  1. A Lunar New Year Message From The Bidens

It’s such a welcome change to have a pair of mature, compassionate adults in the White House rather than … well, I better not finish that.

Nicolle: If Trump Inciting Riot Was In Dispute We Would’ve Heard About ‘His Remorse’ | MSNBC

You know, I hadn’t thought of that.  Good point.

Conservative Veteran and Former MP Calls Out GOP To Convict Trump For Incitement to Insurrection

That’s encouraging, but I’m curious – how does one register as a “Conservative”?  He didn’t say “Conservative Party” or anything like that – just as “Conservative”.

Rep. Raskin to Former President Trump Defense Lawyer: “You should have been here on January 6th.”

van der Veen sets it up, and Rep. Raskin knocks it out of the ballpark!

The good news is that this is the quality of lawyer Trump is now going to be stuck with.  Definitely NOT your A, B, C or even D lister.

But at least they deserve each other.

    Acquittal is Not the End

Not a video, but I like this Robert Reich Tweet even better:

    • I do not “get” Nicolle’s concept.  If there were dispute “…we would have heard about Trump’s remorse?” What does any theoretical dispute have to do with something that Trump is not capable of?
Thank you for the Reich Twitter piece.  That is the only way to deal with the bastards.

      • She said it a bit oddly, but what came through clearly was that if Trump** had not wanted the insurrection with all its violence and attempted violence, he could have and would have disavowed it.  And the reason it never occurred to so many of us on the left is that it also never occurred to us there was a fraction of a shadow if a chance that he didn’t want it.

    • That’s encouraging, but I’m curious – how does one register as a “Conservative”?  He didn’t say “Conservative Party” or anything like that – just as “Conservative”.

I’m seeing a lot of people calling themselves “Conservative” rather than “Republican” or “Trump** supporter,” and i suspect is because they don’t want to choose a side over that line, and so fall back on the philosophical term.

      • Well, I understand that.  But how did he – or anyone – REGISTER as a Conservative?

        • Oh, I get it.  Well, he didn’t do that in Colorado, and I gather he also didn’t do it in Missouri.  But that doesn’t mean he didn’t do it in some state – most likely as a third party.  But there are states in which the State party has a different  name from the national major party – I’m thinking of the DFL in Minnesota, for instance.  So it could be that.  there are too many to google what state he is actually in for sure.

  2. Lunar New Year: That’s how to lead!
MSNBC: Bannon won!  Trump continues to push the BS, will never change.  I only hope that no that this farce is over, SDNY will get its gears moving!
RA: Graham is bought and sold!
    VV: Yup!
    C Span: Ba da boom!
RR: Glad to hear that it takes only a simple majority. I’d been hoping that would be the case.   The rest is good too.
Beau: “If the country hasn’t changed in 50 years, something is wrong.”  Exactly right, but it scares Carlson’s audience, because conservatives run on anxiety, and fear of change.  Change inflames their anxiety, and that’s why they long for “the good old days,” when they felt securely in charge.

  3. By the time I got to this post, it was all water under the bridge except for Beau’s remark. As expected, Trump has been acquitted and he’s already starting to rile up his followers to do more of the same and try and get some donations together to start that civil war he’s been trying for. The seven “traitors” in the GOP will be punished severely, probably so severely they don’t want to run for Congress again.

I strongly hope that Biden and his new administration can keep the threat of a civil war at bay and get America out of the slump of no change for 50 years. The younger, enthusiastic but black Obama couldn’t do it; perhaps the older but white Biden can if he keeps his Dems in line and won’t fall into the GOP-trap of forced bipartisanship.

    • Obama had to expend a lot of time and energy to avoid even the suggestion of an “angry black man.”  Biden doesn’t need to worry about looking like an “angry white man.”  I think that will help.  I think I’m seeing some of that already.

  4. Thanks JD. 35  Exhaustion and 26.

  5. All excellent.
    Rep. Raskin…BOOM!
I enjoyed listening to Mr. Reich’s comments also.

    Thank you, Joanne for post.
