Cast a Wide Net?

So far, House Democrats are trying to limit the Impeachment hearings to just Trump and just Ukraine.  However, I’ve heard several progressives surmise that, when the articles ho to the Senate, Bought Bitch Moscow Mitch will run a brief show trial that will acquit Putin’s Craven Criminal.  And while the country says, “Ho. Hum.”, the Fuhrer will immediately extort the Grand Poobah of Outer Slobovia to manufacture dirt on potential Democratic nominees.  There ate other alternatives.  They are to pursue members of the House and Senate and to pursue the Vice Resident, Barrf, and cabinet members.

1123conspirators

Lev Parnas, an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, helped arrange meetings and calls in Europe for Rep. Devin Nunes in 2018, Parnas’  lawyer Ed MacMahon told The Daily Beast.

Nunes aide Derek Harvey participated in the meetings, the lawyer said, which were arranged to help Nunes’ investigative work. MacMahon didn’t specify what those investigations entailed.

Nunes is the top Republican on the House committee handling the impeachment hearings—hearings where Parnas’ name has repeatedly come up….

Here’s a better explanation.

New details In Lev Parnas’ Reported Effort To Help Devin Nunes

In addition to Nunes, the House and Senate abound with co-conspirators who ate enabling Trump to committing High Crimes and Misdemeanors, by helping him evade responsibility for them.  In addition, Pence, Barrf, Mulvaney, Pompeo, Perry and more are cabinet co-conspirators.  Going after these groups could keep Republican crimes in the public eye for months.

I’m undecided.  Which to you prefer: keep it simple stupid or cast a wide net?

  1. Like I’ve been saying, the hole gets deeper and deeper and wider and wider.
The R’s are nasty consistent though, aren’t they? ugh!

  2. McConnell will stop at nothing to protect the present order of things, but, with SCOTUS”s Roberts, presumably overseeing the “trial” in the senate, maybe, MAYBE, there is some glimmer of hope.  Otherwise we will be living in the Land of the Orange Mafia, with all those pictured dirtbags as the “enforcers.”
That is a hell of a question!  I’d just love to see all these bastards catch some well deserved karma, in the justice system, but the process may seriously tax the capacity of the population to maintain attention.  At the least, the impeachment inquiry ought to stick to the apparently 4 indictments we have heard are coming.  Beyond that, Rudy, and henchmen, need prosecuting.  The crowd in the photo montage need to be targeted in any upcoming elections.
Sorry for being so long-winded, especially in th other position for today.  I could have just said “Burn the Bastards!”

  3. Nunes got a 2nd challenger about a month ago. His Ukraine travel with staff (like $60k worth) is public record.Graham announced Biden Ukraine investigation in Senate this week.Trump offered major campaign funds to those GOP senators believed most likely to vote to impeach (bribery?)…Collins and Romney included in his lunch courting.  A group of senate jurors invited to plan Trump defense in Senate…heavy sigh

  4. I’d prefer they narrow down the Articles of Impeachment for trump, but cast a wide net for all his henchmen. I simply do not believe Moscow Mitch now the other republican ass kissers will seriously consider convicting trump. We go after trump’s minions, there’s increased chance a couple of them will sell him out.
Another reason to go after the Orange Bastard’s minions, is that the republican controlled senate is going after the Bidens and anyone else they consider serious opposition to trump. With Lindsey Graham “investigating” the Bidens for no real reason, the Second Civil War everyone worries about has already started.
I think Russia has a “law” that prevents anyone accused of corruption from running for elected office. Expect trump to propose such a law if the republicans somehow regain the House and keep the Senate.

    • The way you worded that Russian “law,” it sounds like the Russian legal system may be based on the Napoleonic model (including the presumption of guilty until proven innocent.)  That alone is – not exactly good for democracy.

  5. I’ve been reading what I could about this in the time I have had, which hasn’t been much True indeed that all those in Congress must be not just removed from Congress and shamed, but prosecuted and imprisoned. Along with – as it goes without saying – those officials OUTSIDE of Congress who also enabled and co-conspired.

In view of the fact that Orange Judas didn’t actually care whether there was an investigation conducted, only that there was one announced, I’m not 100% convinced he bought the story “hook, line, and sinker.” He may, or someone who advises him may, simply have seen an opportunity to manufacture swamp water to smear his perceived opponent(s) with. Who needs investigation when there’s innuendo?

At this point, just about everything we do is a crap shoot. Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi are, IMO, in the best positions to make decisions abut what and, maybe evn more importantly, when.

Props to Swalwell, incidentally. Another real patriot.

  6. There’s possibly a large gap between what needs to happen – get all of them behind bars – and what is politically opportune at this point. As Trump is not going to be removed from office by these Republicans, they might just as well be indicted as co-conspirators in this farce. It’ll keep them on their toes and might even hurt them in the 2020 election.

  7. What continues to keep going on with tRump and his repugs is despicable. They have gotten away with so much evil, makes you wonder what direction our country is heading???
nUmes, jOrdan, lIndsey, mItch and the rest, need to be removed too.
We know damn well if Obama or any other previous president did even one of what tRump has done, they would has them place behind bars.
Yesterday tRump had his luncheon with all of his repugs. All mobsters with their illegal plans.
Today, tRump has been be sitting on his flippin a*s tweeting fowl play against the Democrats.
He hasn’t done one honest real thing that a leader is suppose to do. Nor has these repug senators.
Hopefully after these hearings it will get tRump and his cronies locked up for a long time.

  8. We’re gonna need a VERY, VERY wide net for all of these creeps!

  9. While my heart says, “Cast A Wide Net” – my brain tells me: “KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid”!

Polls indicate that even the Impeachment Hearings, with their impeccable witnesses and facts, are losing a small amount of support w/ independents wanting legislators to get back to legislating.

Granted, Speaker Pelosi has led the House in sending over 250 bills to the Senate – where Moscow Mitch “Grim Reaper” McConnell has promised he’s just going to sit on them.  But perception doesn’t always (maybe rarely) reflect reality.

WRT your Rogues Gallery of malefactors, I don’t recognize a couple of them – so I hope you’ll help me out.

    Top Row:

    McConnell – Graham – McCarthy – Nunes – ??? – Paul

    Bottom Row:

    Gaetz – Ratcliffe – Jordan – Rubio – Scott – ???

  10. I haven’t had time to review your article yet (I was sicker than a dog yesterday and unable to concentrate) but here is a related article from AlterNet: The Road to Expulsion: here’s a timeline of Devin Nunes clandestine operations on the House intelligence committee.

    Oh the Republican subterfuge!

I will be back to read and comment later.

  11. Thanks and hugs to all.  I kind of like the way Beach put it.  KISS for Trump, but, when we get a Democrat in the White house, replace Barrf with an honest AG, who will indict all his minions.  30
