It’s a hectic day, here in the CatBox. I’m feeling a bit under the weather, so I decided to take the day to work on some end of life tasks. I closed out our PayPal account and between that and some savings, I paid for our Domain and Hosting Expenses through August, 2025. I feel relieved and peaceful in the knowledge that JD, Lona, Lynn, and Nameless (listed alphabetically) will able to operate PP for a long, long time without having to spend their own money to do so. I also elevated Lona to full Administrator, since her situation has allowed her to post again. Also, I arranged for Kitty Kremation. Also, because Trump* has virtually destroyed the NFL season, and I no longer have the energy to keep track of the mess, I decided to disband our Fantasy Football league, may the Holy Ellipsoid Orb forgive me my heinous sin of so doing! I’ll be back in the saddle tomorrow. Happy Hump Day.

From YouTube (a blast of protest): OHIO CSNY – Kent State Massacre Montage
We must never forget that Republicans in power will kill us to stay in power. How much worse is Trump* than Nixon? Protest like the 60s. RESIST!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Glad to hear that you got those things taken care of. (We have bought into a “natural burial” cemetery, nearby, and are scheduled to visit tomorrow to choose our specific sites. This is within a wildlife protected area, great for a tree hugger like myself).
Trump* has destroyed, or wounded, many national institutions, including the NFL, and he is not done yet.
TVU: On the interactive map, Alabama does not seem as bad as it does on the original one. We are back from a visit to the Mobile area, and so far, so good.
BOP: So damned unneeded, and sad! And then Ford pardoned the bastard!!
Cartoon: Sad day indeed.
TVU: Not moved much since yesterday. Hold my breath…PTL.
BOP: A very sad day, and song for the ages.
Sounds like you have been busy in preparing for your future. I know that all of our four friends here w/take good care of PP. Hope that you have a good rest of your afternoon, take good, good care, get your nap in, and rest. Thanks, Tom.
*This just in: “It certainly is a RED FLAG when the potus argues in court that the release of his financial records will cause him ‘irreparable harm’.” ~ A Worried Citizen ~
2. What a headline: “Trump says he spoke with Jacob Blake’s pastor. Blake’s family says they don’t have a pastor.” ~ Don Winslow ~
3. Elliott Broidy – “Sing! Canary! Sing!” ~ Katie P. ~
4. “Trump says soup cans are being weaponized during protests. Wow, never saw that one coming…I absolutely didn’t have cans of soup as a weapon of choice on my BS bingo card. We apparently need soup control !! and we need it now!” ~ Kathy L. ~ Question: Can one just use cans of Goya beans or is it just soup? jw. idk. *pb*
5. “AFTER the fires, the owner of an old Kenosha camera shop refused to pose with trump, saying trump was using him and his shop for political gain. So trump had the FORMER owner of the shop pretend to be the current owner for a photo op. ~ Laura B. ~
TJI #4 – But – wait – I thought – I thought Trump* thought – soup comes in bags!
It’s a lot of work, isn’t it. I’m struggling with some details in my situation I’ve pre-arranged DH’s cremation, and provided all the information to his case manager. I have the music picked out and complied (and on CDs) for both his and my memorial services (he nagged me till I got that done.) And I have a signed will … but it’s out of date now since my executrix moved across the country. I’m trying to figure out who else I can ask. But there are a lot of other loose ends still. At my last physical (not quite a year ago) my doctor told me the two things I should be most concerned about were car crashes and falls, and CoViD pretty well eliminated the first one for now.
And between Trump* and Nixon, it’s tough to tell, especially for me – I was in the military, so my own civil liberties were less affected than those of civilians. And Nixon didn’t have a plague to deal with. One thing we can compare is China. Nixon opened relations with it (In fact, that is the opera tonight.) Trump* – not so much.
Cartoon – They had no idea what they had. Well, they learned. Eventually. Almost too well.
Map – North and South dakota (and why DO we need two Dakotas?)? And Iowa? Sheesh.
There really is nothing new under the sun.
When I saw in the New Yorker newsletter and article about Greek tragedy, I of course wondered whether the troupe was the same I had read about years ago which was using very unorthodox performances of Greek tragedies to assist PTSD veterans, and also in work for social justice (Antigone in Ferguson), I had to look. And it is the same group, now using Greek tragedies to assist front line medical workers, and also still for social justice (Prometheus in Prison.) This quotation from the article is not about drama, but is still very telling as to what we are seeing around us:
Based on her study of the German child-rearing manuals popular around Hitler’s parents’ generation, Alice Miller, who was a Holocaust survivor, concluded that beating children “for their own good”—training them to accept and idealize their own abuse—is the perfect way to produce obedient subjects of an authoritarian government. Children whose perceptions haven’t been respected become adults who support strongmen who rule by gaslighting and disinformation. Children who aren’t allowed “to be aware of their own needs or to defend their own interests,” as she wrote, will never know them….This is the simplest answer to the much-debated question of why people vote against their own interests: the connection between “my interests” and “good” has been scrambled at an early age.
I have a question for anyone to comment on.
Trump goes on about law and order ad nauseum. He is a Republican right now and so thinks law and order does not apply to him. Why can’t Americans (the sheeple variety) see the hypocrisy of Trump, who is guilty of so many crimes and scams, yet calls others to law and order? Should he not turn himself in to the legal authorities and quit blocking various subpoenas? I get why he doesn’t turn himself in — he is a COWARD! But why don’t Americans demand he be held to account now? I live for the day that he is arrested, tried, convicted in a court of law and sent to prison (not club fed with gold toilets!) for the rest of his life!
Because his bunch of sheeple does not understand what law and order really is. Courts, court orders, subpoenas, judicial decisions – they don’t think of those as law. They think of law, when thay think of it at all, as something that keeps them secure in their own lives. But they don’t really think of it much. What they really think of and support is order – which they define as keeping the lower classes (an entity they probably couldn’t define if they had to, but it roughly consists of non-white people and very poor people – and of course people who they think damage property) in their place.
There is no discrepancy between that vision and Trump*’s behavior and policies at all.
having just spent my afternoon in Covid testing clinic….I am tired of “so much winning”….and really am not happy that the states surrounding mine (Minnesota) are in red and that, at least in Iowa, college football (Iowa State) still plans to play……
Thank the Heavens that at least Iowa State (a LEADER in Hot Spots) has decided to forgo having ANY spectators – down from the 25,000 they were originally fine with.

You have a history of more and better progressivism than we are seeing now … at least in the streets. Add Paul Wellstone to the group of statesmen and women who are spinning in their graves.
Cartoon: Too bad they had to end a good thing.
TVU: Still climbing. Now one of our local colleges are seeing a major spike in cases. Now they are closing classes on campus and will have virtual online instead.
BOP: Sad…so tragic.
Glad you got things taken care of.
I did my Living Trust many years ago. Never know if or what could happen when we walk out of our home.
Hope you had a good rest of day.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
Your responsible approach of getting your ducks lines up in a row reminds me that I need to revisit w/ my lawyer WRT my Revocable Living Trust & Will.
It’s been at least two decades now, and there have been a HUGE number of changes.
I’m sure all four of us will do the very best we can to continue your legacy, but you do realise yours are awfully big shoes to fill, don’t you? I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that you live to see Trump and all his cronies booted from the White House and Congress and can rest knowing that the real America has prevailed. I hope it will be the start of a better America too and that the need to nail Republicans with their ears to the door will diminish rapidly as America restores itself.
4:16 Too big to goop.
Cartoon: I’m still watching reruns of the many spin-offs it had.
Update: It looks quite calm presented this way, but behind the WH facade in the real world? America is still number one, no matter how many cases/deaths go unreported because they’re not tested.
BOP: How many more?
Nothing is too big to goop!
Inside the ‘Republican Resistance’ is a discussion of about 25 minutes between Al Jazeera’s Steve Clemons (The Bottom Line) and Anthony Scaramucci.
I happened upon the above taped discussion and found it interesting in many ways. Have a listen if you can. For Nameless there is closed captioning. Unfortunately there was no embed code that I could see.
Thankful hugs to all!
I wasn’t that responsible. After all, I waited until I am at deaths door to do the things I should have done years ago.
