If you haven’t already, then before you do anything else, scroll back one post (or open this URL:  https://www.7thstep.org/blog/2020/04/25/a-note-about-tom-from-wendy/)

Your admnistrators/editors cannot guarantee an update every day, for reasons which are obvious in the situation.  But we will do what we can and will all pitch in.

Here is some weekend stuff:

First, here’s a reminder to all of us not to dismiss everyone in red states – not even in the red state that Kris Kobach calls home.

Then, here is what sounds like an episode of The Twilight Zone – but it is real.

Also, I put Auntie Maxine’s mailing address in Friday’s open thread, under Pat’s TJI on her (Maxine’s) sister.  But Elizabeth Warren has also lost a sibling – her oldest, funny and charimg, brother.  Here is her addess:

Senator Elizabeth Warren
309 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Finally, with everything else, I managed to miss THREE new Randy Rainbows

The oldest is from March 22:

Then there was one one on April 6:

And the neeset (and in my opinion the best, though I won’t be dogmatic about that) came out just yesterday:

That is all I have, except my strong feeling that WWWendy WW deserves extra pay (which should also include hazard pay) .

We will be here – well, we will ALL be here for each other.  No one needed this, least of all TomCat.  And don’t forget to

(Just don’t do it like those idiots.)

  1. And here is SNL’s Cold Open.  It’s rather solemn, though certainly witty

And Nancy Pelosi got off another zinger:  “They call that embalming.  That’s the medical term.”

  2. I got choked up reading both posts. One about a man and his twin, and the other one showing kindness from a farmer to NY medical.

I honestly believe that being quarantined and away from the daily hustles and bustles of ordinary life, that I have a chance to slow down, meditate, or even take a walk. In the backyard.
Randy 1 – Spot on! (he’s so adorable!)
Randy 2 – I’m in love with Andy too, Randy!
Randy 3. – A spoonful of Clorox … makes one ill and near pending death. I did like the tune though.

Thank you, Joanne for post, and prayers UP for TomCat. Appreciate the update too. I hope that all goes well for him, and that he get to come back to his catbox.

This just in: “It’s hard to social distance when you’re kissing the Ring.” ~ Kevin Cate- Democratic consultant ~
    2. “I made my morning coffee with Clorox today. It did wonders for the inside of the coffee maker.”~ Gene C. ~
    3. “If you don’t believe in science, and you resist governance, it’s very hard to lead a pandemic challenge.”
    ~ Nancy Pelosi ~
    4. “Deutsche Bank refuses to give US Senators information on recent Trump dealings?? Isn’t that the same bank that protected Nazi’s banking info during the Crimes Against Humanity trials?? ~ Tonya M. ~
*I look this up, and the answer is yes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Bank    *pb

    • The tune was from “Mary Poppins,” the 1966 one, and so were some of the effects (such as the mini-duet with himself in the mirror.) Not the first time he has used a Mary Poppins tune, but there are plenty more.  (I would love for our nation to get to the point where “Feed the Birds” and “Fidelity Fiduciary Bank” could be satirized as a pair and the message could actually be heard.  With all the noise we have now, it couldn’t.)

  3. I saw a clip of that on Twitter last night. Brad nailed it. The shout out to first responders was the thing to do. Those folks are incredible and the real heroes of this pandemic all over the world. I hope people remember that when this thing is finally ended. These are the people who earn their not-large-enough salaries so much more than CEO’s and others who bring no human value to the world but own most of it. I’ve always had a high opinion of them, my maternal grandmother was an RN (though also a farm wife) and one of the women I’ve always admired most. That number has grown with this horror by many orders of magnitude. Stay safe everyone!

    • I haven’t fact-checked this, but it’s being said that Dr. Fauci expressed a wish, when the inevitable disaster movie gets made, to be played by Brad Pitt.  If so, I hope he has seen and enjoyed this.

  4. Thank you for a wonderful update, Joanne. The longer this virus rules our days and the news the more I’m in need of satire and sarcasm, so Randy 🌈 and SNL’s Brad Pitt are just the medicine I need.

I hope TomCat can read this really soon because it would mean at least he’s tested negative for COVID-19 and is out of isolation or, better yet, he’s back home.

Even if it is only virtually, TomCat, a big hug from all of us.

    • Amen, loudly.  I had been seeing stories about it taking 10-14 days to get test results back, so After reading your post I looked up Oregon (which of course could vary wildly from city to rural to over the Cascades) and found a Portland-are article that was saying anywhere up to a week there.  However, it was not current – it was a little over three weeks old.  We just can’t be sure what to expect. That’s a gorgeous picture of him you found and there’s a lot of love in it.  I know he’ll appreciate it.

  5. SNL: I watched the beginning of the show. Brad Pitt was great playing Dr. Fauci. Appreciated the way he praised Dr. Fauci and all of the medical, rescuers, etc  We all thank them for what they have done.
All of the Randy Rainbows videos are right on.
The news today was mentioning that because of tRump’s disinfectant/bleach fiasco, that things are going to change, like tRump won’t be having these daily briefings . I hope it’s true. I’ve been signing petitions regarding it.
Thanks for the update Joanne. TomCat is in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

    • Thanks Colleen.  My heart wishes I could be there to help – but my brain knows that I’d be useless, even if they would let me in, which they wouldn’t.  I too hold him in my thoughts and prayers, and the only other thing I can actually do is post.

  6. Joanne,
    Thank you!

  7. All three of those videos are hilarious, especially “A Spoonful of Clorox”! I wonder how many picklewits actually tried some of tRump’s B.S. advice. Are the presenters of the Darwin Awards ever going to be run ragged! And that’s to say nothing of the bit-brains protesting lockdowns.

    • Fortunately for the Darwin Awards people, it’s not enough to kill yourself to receive a Darwin Award.  You must kill yourself (unintentionally and stupidly) BFEORE you have reproduces.  So a lot of the people in the most danger from this are already disqualified.  I don’t know how they could possibly deal with the loonies otherwise, even in a good year.

  8. Joanne, this was a marvelous job, the “Randy’s” are great, and the links were really valuable.  Hoping that TC is back soon,in any case.

  9. Great Job, JD!  Hugs to all! 35

  10. I watched Randy Rainbow yesterday and they were absolutely brilliant! . . . especially the Spoonful of Clorox!  Thank you so much for those JD!

The other two links were sad yet heart warming.  Dennis is a treasure and in a biblical sense, gave all that he had for someone else in need.  It is people like Dennis that renew faith in humanity.  A definite tear-jerker!  And seemingly from the twilight zone, Mr Kahn succumbed to COVID like his brother did to the Spanish flu in 1919.  His grandson said it well when he said that now the two brothers could connect.

Too bad that Fred Trump did not succumb to the Spanish flu.  The US would have been saved from this travesty of Judas as POTUS!

Thanks for the great post JD!

    • Thanks.  I must agree with you on Fred the second (even though he was only 13 when Fred the First actually DID die in the pandemic.)  If that makes me a bad person, well then, I am a bad person.

A lot of what I just link to is touching like these stories … I am careful not to link to just faceless glurge but to have some background verification or get it form someone I trust.

  11. thank you, randy rainbow is awesome, #Resist

  12. A valuable post appropo to circumstances Joanne.  Thank you.
