Here is the one hundred seventy-eighth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner Republican Nazi soldier and traitor, Ethan Melzer. He is so honored for plotting a jihadist terrorist attack against his own Army unit.
An American soldier has been arrested for plotting with what prosecutors describe as a “neo-Nazi cult” to attack his own Army unit.
The Washington Post reports that 22-year-old Ethan Melzer gave intelligence about his unit to a racist U.K.-based group called the Order of Nine Angles so they could help launch an attack against it.
“Melzer allegedly provided this potentially deadly information intending that it be conveyed to jihadist terrorists,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
Strauss described the planned attack as a “murderous ambush” and said Melzer was “motivated by racism and hatred as he attempted to carry out this ultimate act of betrayal.”… [emphasis added]

I have no doubt that our veterans will agree that our service personnel trust each other with their lives, so it’s hard to imagine a more Republican crime than this. Frankly, I hope he gets life without possibility of parole.
Note the ease in which Nazis and Islamic terrorists work together. As much as Republicans like to associate Al Qaeda and the Daesh (ISIL) with the left, the association could not be valid. These organizations are right wing. How could they be leftists when they act just like Republicans.
This does give me cause to worry about the future of brand new Acting US Attorney Audrey Strauss of the the SDNY. After Melzer committed an act that would qualify him for a high government post in the Republican Reich, criminal Fuhrer Trump* may sic Barrf on Strauss for prosecuting Melzer.

I don’t understand how one can get to be manipulated, fed and harboring these lies to kill folks while serving this country within it’s military ranks. So much venom and hate. I am sure there’s a vacancy open for him at ADX Florence, CO too.
By all means, I too, pray for US Attorney Audrey Strauss’ protection. All of them up there. SDNY.
I am confused. He was clearly active duty when he committed this crime. (crimes). Is he still? Nothing is mentioned about that. Was he courtmartialed and discharged? Has he been discharged No way to tell.
The military is pretty jealous of their judicial powers under the UCMJ. This comes up again and agan when members of the military commit crimes which are also civil crimes, particular when those crimes directly affect individuals in the civilian community. Double jeopardy is only one issue. But apparently, in this case, not a peep from the Army. I would say this is definitely being taken seriously – by at least some people with authority to keep is serious.
And, yes, TC, you are right. Perhaps that’s the answer. Perhaps the military feared that if he were to be kept in military custody, he would be torn limb from limb.
Heard about this last night on the Nightly News. He admitted that he was so full of hate, that no telling how many would of been killed if he would of followed thru with his violent killing spree.
Not being from a military family, I’m puzzled on how he made it as far as he did, without anyone seeing the violence/hate that he had for his country??
Glad that he was captured before it did any harm to all the other service members.
I’m glad that Ethan Melzer has been caught before his actions could do any harm, but it’s strange that he isn’t court-martialled for his treason (that’s what it is, isn’t it?) but instead is prosecuted by the SDNY. Perhaps he isn’t in the army any longer, which would fit in with having his own unit attacked by jihadist terrorists while he was no longer in it, the cowardly betrayal usually associated with people like Meltzer.
I’m also glad the connection with the neo-Nazi cult and their willingness to play a role in this attack is mentioned here because I’m sure this will soon disappear from the news.

I know that the JAG and the FBI handled the investigation jointly, si the decision to have SDNY handle the case instead of a court martial must have been a joint one.
