It’s a queasy/busy day here in the CatBox. I managed to keep the last three very small meals down, but not without discomfort. It’s also another High Holy Day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb. WWWendy and I shall be meditating between chores. Good luck to both Pat and Nameless. Please don’t fight, you two. Have a great Sunday.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 3:49 (average 5:38). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Cartoon:
Back in those days, even the Democrats were Republican misogynists!
Short Takes:
From YouTube (Daily Kos Channel): Rep. Steve King blames Democrats and George Soros for his racism on the floor of the House
There’s one and only one reason people accuse Steve King [R-KKK] of racism on the floor of the House. The son of a bitch (apologies to dawgs) is a damn Republican racist! RESIST!!
From YouTube (Elizabeth Warren Channel): Elizabeth Warren: No One Should Go Bankrupt Over Medical Problems
Nobody has to tell me how medical mayhem can drive a formerly prosperous person to economic distraction. Liz could not be more spot-on! RESIST!!
From CNN: Australia’s beleaguered prime minister, Scott Morrison, has admitted there were things he “could have handled much better” in the bushfire crisis and will propose a royal commission into the disaster.
The prime minister has been heavily criticized for his tone-deaf interactions with fire-ravaged communities and inaction over climate change.
From what I have surmised, based on comments from Aussies, the biggest mistake was made by Morrison’s father. He should have worn a condom. Kudos to the firefighters from Oregon and all over the world helping to fight the fires there. RESIST!!
From YouTube (a blast from the past): Paul Revere & The Raiders – Indian Reservation HQ Sound
Ah… the memories! RESIST!!
Vote Blue!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Cartoon: Gawd…I can’t even fathom the chance not to vote. What a crying shame for those who couldn’t.
DKC: The blame game. I don’t know how they can sleep at night. ugh!
EWC: Spot on! Ms. Warren. (she’s for all of us)!
CNN: He should be fired! Kudos to those helping the folks who are in pain, as well as the animals.
BFTP: Love it!
Hi, WWWendy! Hope that your discomfort goes away, and that you get to feeling better. We’ve got the crock pot going, and I rooting for my team….Hope that you have a good day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.
*This just in: Spoof Sign@ Armed Forces Career Center Brookly, NY – “I’m not enlisting – But you should.” ~Donald J. Trump, Jr. ~ *Davran S. & Jason S. ~
2. “Texas is the 1st state to reject new refugees under DT orders.” Frankly, I’m ashamed to live in this state that does this. Depressing and so sad. pb
3. “We didn’t say Nobel Prize, we said – “No bail. Surprised!” ~Sam M. ~
4. Looking at picture of dt – “Praise the Lard !” ~ Phillip B. ~
5. Dt’s MO is break or destroy something, then take credit for ‘fixing it’. “dt is now considering a nuclear agreement w/Iran that strangely enough, is just like the one President Obama enacted –the same one Drumpt ended.” ~ Maria H. ~
6. “It’s much easier to fool someone than it is to convince them that they have been fooled.” ~ Judy J. ~
5:40 Impressive.
This could come in handy if someone ever asks you why you, pr liberals in general, think Trump voters are stupid.
Cartoon – Hon, in those days the Democrats WERE the Republicans.
DKC – Steve King has no one to blame but his mouth for being thought racist.
EWC – What a difference from the previous video. Night and Day (apologies to night.)
CNN – I am struck by the fact that an Australian PM who is barely distinguishable from a Trump Republican, nevertheless has the – balls? spine? remnants of decency? to request and investigation. It brings home just how low we have sunk.
Past – Yeah. I remember this. We need it again (still).
Yhis just in:
This whole Incel thing I understand and don’t understand.
I understand that if you engage in stupidly male behavior with women you will have problems developing relationships of ANY kind with women. I DON’T understand how that’s not understood. – tp
Cartoon: I could not even imagine leaving in a county where women didn’t have rights. I would of been protesting from the very beginning.
DKC: Don’t you love the way these cronies blame everyone else for their evilness??? I know that most repugs don’t seem to be able to use their brain mainly because they don’t have one or lost it when then started following their evil leader.
EWC: She knows and understands people’s feelings. Bless her for that. Too bad the R’s can’t.
CNN: I agree he should be fired. Sad how so many leaders have lost the reason of why they were placed in their positions. When they have, they need to be removed. Bless all of the firefighters/rescuers for going there to help.
BFTP: Remember them very well.
Hope you can continue eating and keeping it down. I will continue praying that you get to feeling better.
Enjoy your visit with Wendy. Tell her Hello.
Take care. Thanks TomCat
“Sad how so many leaders have lost the reason of why they were placed in their positions.”
Even sadder how many were placed in their positions by big money, not the voters, and haven’t lost that reason at all.
3:50 Oh no, I hope that Macaw doesn’t give you more heartburn, TomCat.
Cartoon: This was before Democrats and Republicans switched places, wasn’t it?
DK: I couldn’t watch more than a minute or so of this idiotic reasoning. White Nationalists didn’t call themselves that while acting as White Nationalists, did they? There had to be a lot of racism about that was quantifiable before it could be labelled White Nationalism, Mr King. I doubt very much that King made more sense after that minute, so I stopped wasting my time watching another pot calling an innocent kettle black.
EW: Nobody should go bankrupt over medical problems and nobody should make millions providing healthcare in one form or another or providing healthcare ‘insurance’. Elizabeth Warren has a plan to take care of both. All she needs is a chance to put that plan to work.
CNN: Scomo has gotten where he is now as leader of the coalition of Liberals and Nationals (= American Republicans) by a coup which kicked out a much more capable Malcolm Turnbull because the latter was far too progressive on almost anything but the economy than his own party. The coup was a very sordid business indeed and the Liberals/Nationals made sure their leader can’t be fired like this again. Not that the coalition would fire him, because Scomo is doing exactly what they want him to do: play puppet to the fossil fuel industry and the rest of the 1%. The trouble is that this is the second year of Scomo’s three-year reign and we have two more years to go before we can vote him out. It turned out that Aussies are just as susceptible to scare tactics and (job)carrots as Americans are and left their brain at home when they went to the polls end 2018. Though the coalition won’t budge on Climate Change, they’ll probably win again in two years time. and with the same leader.
BFTP: I have heard this song it once or twice, but as it wasn’t a hit in Europe I have no further recollection associated with it.
‘Toon: The cultural bias against women is still strong enough to keep the ERA unratified, and then some. And Dumpy’s rhetoric does not help.
Y/T: King is a dick, period.
Liz: Still my first choice.
CNN: Yes, Morrison could have handled his brain a bit better, like throwing it out in exchange for a working model.
Past: What? Genocide? Us? But, we’re the good guys, right?
Throughout our lives we all deserve a bit of luck … and realize to NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!
Chiefs defeat of Texans now in Top 10 of Comeback Victories!
Excuse me if I brag & strut a bit – because this game is one for the ages!
So let’s take a look at a few of the highlights:
AND a wonderfully “sad” PSA announcement for us Chiefs fans:
LOL! You shouldn’t be shooting off fireworks anyway, due to climate change. The team should get some of that wonderful lighting you wrote about last week and turn it on and off to celebrate. Congratulations (and, sorry, Pat)!
Yeah….did ya hear me screaming and hollering? It was painful to watch. What a bummer & I’m bummed out too.
I felt confident with a 24 point lead, at the start…and then it went to hell for ‘my boys, but they kept trying.
The better team won by playing well, kudos and Congratulations to KC and their fans. 51-31
Congrats Nameless, and to your team.
(really!) lol
51-31 doesn’t even sound like a football score – more like baslketball. That really must have been some game!
Nameless, I turned it off at 24-0. I came back to chech at halftime, and had ti change my under shorts. Kudos to your guys. 🏈
Sorry you still have symptoms…ginger tea helps me whenever I get around to taking it…and yes, I kick myself for not doing it sooner (like when I thought I was out and wasn’t)…
At least the US didn’t stay stuck on the vote as long as Switzerland (1971)–yet I also note DNC and other Dem Party organizations seem pretty silent on pushing for ERA ratification–haven’t seen them mentioned as among those who worked/are working on VA ratification, for example…
I read a headline saying something to the effect of White Nationalist Objects to Being Called a White Nationalist…enough said…
Liz is good with people, compassion on domestic issues–had a couple early major fails on foreign policy when she trotted out neoliberal myths, like on Gaza where the ICC has just begun the process for holding Israel accountable on war crimes. She has demonstrated very little understanding of unneeded defense funds (e.g., nothing on the prior year unspent funds not being returned by the Pentagon as required by law, etc.) or developed foreign policies–and the next POTUS has a myriad of foreign policy quagmires to clean up or recent Iran events will sound like child’s play in comparison. She would be great as VP or a senator spearheading getting her proposals through the Senate. Does anyone know how many more deaths delaying Medicare for All for three years would have vs. upon taking office? Or how many the cost of public option would be unaffordable (the administrative savings not yet available to do those price reductions)? Also, all environmental organizations saw her climate change proposals fall short of sufficient to solve the problem…and she has not responded with needed improvements…and finally, her promise on corporate donations was limited to the primary–no promise not to sell corporations rights to her actions should she be the nominee.
I’ve seen Australian press holding Morrison accountable in a way US media refuses to do to Trump…also a report Morrison refused a Danish offer of air tankers to help fight the fires…
Nameless–the football element I noted recently was that the 49ers didn’t embarrass the Vikings near so much as the Raiders did when they met in the Superbowl in the 1970’s…
It is indeed time for nations forced onto reservations to return and be heard on how to care for our land, water and wildlife in sustainable ways which mitigate fires, floods, et al.
Thanks and harried, late, OGIM Hugs to all!
A Chiefs story I saw this morning especially for Nameless:https://www.huffpost.com/entry/chiefs-fan-leaves-early-comeback_n_5e1c41f4c5b6640ec3d74132
