Dec 292020
It’s a tired day here in the CatBox. WWWendy is here doing chores, and I am de-stunk. It’s the first sub-freezing morning of the year. Tuesday is Flush Your Republicans Day. There are a couple in desperate need of flushing in Georgia!

Cartoon: It still is a shame. It’s a tragedy!
BFTP: A classic, this is a good one.
Hi, Wendy! We’re supposed to get the little sprinkles of snow tomorrow or Th. We’ll see. Hope that you and Wendy have a good day, and that you get your rest. Take good, good care, and Thanks, Tom.

TJI #5 – I saw a cartoon of Trump* emptying out a Salvation Army kettle while saying to the bell ringer, “I’m really needy.” Yeah, in his way, he is – but I don’t think that wordmeans what he thinks it means.
TJI #6 – I hope I can laugh.
We don’t “do” shame, we barely accept responsibility, we fool ourselves with myths, like “Manifest Destiny,” blame the victims, and call ourselves “Exceptional.”
TJI #4: Kaylie McEnema has lied since Day One.
In Trump’s administration, THAT is her job
McEnema! Love it enough to steal!
TJI #1 & #2: LMAO! So true!
Either we did not get the full 4″ of snow we were promised, or a lot melted this morning (probably a combination.) I see we’ve broken the two-Scaramucci mark.
Cartoon – There is so much American shame, most of which we have never acknowledged, let alone dealt with (even imperfectly.)
Blast – Hat tip to Bach.
I read “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” earlier this year. Sad, tragic, criminal! That genocide is what allowed Goering to say that the Nazis had done nothing that the Americans had not done previously.
BOP: Love them; saw them in Manhattan, in the early ’70’s, but I’ve told that tale before.
Georgia: Go, Stacey, Go!
What really burns me up about the Wounded Knee massacre is the fact that several soldiers were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. For highest valor. For slaughtering unarmed civilians. Really!
I wonder if it’s possible to to revoke them now.
I wondered that too. Even as a veteran, I don’t know the answer. My guess is probably – but Congress would have to do so.
Nine hundred and eleven Medals of Honor have been revoked
It must be a terrible experience to have your Medal of Honor revoked after celebrating the achievement of such a status. But In 1916, it was decided that some Medals of Honor had been awarded for reasons other than distinguished service, and consequently, about 911 recipients lost the decoration.
This affected soldiers of the 27th Maine Regiment who had served during the Civil War, servicemen who served as Abraham Lincoln’s funeral guards, and several civilians including “Buffalo Bill” Cody and Mary Walker.
Cody and Walker’s medals, as well as those of four other people, were restored many years later.
War History Online
1918 – so they could have revoked those of the participants in the 1890 masscre – but they did not. That actually makes it worse.
BTW I read the whole article and did not find out who “they” is – although, since there are three forms of the medal for Army, Navy, and Air Force, I would presume it would be the service which awarded it that would have the authority to rescind it.
Cartoon: Tragic…Shameful.
BFTP: Great song.
Nice to hear that Wendy made it over.
Finally got some rain in my area, yesterday. It was nice hearing it come down during the night too.
Hope you’re feeling better today.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
You always liked cold weather a little better than warm, if I remember correctly; has that changed now that you have lost so much weight, TomCat?
4:20 Very pretty design.
Cartoon: One of the many Ámericasn shames’ where indigenous people are concerned. Thank you for reminding us of this heinous event, TomCat, it shouldn’t be forgotten or ignored.
BFTP: I don’t think there are many people who understand what this song is about – I don’t – but who cares, it’s a great modern classic based on a little Bach.
Lona, it varies. Sometime I have sweats and sometimes I have chills with no apparent cause.
Thanks and Hump Day Hugs to all! 🐪
