It’s a crazy, sick, exhausted day here in the CatBox.  Please forgive my outburst yesterday.  illness, disappointment, and exhaustion got the better of me.  Rest assured, it was temporary.  The situation today looks more hopeful.   I am still disgusted with the people of the US who voted red and more disgusted with the traitors, who did not vote.  I’m sorry it seemed like I’m giving up on this country.  I’m not.  And I never considered for a second giving up up on my friends here.  That won’t happen until until three days after they sweep up my ashes.  After that, if you hear a purr in your ears, I will not have given up then either.  I am still exhausted and worried sick.  WWWendy is coming, and Store to Door is delivering groceries.  I need to go back to bed.  What I do tomorrow will depend on how I feel.  But I will touch base at a minimum.  Go, Joe, Go!

  1. Cartoon: Yep!
I feel where you’re coming from w/the anxiety, and not knowing. I woke up several times last night, thinking the same thing as you, Tom. I’m sure that someone ‘upstairs’ is testing us…but, through thick and thin, we’ll all be okay. Get your rest, take good, good care, Tom, and hopefully…rest easy! I pray for BLUE to come through too!!

*This just in: dt – “STOP the Count!!” “If only you had fought a pandemic as furiously as you fight our Democracy!”  ~ MonChu Chode~
    2. “There was a clear winner on election night. Marijuana.” ~ anon ~
    3. “Wilbur Beast, a French Bulldog, won the mayoral election of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky with a total of 22,985 votes cast.” ~ Namita Singh ~
    4. “Biden vows to rejoin Paris Climate Accord on ‘Day ONE’ if he wins.” ~ Mike M. ~
    5. “Puerto Ricans have voted for Statehood. Now it’s up to Congress.” ~ Nicole Narea/Vox
    6. “A new AG is going to come hunting for Russian assets known as Republicans.” ~ Joanne W. ~
*And lastly, but just as important: “It shouldn’t be this close. Not after caging children. Not after selling out our soldiers. Not after 230,000 dead. It should not be this close.” ~ Don Winslow ~

  2. i woke up during the night and had trouble getting back to sleep, because I realized where all those votes are coming from, and, frankly, it terrified me that no one else has seen it, or at least no one has said anything

Huge – Yuuuge – bloc of Trump* votes were not votes for Trump* are NOT “for trump*” and certainly not “for Pence.”  Nor are they votes “against Joe.”  They are votes “against Kamala.”

Because police are not shooting white women in the streets (or even arresting many who should be arrested), we have forgotten – again – how deep misogyny runs in this country.  That vast number of votes comes from people who are terrified Joe will not live another four years and Kamala will become President.

We saw it in 2008 with Hillary.  We saw it again in 2016 with Hillary (and we said it was because she had been “demonized.”  But every candidate gets demonized.  It only stuck to her because of misogyny.)

Now we are seeing it again, and God help us if we brush it off.  I believe in women and want to see women succeed – and be in charge – as much as anyone.  But I also think the last four years have been too high a price to pay.  Everyone knows the list as well as I do – children in cages, a quarter million deaths, Social Security, Medicare, the judicial system for at least a generation.  And our reputation.

And it is not going t change in four years.  I would like to think it might change in forty, but I doubt it.

    Now –

Cartoon – Two and a half.  But in any case, long, long ago.

  3. Well there certainly something in the air, because I too was up numerous times last night and wasn’t able to fall back asleep.
To see this morning that nothing really has changed from where things were last night with the vote counts is insane.
Then to have flipping protestors who some were armed at the counting locations creating more chaos.
Never have we ever had an election like this.
I like you, TomCat, still can’t believe how many people would even vote for tRump??? What in the heck do they see in this fake fool??? Ever since he stepped into the W. H. January 2016, he’s done nothing for our country. Except to create hatred with other countries. I’m not speaking about his two favorites, Russia and N. Korea. Not done one think for the people in regards to health care, education, or immigration.
I will continue praying that Biden/Harris are the winning team. Our country needs them now to turn it around in a positive direction.
Tell Wendy “Hello”. Hope she had a nice mini vacation.
Please get some rest. We’re all in this together.
    Take care. Thanks TomCat

    • Coleen, this might help understand where the idiots come from.  But, I think that the misogyny issue was also a piece of the puzzle.  I had a sick feeling about that yesterday.

      • Yes, Bandy Lee I think is right too, as far as it goes.  Bt those were the votes we knew about.  The misogyny (and dare I say as in 2016?) was the votes we didn’t know about until they came in.

  4. Ike ran as a Republican, but I’m not sure he really cared.  Sadly, part of his legacy was a paranoid Dick.
TC, I would welcome your purring into my ear, from “over there.”  My deceased BFF, moved a wine glass for me, at his house 2 1/4 years after he left with at least one witness, his widow.

  5. Of course, I will not abandon my friends here at PP and certainly not you, TomCat.

But I’ll keep my comments short and perhaps not always on-topic, because you don’t need to have me repeat what I think of America in every comment. Let me just say one more time that I think the US is a very sick puppy and a significant portion of its people need to be decontaminated from the poison they’ve gladly swallowed. And that’s the end of it. My friends here have enough to contend with without me spewing my gall in every comment.

Stay strong, TomCat. Biden may still win, and we’ll see from there what happens.

  6. Thanks and exhausted TGIF Hugs to all. 19

Please see today’s Fat Lady Update!

  7. I was reading an article about Steve Bannon calling for the execution of Dr Fauci and Christopher Wray, director of the FBI.  To say that I was absolutely gobsmacked is a severe understatement!  There is freedom of speech in the 1st amendment, but when did freedom of speech become freedom of sedition?  My comment is below.

One does not yell “fire!” in a crowded theatre but that is exactly what Bannon is doing.  He, in my opinion, is guilty of sedition, not Fauci or Wray.  Further, Trump is also fanning the flames of insurrection with his inflammatory rhetoric.  I am against capital punishment so no death penalty but a very long stay at a crowbar hotel is definitely warranted.

A comment I recently saw that said “dt – “STOP the Count!!” “If only you had fought a pandemic as furiously as you fight our Democracy!” ” certainly hits the mark!  Trump is completely unhinged as is Bannon. I believe that the reason Trump is fighting the election results so hard is that there are prosecutions lined up against him once he is out of office.  He is not fighting for democracy or the 62 million misguided souls who voted for him in 2016, he is only fighting for Donald J Trump, a scared incompetent little boy.
