  1. NT: Hanging guitars, so very sad,… life’s tragic events, yet so horribly cruel.
RR: Love how he explains subjects…good teacher.
    Dr. Who: Fantastic!
KO: Love this guy. Spot on, and I agree. Stop appeasing facism!

    Thank you, Joanne for post.

  2. NTN: On the video screen, I just saw texts like ‘Rep. Lynch eviscerates Postmaster General’ and Katie Porter grills Postmaster DeJoy’ and a long list of Representatives in the House follow in a similar fashion. What more does it take to sack this vile man and then sue him for the damage he caused the country by trying to destroy a public service when it is most needed?

NTN2: What a lovely, unique and inspiring piece of news.

RR: I fail to understand why Democrats aren’t working on taking out the filibuster right now. It only takes 51 votes and a few Dems to fall in line. Robert Reich is absolutely right, it is vital that the filibuster is taken off the menu right now. The longer it takes, the more voters will see/infer that Democrats aren’t united in resurrecting American democracy.

WHO: I’ve seen the episode back when it came out and was moved to tears though I didn’t understand why the Doctor hadn’t taken Vincent to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, which is fully dedicated to his art. Perhaps it was too difficult to reproduce in the studio for this scene.

Beau: This time Beau’s analyses in my opinion . have come undone by Biden’s actions in the past two days:
1: The US sent an “unambiguous message” with airstrikes that reportedly killed 22Iran-backed militiamen in Syria, says the White House of the first military action under President Joe Biden.
Syria has already condemned the US airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias in the east of the country by calling them a cowardly act, and urged President Joe Biden not to follow “the law of the jungle”. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the US strikes, calling them “illegal aggression” and a violation of human rights and international law.
    2. New Sanctions are placed on a former Saudi intelligence official, but not [Iran’s arch-enemy] Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as a [US intelligence] report concludes the Crown Prince likely ordered but at least approved the 2018 murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Mr Biden has now told US Spanish-language Univision in an interview that he told King Salman the US would “hold them accountable for human rights abuses”.
Neither acts seem to attempt making a deal, or a number of small deals, with Iran over time, but rather the opposite. I’m looking forward and see how Beau responds to this.

KO: It pains me to have to admit that Keith hits all his nails on the head. The Republicans and Trump have learned nothing from January 6th except how to get away with it and the GOP has reunited to stand behind Trump if he tries again. QAnon has pointed March 4 as the appropriate date for another insurrection. I hope security is at a higher level than before and special forces are standing by. But what to do about the gun-carrying Republicans in Washington?

    • On Beau – Both actions were taken, yes.  neither was a full-scale retaliation, so as far as that goes, he got that right.  (And I am seeing news stories saying Biden will do nothing right next to stories reporting sanctions, so we are not the only ones who don’t have all the facts.)    But I’ll be looking.

KO – The insurrectionists also have their eye on the State of the Union Address.  More on that tomorrow.  I hope we hear enough to have some confidence … but maybe not enough to warn the traitors.

On DeJoy – He can ONLY be fired by the Postal Service Board of Governors.  President Biden has just nominated three people to that Board (leaving one or two vacancies depending on how they are counted – one I think is filling a seat from an expired term).  Those nominees have yet to  be confirmed.  Without them, the current board will not fire him.  I expect Biden is being VERY careful with picking nominees because there won’t be a second chance.

  3. Thanks JD! 24  No 26.
