It’s a busy painful day here in the CatBox. Today is a grocery delivery day from Store to Door, and I just finished unpacking and storing everything. Tomorrow is a WWWendy day, but she is not coming until early evening, so I should be in the in the saddle. Thinking of the former resident**, I hope a ravenous golf got his balls.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:08 (average 4:16). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Cartoon:
Joe, even though Trump** is a draft evader, do NOT pardon him!
Short Takes:
From Crooks and Liars: Having made it past November, and even past the Jan. 5 runoff in Georgia, it may seem like the airwaves and signboards near you would finally be free of political ads. However … that’s not quite true. While the idea that ads are already showing up for the 2022 election cycle might even be enough to generate howls, there’s a reason that these ads should be welcomed. Because these ads are all about holding Republicans accountable for what they’ve done over the last four years.
That starts with ads that are going on the air in Wisconsin to detail the explicit connection between Sen. Ron Johnson and the violent attempt to overthrow the government. Voters to the south might not be catching those ads, but they could still run across a Josh Hawley billboard from MeidasTouch. It’s all just part of the move to clear the halls of Congress … of the people who promoted a violent attack on the halls of Congress.
I love it, but I bet I know who loves it more! RESIST the Republican Reich!!
From NY Times: In 17 executive orders, memorandums and proclamations signed hours after his inauguration, President Biden moved swiftly on Wednesday to dismantle Trump administration policies his aides said have caused the “greatest damage” to the nation.
Despite an inaugural address that called for unity and compromise, Mr. Biden’s first actions as president are sharply aimed at sweeping aside former President Donald J. Trump’s pandemic response, reversing his environmental agenda, tearing down his anti-immigration policies, bolstering the teetering economic recovery and restoring federal efforts to promote diversity.
Here’s a look at what the measures aim to accomplish.

I think Joe is off to a great start, but we need to make our voices heard, if he becomes too prone to negotiate based on Republican promises. We know how that worked for Obama. RESIST the Republican Reich!!

I’ve waited far too many years to be able to say this again, at last! RESIST the Republican Reich!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Cartoon – I think Jimmy worded in such a way as to pardon those who evaded the draft because of their conscience. Seeing as Trump** doesn’t have one …
C&L – I don’t know whether this is an agreed-upon division of labor, but it appears that, while Meidas Touch is taking on Hawley, The Lincoln Project is going after Cruz.
NYT – I’m paywalled out of the Times, but Daily Kos had a bostload of articles on these – and on the new decor in the oval office – and on the new press secretary who said “I’d love to take your questions.”
MSNBC – This is why I’m fine with giving him a week or so. In the meantime, Schumer could use some help.
Blast – I still have a little more healing to do myself. But you saying it is helping.

Cartoon: Yep, I remember.
C&L: Good news! I like that. Cruz deserves a big sign too, just like Hawley.
NYT: So refreshing to see President Biden at work with the pressing EO’s. Glad to see him reinstating ties with WHO, and a reversal of trump policies, with re: to the needs of this Nation as a whole. A.men!
Good grief! Resist!
YT: I got choked up listening…Very appropriate!
Don’t like reading that you are in pain…Hope that you get a chance to rest, and a chance to nap. Hope that you get all your chores done, so you can take a breather. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

3. “It delights me to think that what feels historical and amazing to us today—a woman sworn in to the vice presidency—will seem normal, obvious, ‘of course’ to Kamala’s grand-nieces as they grow up. And they will be right,” Hillary Clinton tweeted just moments before Harris was sworn in as the first Black, Asian American and female Vice President.”

TJI #4 – There are still a few parodies involving him that are too good to miss – but at least we can enjoy those, and probably even more now that he’s gone.
TJI #5 – Isn’t she amazing! And only 22!
America will be so much better off without Josh Hawley & Ted Cruz (and many more – but it’s a start) in the Senate.
Being more familiar w/ Hawley than I liked to be, he (like Cruz & Cotton) is one lean and hungry fascist!
I wouldn’t exactly call Cruz “lean.” If it had an adjective, I would use the word “gulosity.” (Also, none of them “thinks too much” – they don’t know how. They are all, however, dangerous and that’s the real point.)
Sorry to hear you’re in so much pain, TomCat. I hope you find a way to get a little more comfortable.
3:33 Pretty.
Cartoon: Has anyone had a look at Trump’s pardon list and picked out those pardons which were the right thing to do like Carter’s pardons? There were a few in there, mingled in with more than a hundred of his crony friends who lobbied (read: paid) hard enough to be on the list.
C&L: Now that’s what I call Money Well Spent.
MSNBC: I fully agree with your comment, TomCat. Negotiating with the current batch of Republicans in Congress would be a waste of time Biden doesn’t have and would amount to digging his own grave. If the traitors are removed from Congress, the GOP will be weakened in the eyes of America and even their own base and not in much of a negotiating position, I hope.
Cartoon: I do remember hearing about that. I was home taking care of my precious 13 months old son.
C&L: Bravo to the ones who did this. Speaks the truth about Hawley. Hope they do the same to Cruz and the rest of the rotten R’s.
NYT: Wow… So nice seeing President Biden go full speed ahead. Appreciate that he’s went to dismantle tRump’s stupid policies that did so much damage to our Nation. Plus reinstated policies that pertained to Covid-19, the environment, immigration and others important policies, that tRump did away with.
MSNBC: You go Joe. I have been signing all sorts of petitions that stand with Biden. Plus ones that are for demoting Hawley, Cruz and other rotten R’s
YT: Great version of the song. So nice to feel like we have it back.
Sorry to hear that you in pain. Hope you get to feeling better.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
Thanks and TGIF Hugs to all.
