Nancy Pelosi and the appropriate Committee heads held a news conference this morning announcing the two Articles of Impeachment that the plan to submit to the house Thursday. Since it’s Trump, one must ask, is the fat in the fire? Almost!
House Democrats unveiled two narrowly drawn articles of impeachment against President Trump on Tuesday, saying he had abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in its investigation of his conduct regarding Ukraine.
“We must be clear: No one, not even the president, is above the law,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a news conference where he was flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other House leaders.
At the heart of the Democrats’ case is the allegation that Trump tried to leverage a White House meeting and military aid, sought by Ukraine to combat Russian military aggression, to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch an investigation of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, as well as a probe of an unfounded theory that Kyiv conspired with Democrats to interfere in the 2016 presidential election… RESIST!!

Special Report: Democratic leaders announce articles of impeachment against Trump
I chopped the dead time from the beginning. I’m certain that the full House will be voting to impeach the Fuhrer soon. Then the fat will be in the fire.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Yes, that will be the ribbon on the package. He must then go down in history as an impeached president.
And I will bet actual money and maybe a couple of body parts that there will STILL be people asking when he is going to be impeached, signing petitions to impeach him, and insisting that he hasn’t been impeached because he’s still in the White House, isn’t he? And complaining that the Democrats are doing/have done nothing or not enough, or too littie too late. And I doubt anyone here is willing to take that bet.
(Not trying to imply that such people would be bird brains. Birds are smarter.)
Awesome, awesome!!!! History in the making ..
Tickled blue that this has commenced.
Saw Nadler’s little speech, and am very pleased. I’m a little disappointed that there are only 2 articles, but that is enough, I guess. I wish he could be impeached for the vast mount of lies, and disinformation; for violating the emoluments clause of the constitution; for delusional driven behavior, above and beyond belief!
I’m fine with having him indicted -later – on all the charges he’s racked up. I’m not particular about how many articles of impeachment there are.
If those two articles are enough to impeach Trump, so be it. It’s nice and tidy, not Trumpian over the top. The debate on more or fewer articles of impeachment will never be concluded. If there were more, and the process would have dragged on longer, the Republicans would use it as an indication that the left is out to get Trump; if there were just one, the Republicans would use it as an indication that Democrats have nothing to go on if this is all they got.
One or ten articles, it doesn’t really matter. The GOP and the White House will deny it all, no matter how many. Trump will be impeached on just these two, but not removed from office. And as happened for impeached Bill Clinton, there is a chance impeached Trump will be re-elected too. So at this point, I’m wondering what is going to happen to all those who aided Trump with abusing his power of office and obstructing Congress in its investigations. Are they going to be impeached or prosecuted? And will this prevent Trump from re-appointing Pence and Barr to their offices should he win in 2020?
Like all of you, I want – at the minimum – this scourge have “IMPEACHED” forever linked to his Oval Office occupancy.
But I’m warming to a suggestion by John Dean (yeah, THAT John Dean) to impeach tRump — but NOT send it to the Senate? It certainly seems like it has some favorable points.
[1] Avoids a sham “kangaroo court” exoneration in the Senate
[2] Addresses the GOP whine “The process is going too fast”
[3] Allows for new charges if the courts uphold Democrats’ subpoenas and key “fact witnesses” are compelled to testify
[4] Gives McConnell a dose of his own medicine of sitting on 250+ bills passed by the House
[5] Will drive Trump even MORE bonkers

John Dean is brilliant, actually, and I trust they will consider that. Speaker Pelosi is not tone deaf, nor are the other committee chars, I have faith that whatever they decide to do will be the right thing.
Update:
You may have seen this at Raw Story or AlterNet under the title of “I thought Democrats were making a giant mistake on impeachment. But these experts changed my mind.” I decided to track it back to the original.
Wonderful news.
Sounds like we are getting so much closer to finally have this rotten idiot out of office and hopefully behind bars soon.
It certainly will make our 2020 much brighter.
Feel bad today. Hump day hugs!
Hope you get to feeling better, TomCat – I’ll send healing vibes.
Meanwhile, the champagne is chilling.
