Jeff Merkley is absolutely right. Every American who is not guanopsychotic should be terrified right now. Sure, relieved, but also terrified at what could happen. I fear too many now take democracy for granted again – and some never stopped doing so. I might add, though, Chuck Schumer did a great thing with some confirmations. He (and Democrats) quietly sat through the all-nighter on the CoViD relief bill until Republicans started leaving to sleep. Then as soon as he had a 2/3 majority he passed some resolutions to shorten debate on several confirmations, including Merrick Garland. As dumb as some Republicans are, it might even work twice, though I’m not very confident of that.
Blast – One that I do remember. It actually says it is an earworm, and it certainly is.
Voting tRump’s orange arse out of the Oval Office was far from the end – it was only the beginning. We need to lean on Biden, as well as Democratic and Republican Congresspeople alike, to push for all kinds of reform. We need a mass movement in this country for not just voting reform, but for a lot of others; voting is most important because, unless we can get out the Progressive vote and make it count, we have scant hope of effecting any meaningful change.
What you said, Freya.
Very, VERY true!
But it’s a good beginning!
I honestly shudder to think what would happen to us and our nation if Donnie were still in the Oval Office.
Cartoon: We must carry on all that John Lewis taught and fought for.
DK: Agree with Sen. Jeff Merkley 100%.
CNN: Appreciate all that the FBI and others have done in finding and arresting all of these evil criminals.
BFTP: Remember the song. Good one.
Happy that you were able to get the medication dosage taken care of. You know your body the best and can tell immediately when something isn’t working like it should be.
You’re going to have a busy weekly schedule, but I’m glad to hear it. I’d rather you have too many care takers than not enough.
I’m glad you like your chaplain too.
Hope you do get your rest, that you’re eating and drinking your fluids too.
Take care, TC
Thanks for the schedule, TomCat. Good to see there are moments of rest in there too. Make sure you get that scheduled rest and every other bit of it you need.
3:42 You need a bit more rest.
Cartoon: True on both accounts.
DK: Of course Merkley is spot on. Even DINO Manchin should realize that he’ll lose his seat and he’ll no longer be able to blackmail the Dems into doing things his way if they don’t put an end to the filibuster. But I’m sure Manchin is going to squeeze everything out of his position as 50th vote.
CNN: Like the true Trumpists they are, they feel above the law, blame others for what they did and complain about their treatment in jail. And get rewarded for it by the judges which send them to jails better suited to them. At the end of this, only a handful of ‘little men’ will be (mildly) convicted and the real culprits will walk away and continue to destroy what is left of your democracy.
BFTP: Lots of memories of my brother flooded in. This was the first (secondhand) single he bought and wore the needle down with. He turned into a modern music buff and remained so the rest of his life.
The right could easily take over the majority in 2022, or even the White House in 2024. Democrats need to be vigilant against the Republican ideology and Republican attempts to subdue the vote. The best thing to stave off Republican wins, is for Biden to be successful. So far, so good.
A medical suggestion:
If your current methadone dosage is not providing the relief you’d like, you might ask about increasing your dose just one dosage at a time. It’s easier to see if you can tolerate it rather than jumping the dose up across the board.
So instead of taking it 10-10-10, I’d consider trying 10-10-15. Increasing your bedtime dose should help with sleep, and most people experience fewer side effects during sleep.
Then if you tolerate that, and still feel you need more relief try 15-10-15; and then 15-15-15 if all goes well.
I’m not reinventing the wheel here. It’s a pretty common medical protocol to increasing dosage – especially w/ meds that have quite a few side effects.
Thanks and hugs to all!
