It’s a muggy day here in the CatBox. Kristin seemed quite nice, and she’ll do a fine job filling in for WWWendy. She’ll be coming once, while WWWendy is away. WWWendy returns your greetings and appreciates your good wishes. Happy Hump Day!

Cartoon:
Trump* Virus Update:
US Cases: 3,548,546
US Deaths: 139,189
Short Takes:
From Crooks and Liars: The Trump supporters who defaced a Black Lives Matter mural last week may not have to worry about rent for the next year, as they may gain jail accommodations courtesy of the county. The DA issued this press release:
Click through for more. A year is not enough jail time for those racist Republican pigs! RESIST!!
From YouTube (Robert Reich Channel): Corporate Hypocrisy on Racism
Of Course the Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. The Reich on the Right, the Republican Reich, was racist long before criminal Fuhrer Trump* arrived, and will still be racist long after we drag him, kicking and screaming, from the house he stole. These corporate $billionaires actually own the Republican Reich and have kept it in power, so they must also be the authors of Republican racism. Remember, even anti-Trump* Republicans are just as Republican. Unlike Trump*, they hide their hate and greed. RESIST!!
From YouTube (a blast from Labor): Joan Baez- Bread and roses
Support Labor! RESIST!!
Vote Blue No Matter Who Top to Bottom!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
That’s all good to hear. – except the muggy part. I feel with you on that. Update – 3 pm my time [2 pm at the CatBox] – “muggy” has turned into “Hail.”
I think we need some outrageous humor
I’m not trying to drown people with ads, but they just keep coming, and they are short at least.
Lincoln Project Tweet – and there’s also an ad.

Well, Mitch, you may be stuck with DeSantis, but you do have Beau.
Yesterday was Bastille Day. I almost missed it. If anyone would like to re-watch the “La Marseillaise” scene from Casablanca with more information than you ever though you would know about it, here’s the link. A 78 year old movie – and it feels just like today’s news.
Cartoon – How ironic is that – considering the positions are – NOT the same – but visually similar to Muslim prayer positions.
Map – … Zero. Three and a half million achieved. Four million by September 1? Incidentally I’ll bet that, say, 10% of Texas cases is still a lot more cases than, say, 50% of Idaho’s cases. But none of it is good.
C&L – Any good news is good. Funny how the “lawless” liberal was careful to appliy for a permit, while the “law and order” Republicans didn’t bother.
Reich – Thank you for finding and posting this. Robert always sees and cuts through the crap. On a smaller scale, I might mention the GOYA boycott. Not that I’ve ever used any of their products except juice drinks, but I’m in for what it’s worth.
Past – Union song from 1911. Lovely. And, I might add, a nice rejoinder to Scott Lively.
Joanne, I am stuck with DeSantis, and I do have Beau- “…and we are ready for that transition to greatness,” speaks to the gullibility of so many of our countrymen. Baby, if it hasn’t happened in the last 31/2 years, it ain’t acomin’! This reminds me of he fellow who used one and a half million to help fund the fool Tennessee radio pastor who knew the world was about to end in May of 2011. He was at NYC’s Times Square, at noon, Eastern time, when a reporter asked him how it was that the end had not arrived, yet, for those folks for whom it was already mid-night. He said that one just had to wait a bit longer. Are we great yet, Orange bozo?
I wish to see a re-call movement aimed at DeSantis, once his protector is in jail.
Apparently he grew up on the area that Southerners call “Dixie” – not the whole South, but essentially LA-MS-AL – but now lives in Florida
Good luck with that recall. Are there a lot of hoops to jump through?
Please continue drowning me, Joanne.
As always, great vids!
‘Toon: So sad that they have to do that in order to give their brains some air.
TVU: More than 15,000 new cases seen in Florida!
C&L: Public housing for these bozos? Sounds good to me.
RRC: Hitting the nail on the head, once again!
Joan Baez: I’ve never heard that song before; excellent.
Cartoon: Egads!!
TVU: From the county: 749 cases, 60 recovered, 11 deaths.
C&L: So full of hate. Glad to see that they will serve time.
RR: Thank you, Mr. Reich. I saw a picture of Ivanka Trump who was holding a can of Goya beans in her hand…BOYCOTT the company.
BFTP: Excellent !!
Glad that Kristin w/fill in for WWWendy. It’s hot as Hades here, over 100. Hope that you get in a nap and can relax today. Take good care, stay cool, and Thanks, Tom.
*This just in: “Ivanka Trump posted this tweet – ‘If it’s Goya, it has to be good! ‘Si, es Goya tiene que su bueno.’ “Find something new to do, like selling black beans from the WH. Be Creative!” ~ Kevin LD. ~
2. “Trump soiled the WH Rose Garden with that performance. Presidents do not use the Rose Garden in that kind of naked political fashion. That was not a press conference, as the WH described it. It was a campaign rally disguised as a press conference. It was a ‘bait and switch’. ~ Jim Acosta ~
3. Betsy DeVos, Sec.of Ed. – “You have no Plan. Teachers, Kids, and Parents are fearing for their lives. You point to a private sector that has put profits over people and claimed the lives of thousands of essential workers. I wouldn’t trust you to care for a houseplant, let alone my child. ~ Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA)
4. What Trump has done for our Soldiers – “Allowed a Bounty on their heads, took military $$$ for his wall, cut their benefits. Talks disrespectfully about generals and soldiers. Goes against Oath and supports a foreign hostile power. Trump is a treasonous traitor. ~ Mary G. ~
5. “Trump’s defense – Lie.” ~ Bill Kristol ~
1st video – Excellent
2nd video – biting my tongue….he’s an A – – !
LP – Great video. I support Dr. Fauci !
RVAT: I certainly agree with what they said.
Beau: Amen !!!
Thanks, Joanne for getting these out here.
TJI # 2 and a half – Anderson Cooper: “Jim, is there *anyone* left in the administration who shakes their head when they hear the president rambling in the Rose Garden?” Jim Acosta: “No, Anderson, we are down to Kool-Aid drinkers and next of kin.”
YVW – Sometimes they just outdo themselves.
Cartoon: Must be the way they react to urgent matters.,, especially now with the Covid-19 pandemic.
TVU: Another 558 new cases. We’re up to 21,446. 448 deaths.
C&L: Good news. Love when the evil ones get caught and prosecuted.
RR: He’s spot on.
BFTP: I like Joan Baez and remember many of her songs just don’t recognize this song.
Glad to hear that Kristin is nice and that she’s going to be able to help while Wendy is away.
I’m running late tonight, because it’s been a wild one today, I got an email from Walmart.com saying my refund was being process. I copied the order number and went to Walmart.com to check into it, since I thought the email was spam, so I didn’t click the link on it. I notice it that the product was sent to TN. I called Capital 1 to find out if my credit card was used, since I haven’t used it for over 18 months. They couldn’t find the transaction. I went to look at the four digits they showed on the order invoice and I realized it was my Costco Citi bank card. I called Citi bank and they closed out the account and will be sending me a new card. Never a dull moment. That took a couple of hours so I didn’t get to look at the clips that Joanne posted. Will try to tomorrow morning.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
DeSantis Video Clip That Did NOT Age Well:
DeSantis would age far better in a cell!
Glad you like Kristin, TomCat and that she’ll help you shower.
2:51 Is this a new one?
Cartoon: Or any deal Trump either came up with or destroyed.
Update: more than 3,5 million and yet “steady” still means the increase is steady, not the numbers.
C&L: I’m not sure which would be better; Nelson and Anderson sentenced before November 3rd and Trump, of course, pardoning them, which would make things really bad for him, or Nelson and Anderson sentenced after November 3ed and making sure they get behind bars.
RR: The term “CEO of a big corporation” should be redefined as “Republican hypocrites” with an apology to the very few of them that aren’t.
BFL: New to me. Labour in Europe sings “The Internationale”, each in their own language, of course.
We were fortunate to have Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Malvina Reynods, and so many other creative activists. We did also sing the iternationale, I believe, but I’m not positive.
I hope everything worked out for you after all the hard work you put in to have your account(s) secured and didn’t get to your money, Colleen.
Thanks and pained hugs to all!
