Here is the one hundred sixty-sixth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Trump sycophant and Republican Senate hopeful, Corey Lewandowski. He is so honored for vile, aggressive, demeaning behavior, while perjuring himself before the House Judiciary Committee.

0918LewCorey Lewandowski refused to answer questions, talked over lawmakers and mocked Democrats for their investigation of President Trump. He lectured a congressman for saying the tooth fairy wasn’t real, ribbed another for a failed presidential bid and even promoted a potential run for the U.S. Senate

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed Trump’s former campaign manager, hoping to learn more about his testimony to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III in the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Instead, they got a front-row seat Tuesday to the Lewandowski Show — a performance aimed at an audience of one: his former boss

Trump, who was watching, applauded Lewandowski on Twitter, writing that he gave a “beautiful” opening statement. But Lewandowski’s defiance and disregard for Democrats’ impeachment inquiry also prompted a contempt threat from Democrats.

“Mr. Lewandowski, your behavior in this hearing room has been completely unacceptable,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said. “You have shown the public that the Trump administration will do anything and everything in its power to obstruct the work of the Congress.”…

The most complete coverage I found for this story was from Lawrence O’Donnell.

Fmr. Federal Prosecutor: Lewandowski “May Have Perjured Himself”

Lewandowsky did perjure himself, in addition to Contempt of Congress.

That is more than enough for this award, his second.  He earned his first on 6/20/2018 for shaming a 10 rear old refugee with Downs Syndrome.  He’s Republican through and through!

  1. It would be contemptible if the house did not hold him in contempt!
I just found this interesting piece, on Alternet, about Trumpism, a sociological take thereupon:
    https://www.alternet.org/2019/09/trumps-supporters-want-chaos-and-destruction-when-their-bad-drug-high-finally-wears-off-it-wont-be-pretty/

    • Oh, yeah, I read that.  I’m pretty sure I saved it too.  As the wife of an alcoholic, and friend of many others and other addicts of various kinds,  my big questions are:

      1.  How the heck do you design a detox and a recovery program for this addiction?

      2.  Having done the impossible and designed it, how the heck do you get them into the programs?

Our long national nightmare won’t be over as fast as maybe we had hoped.

  2. Over at Democratic Underground, where I am finding that the constituency, while comprising different individuals, is overall not too different from that at, say, Daily Kos, a member using the name “StarfishSaver” posted this:

Don’t buy the hype. The Democrats did more than fine today

They got Lewandowski to admit on the record that he told Mueller everything Mueller says he told him. In other words, Mueller didn’t make any of that ish up.

And then they got him to admit that Donald Trump asked him, a private citizen, to communicate to the attorney general that he should unrefuse himself from an investigation of the president and lie to the American public about it.

All the other stuff people are obsessing about – including the Republicans and Lewandowski songs and dances – is just noise.

The Democrats did a good job today.

    • This is just too clever not to share – the same person at Democratic Underground added this post:

Democrats reminded me of the country boy who shows up in the big city pool hall

claiming to not know anything about the game but once he gets the stakes high enough open his case and pulls out his two-piece custom-made pearl-handled monogram pool cue and proceeds to run table.

People were underestimating the Democrats all afternoon and then they whipped out their version of a two-piece custom-made pool cue, aka Barry Berke, who deftly wiped the floor with Lewandowski, took all his money and, just for fun, stole his drawers without removing his pants.

  3. I got my coffee and sat down to watch the ‘show’ on C-Span! From start to finish.
This is the 30 minute clip after the questioning of Lewandowski, glad Mr. Berke is on our team.
    Definitely worth watching….

  4. These days it seems that rectal-cranial coincidence is a necessity to be a Republican. I am speaking as an ex-Republican.

  5. I watch some of it yesterday, and seeing that he was there to please his precious leader by not answering the questions made me made.
No one should be able to act so ignorant at these type of hearings.
Seeing that tRump tweeted that Lewandowski saying  “Such a beautiful Opening Statement by Corey Lewandowski! Thank you Corey!” lets me know that he satisfied tRump.
    Truly despicable.

  6. After many years here on PP, being taught all there is to know about Republicans, followed by nearly four years of Trumpism, I would have thought nothing Trump and his cronies did could make my jaw come in painfull contact with my keyboard. Yet my chin now has a ‘g’, an ‘h’ and a ‘b’ embedded in it after my jawbone was cruelly pulled from its socket and landed below. Yep, those Trumpians will manage to surprise us for a long time to come.

  7. Thanks and pooped Hugs to all! 39

  8. I have been reading plenty about Lewandowski and the congressional hearing.  Pelosi has reportedly said by her spokesperson Ashley Etienne:

“The Speaker went on to say that he could have been held in contempt right then and there,” Etienne added, noting …

I agree with her.  This contemptible individual should be held in contempt of Congress.

    • Contemptuous and contemptible both.  But he can only stay locked up by the House as long as the House is in session, and they’re due for a recess.  If they hold him in contempt the day they return in October, they canhold him locked up for a couple of weeks.  That may or may not be what they have in mind, but it was mentioned and I thought I’d bring it up here.
