(Hmmm – Let me see if I remember how to do this …)
To commence, I’d like to start off on the right foot with a beautiful photo courtesy of Webshots …
KIDDING
In the interim I’ve been able to restock my larder with topics. But I want to begin with a timely one, courtesy of Dr. Donald Trump. And to lay the groundwork, here are his actual words from yesterday’s proxy rally Coronavirus briefing, directly from the White House Transcript:
THE PRESIDENT: So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and I think you said that that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that too. It sounds interesting.
And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. So, that, you’re going to have to use medical doctors with. But it sounds — it sounds interesting to me.
There you have it – Dr. Trump is now switching from Hydroxychloroquine to powerful ultraviolet light and/or injection of disinfectants. So we can all imagine how Hydroxychloroquine is feeling right about now …
There is some concern about bringing the UV “light inside the body” as Trump suggests. Here is one of its more disturbing side effects:
But I want to focus more on his suggestion of directly injecting a disinfectant into the body. I was confused about where this idea came from – until someone provided a snapshot of Trump’s old pharmacy:
The good news is that there are options beside IV administration.
For us pediatricians, that is great news. We all know how scary needles are to most children – so the good news is that Clorox now comes in a chewable tablet.
And for those adults who also don’t like needles, but are not fond of taking kids’ medicine – you can use an inhaler. But to date, only Lysol has developed this delivery mode:
So it appears there are lots of modalities available for administration of disinfectants.
Well, obviously all this goes to prove that we have an EFFING IDIOT in the Oval Office.
As a physician, I truly hope that these “Thought Bubbles” for Dr. Birx, based on her reaction at yesterday’s briefing, are accurate
I have invented a device that allows me to close caption the thoughts of people on camera.
I used it for the first time with footage from last night’s #TrumpPressBriefing about #Covid19 #disinfectant pic.twitter.com/juUvKcF3Dn— Kevin the indoor biker #ThanksNHS 🏳️🌈🇪🇺🇬🇧 (@polbikers) April 24, 2020

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Lordy, the pictures speak loudly on what NOT to do. Yikes!!
The ‘thought bubbles’ from Dr. Birx are noteworthy, as I’d be saying the same thing…over & over…
Great post, Nameless! Thank you!
LOL! I did wonder if the bike that Christ was on in (I think the third) bubble was one of the @polbikers bikes – possibly even Kevin’s very own indoor bike. But I digress.
The one that really scres me is that inhaler. Putting the Lysol where the virus actually is seems just close enough to rational to make reasonable people wish it were true, and the consequences are unimaginable.
Thanks for the chuckles!
That inner “play by play” was wonderful!
I saw the video of her working like the devil not to jump up and scream “You fucking idiot!” at him, and had similar, but not as nice fantasies of what she might have been thinking. One has to hand it to her, she kept her cool!
This is what you get when you marry Malignant Narcissism to Dementia.
A brilliant and hilarious article, Nameless! Thanks.
But also:
Trump made headlines again all over the world, all showing him up as the dangerous idiot he is and warning their people not to take Trump’s advise (see my links yesterday) because it would be lethal, but some American media treat Trump’s daily campaign rallies as serious coronavirus updates and showed it as is. That is not something to laugh about, as some idiot is going to try it.
Of course, now the resident medical genius is maintaining it was al sarcasm. Yeah, right.
The Orange Oaf isn’t fooling anybody. He didn’t intend his half-assed excuse for medical advice to be sarcasm. He’s just an ignorant bugnut who couldn’t pass a basic first aid course.
Anybody who has at least half a grain of sense won’t listen to such asinine advice. On the other hand, the sort of people who would do such stupid things aren’t the sort of people we need voting this November.
Trump says one purpose for things he says in these so-called daily briefings are to give people hope. I read of at least two that died trying his drug recommendation and that a Mississippi doctor opted all by his lone self to do a study of his nursing home patients using it, that a study of it was done by our VA on veterans and that Utah had been funded to do a study on it before the qualified medical doctor resisting expanding the testing got removed from that area of authority. Buried in yesterday’s news was the FDA warning against its use as a treatment for the virus. Given the virus attacks the cardio-vascular systems of many and the drug also has a cardiac side effect, seems prudent advice.
I also note the background of the person doing the report on light, temperature, disinfectants, surfaces and air study results (most all appear to replicate research previously done I’ve read about) was as an engineer with no hint of biology, physiology much less medicine. Read a report what staff wanted the president to do was to recommend cleaning places this way to everyone.
Yesterday he was claiming he meant to be sarcastic, after tons of doctors had hit the news warning people not to do and the disinfectant manufacturers put out similar warnings–one he didn’t even try to claim he hadn’t said…yet I still encountered one of his followers trying to claim that and refusing even to open Fox or any other news on it.
To give us hope, coordinating nationally the effort in this article Mitch shared this morning would do a whole lot more and have greater likelihood of saving rather than taking lives:https://www.newyorker.com/science/medical-dispatch/its-not-too-late-to-go-on-offense-against-the-coronavirus
Thanks Nameless–wish I could have giggled instead of finding it tragic.
You really did a outstanding job with this article.
I’m still shocked that people really were taking this bozo seriously.
I feel no mercy for them if they are that dedicated to him.
I personally don’t watch his briefings. Can’t stand seeing his face or listening to his lies.
Thanks Nameless
I just came from church (virtual of course) and Trump was in the sermon — probably the only time he has been to church! Our pastor is not a Trump fan at all. He and I often get into short discussions about that malignant narcissist and how he is destroying the country. Of course COVID has accelerated the rate of destruction and hopefully the destruction of the GOP!
Thanks Nameless for a great post!
thought bubbles are hilarious!!!!
