It’s another painful day here in the CatBox. I spent two hours on the throne fighting Republcitis. Tuesday if Flush Your Republicans Day. ARGH!! I hope I flushed my last for a bit.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:46 (average 5:43). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Cartoon:
Short Takes:
From The New Yorker: In an early-morning victory statement that took many in the N.F.L. by surprise, the Cincinnati Bengals have declared themselves the winners of next Februaryโs Super Bowl.
The declaration of victory seemed designed to stir controversy, in no small part because sixty minutes of the sixty-minute-long contest have yet to be played.
But the Bengals remained defiant, arguing that no touchdowns, extra points, field goals, or safeties scored after their announcement should count.
Dang Andy, if the officials that make this call are the same ones that we watched on Sunday, then the Bengals just might get the trophy. They deserve it at least as much as Trump** lover Brady! RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From Crooks and Liars: New video has emerged of the so-called “QAnon Shaman” just moments after they stormed the Capitol on January 6th, providing further proof that these insurrectionists were taking their cues directly from Trump.
Could it be more clear? RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): Arizona Republicans Still Waging Trump’s War On Democracy
What she is absolutely no different than what Trump** did. Both and all other Republicans who follow their lead belong in prison. RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From YouTube (a blast from the past): Simon & Garfunkel – Bridge over Troubled Water (from The Concert in Central Park)
Ah… the memories! RESIST the Republican Reich!!
Build the Future. It Belongs to YOU!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I am so sorry! I hope you’ll heed Lona’s advice.
Al Franken has a new article in Rolling Stone.
Cartoon – AMEN!
TNY – Hard to believe that such noble entities as cats would do something so ethically questionable. Now, had it been the Raiders ….
C&L – Interestingly, this is the same guy who (after demanding organic food in prison) seems not to be coming town to earth from Cloudcuckooland and cooperating.
Rachel – Oh, com on, Rachel. “What is she suggesting”? You know damn well she is suggesting the “public” do to wherever the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors meets what the “public” did to the Capitol. And she, like Trump** should be – whatever they can do at state level that corresponds to impeachment. A recall election? (Psycheval would be really good in the interim.)
Blast – Exactly what President Biden is being. (To carry the metaphor beyond all reasonable limits, bridges may get walked on ans driven over, but they are strong enough for that not to harm them.)
Yes, a big difference. Sad! Geez….how horrifying for Mr. Thomas.
Sickening treatment for the id w/horns.
Sickening, one system that murders you just because you’re black and another that pampers you just because you’re a White Supremacist.
Cartoon: Yup!
NYer: giggle…! omg….this is hilarious!
C&L: By his words, and what we knew…dt is the ring-leader in this riot. He praised the followers, and was happy about the outcome. Unreal.
MSNBC: Yep, still at it. ugh!
BFTP: Lovely song.
Hope that you start feeling better, and soon! Get your rest, and relax too! Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
This just in: “Most Senate Dems are saying that the trial won’t last more than a few days. They say that they don’t need witnessess, because every Senator was a witness to what happened. They say that they will show how Trump planned, and executed his plan, and then dare the R’s who were not in on the plan, to acquit. They will raise much anger, towards Trump.” ~ Lou R. ~
2. “Truth sounds like Hate to those who hate Truth.”
3. “Marjorie Taylor Greene – “All media outlets need to stop giving her a platform same as trump.” ~ Eric S. ~
4. “Too many people in the Senate are ‘sedition curious’.” ~ Governor John Fetterman (D-PA)
5. “Trump’s vanity requires it to be: ‘President Donald J. Trump legal team’. Trump’s defense strategy requires him to be merely ‘a private citizen’.” ~ Bill Kristol ~
6. “There is no justice without accountability.” ~ Jeff Merkley ~
TJI #1 – I have a couple of impeachment videos in today’s thread. To anyone who has been watching everything already, I apologize for the duplication. One has a hanky alert.
TJI #2 – What an elegant way to describe projection.
TJI #3 – Oh, let’s not forget Boebert. Grrrrrr.
TJI #4 – He’s right, and I hope he gets elected, but i would have said too many are in the Sedition Caucus.
TJI #6 – Reminds me of something Josephine Tey once wrote about criminals: “They can put two incompatible things side by side and croon over them like a lover, and you can’t make them see that they can’t have both.”
TJI #6 – And there you have it.
TJI#6: AMEN!
‘Toon: IMpeach has happened, what we need now, is conviction! (Ain’t gonna happen.)
New Yorker: Is Mitch McConnell running their show, too?
C&L: “If Trump doesn’t win in landslide, absolute proof of fraud!” How about absolute proof that these folks would no know “proof” if it walked up and kissed them. “Confirmation bias?” On steroids!
MSNBC: “Do what ya gotta do!” “Oh, but I didn’t tell them to lynch these folks, not me!”
BFP: Marvelous, as usual.
P.S.: I learned today what I believes the imbecility behind the March 4th Trump Inauguration Day, and why there have only been 19 presidents thus far: The original inauguration day was March 4th. And, I suppose, any president not inaugurated on that date, is considered by the jackasses to not have been an authentic president. So, does it then follow, from this possible logic, that Trump was never a president, himself? Whence has drunk from the poisoned Kool-Aide well sufficiently, anything is possible. The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.” ~ Stephen Hawking ~ “There are two ways to be fooled: One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” Soren Kierkegaard “Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities.” Voltaire “Those who believe in fairy tales are the ones most apt to be eaten by the wolf.” Mitch
Not only do we now have “Im-Peach-Mint” …
But because of Donnie “Two-Scoops” Trump, we got a SECOND serving!
That flavor would make me ๐คฎ
The picture would make me gag a little, but the sweetness of the revenge would make the product go down very smoothly. Yum.
TJI#1: I have read that the reason the Dems might not call witnesses is because they simply do not want to prolong the process. It is my sense that if they do not bring in Mr. Head Full of Horns, and others, to specify that they experienced being told, or ordered, to storm the Capitol, by Trump, there is no way to sway any of the GOPIGGIES to their POV. Not that it would be a slam dunk, anyway.
TJI#2: Whose wise words are these?
TJI#3: Sadly, the media love to fawn over crazies, it makes money for them.
TJI#4: What does “sedition curious” mean?
TJI#5: Are the Dems not going to present arguments to counter this interpretation?
TJI#6: Spot-on!
And, now, the Senate has voted to declare the Senate trull, and impeachment are legal:
Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana added his name to the list of Republican senators who have said the trial is constitutional, denying a challenge from Trump’s legal team. He joins Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania who had already voted to support the legality of the trial last month. Cassidy was the only GOP Senator who originally opposed the trial to vote in support of it Tuesday.
Cartoon: Hooray. they voted that the impeachment trail is constitutional. I just pray that they’ll convict the creep. They’re saying tRump is screaming that his lawyers did a crappy job today.
C&L: He’s saying that he did it all because of his precious leader, tRump’s orders. How much plainer can it get?
MSNBC: Despicable. Wish they’d do to her what you suggested TC.
BFTP: Excellent song.
Sorry to hear that you’re still suffering. Praying that you get better soon.
Have a nice afternoon/evening.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
I gather that you don’t want or can’t increase your oxycodone doses while you wait until you get new patches with the higher 100 mg dosage, TomCat. It seems to me that if everyone agrees you are in too much pain, you shouldn’t have to wait nearly a week to get something done about it.
3:24 Must be because I’m in the fire brigade.
Cartoon: The Senate has voted the impeachment trial not to be unconstitutional with 6 Republican votes, so it will go ahead, but 6 are not enough to convict Trump.
TNY: Brilliant, Andy. You had me in stitches.
C&L: This is just one of the videos that can be used to convict Trump. Even “Mr Trump’s other lawyer, Bruce Castor, acknowledged in his opening remarks that his client lost the election to President Joe Biden.” (ABC News) and by doing so admitting to Trump lying to his followers to get them them to attack the Capitol. I wonder how this so-called shaman feels when he hears he’s been “following orders” based on lies? If he ever hears it, that is, because no doubt this “little admission” by Castor will get much attention in the news and none at all on Faux News and other Alt-Right media.
MSNBC: Biden and his administration and many Democrats are incredibly busy with fighting the COVID pandemic and trying to get America back on its feet and meanwhile the Republican party is undermining that same country with everything it’s got, including trying to arrest public officers who have just done their job correctly and, when failing, sicking the public on the poor suckers, turning their lives and that of their family into a hell. This isn’t Trump, this is Republicans, this is a very large part of America. This isn’t over by a long haul.
BFTP: This song still gives me goosebumps when I hear it; beautiful on so many levels. It’s tempting to think of Biden as the one to offer/build that bridge, but you cant build a bridge into thin air. If Biden wants to build a bridge he needs another side to land on but that side has not existed for over a decade and shows no sign of becoming stable and trustworthy enough to land on for a long time to come.
Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all!
Bridge over troubled waters is the best S&G song….and very appropriate for these times.
