The following is an editorial by MSNBC Republican host, Joe Scarborough. It is obviously directed to Republicans, but I can’t resist sharing it with you as well. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve disagreed with Joe over the years, I could finance a luxurious retirement for us all, but this time, I could not agree more.
What a tremendous burden it must be for you to still be defending President Trump. You have called yourself a constitutional conservative for decades, but now you sit silently as the president pushes to move this year’s election because he might lose. Even some Republican senators are speaking up. Why aren’t you?
Trump remembers how you ran interference for him when he claimed unlimited powers under Article II of the Constitution, so he thinks you will stay quiet. Remember your silence after Charlottesville? You eventually mustered the nerve to claim Trump never preached moral equivalence between torch-carrying Nazis and protesters. How unthoughtful it was of David Duke to expose you by praising the president’s putrid performance and thanking Trump for his “honesty and courage to tell the truth.” The former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard even bragged to reporters that Charlottesville represented a “turning point” for white nationalism. “We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump,” Duke proclaimed. “That’s why we voted for [him].”
Ouch. That one had to sting, but you kept on defending Donald…
…By this time, you began mindlessly regurgitating the former reality TV host’s propaganda about the “Russian hoax,” and hoped Americans would be stupid enough to ignore the mountains of damning evidence against Trump. Your singular focus turned to the Steele dossier’s most lurid tales, and you believed then, and now, that Christopher Steele’s fantastical claims could erase a multitude of Trump’s sins. You repeated the lies of Attorney General William P. Barr and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey O. Graham when they falsely claimed the FBI’s investigation began with Steele’s dossier. And you kept repeating this idiotic defense even after it became painfully evident that Trump’s team welcomed Russia’s interference in American democracy and then tried to cover it up. You still refuse to criticize the Trump team’s use of material stolen by Russia during the last month of the campaign, just like you and your president continue turning a blind eye to any Russian bounties.
None dare call it treason, but perhaps one day they will. [emphasis added]

I could not disagree more with Joe on the opinions he shares about Democrats in this clip, but at least I can respect his integrity.

Wish they would all get onboard like Joe did.
In view of the fact that “Conservative” principles do not nourish integrity (“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.” – John Kenneth Galbraith), it really is amazing that there are any left who have even a shred of it – (And I’m not sure Joe counts as one – does he still consider himself Republican? I know many of those who have shown any integrity do not consider themselves Republicans any longer.)
Frankly, I am overwhelmed by the thought of the millions of Americans for whom hate of anyone and anything different is actually a value – a principle. I saw that in my youth. With others of good will, I fought it. We thought we won, and with no shame, because it is a principle to those who espouse it, but we did not win – it never went away – it merely went into the shadows. Now it is again out in the open, and I don’t know how to fight it.
Remember the story in the Bible about the Burning Bush that spoke to Moses? The flames did not consume it (although they were how enough to burn Moses if he got too close,) and, although IIRC it wasn’t tried, I don’t believe water would have put it out. It feels to me like we have a forest fire of these burning bushes – and like the original, they all think they are God. Try being a firefighter in that forest fire.
That wonderful quote from the pen of J. K. Galbraith, was Carrie B.’s theme on C2. I sent it to the author of the book “The Truth about Denial, Bias and Self-Deception in Science, Politics, and Religion” ( we exchanged a few e-mails) and he said he appreciated it.
Yup. It’s still her signature on her email.
He’s talking to people who may never had any ethical fibre, I expect, but certainly haven’t been eating their Cheerios of late! And, I do not believe they will listen, and may he wrath of the voters consume them in flames!

Wish he had opened his eyes back in 2016 rather than endlessly promoting Trump.
Finally.. he’s aware of what is currently going on.

Oh well, I guess it’s better late than never.
Today’s Republican party is NOT the party of Lincoln no matter how often they say it is. It may have the same name but that is where the similarities end. Today’s Republican party is the Democrats aka Dixiecrats from the reconstruction period, the post US civil war period, Carpetbaggers and Robber Barons with Trump a shifty carnival barker selling snake oil.
I agree with most of Joe’s statement but I do not hold out any chance of redemption. The party and its supporters have sold their souls like Daniel Webster and have not demonstrated any willingness to recant. The only solution is extinction!
