It’s a sleepy day, here at the CatBox. n In fact I overslept.  WWWendy should be here in less than half an hour.  The draft went well for me yesterday.  The site rated me at A-, best in our league.  The first game is Thursday night, so players, set you lineups for week 1.  This is my only article today.  Holy Ellipsoid Orb hugs to all.  WWWendy just left (12:30).  I took the time to help her set her team for Thursday, but have had no time to do mine. Smile with tongue out

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:34 (average 4:55).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Take:

From YouTube (a blast from the past): 1963 TV Concert: ‘It’s The Beatles’ Live

From the first minute of the first time I heard the first song, I was hooked. Ah… the memories!  RESIST!!

  1. 4:56 This late in the summer, that looks seasonal (unless that particular DYC is a fall bloomer.)

Clearly your mind is already in Ellipsoid Orb season. All the blessings to you.

You may have read an interview with Penn Jillette, in which he says (among other things) that Orange Judas has no “enjoyment or understanding of music.” I immediately thought of what Shakespeare said in the Merchant of Venice: “The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Mark the music.” Shakespeare nailed, it, didn’t he.

Cartoon – Oh, it’s that good?

I was not hooked that fast. My freshman-year-college roommate had to forcibly sit me down and play “Here, There, and Everywhere,” with its riff that sounds like something J.S. Bach would have written if her were alive in the 1960’s. THEN I was hooked.

    • Most excellent quote, JD. Shakespeare could really pinpoint human nature, even that of the most depraved of men.

The Beatles admitted being inspired by J.S. Bach for some of their songs or riffs. “Blackbird” for instance was inspired by Bach’s Bourrée from his E Minor Lute Suite, BWV 996. Some, like John Bayless, even turned the tables on them 😁

    • Shakespeare sure hit the mark, eh!

    • Love the syncopation in that tune. 28

  2. Cartoon: The rooster has blown away, imho.
    YT: What a treat!!! thx!
Bahamas are getting slammed right now, and FL w/be getting some of the residue on upwards the eastern coast. See link below:

Hi Wendy!! Hope that you get your rest, and to enjoy the rest of your day..Thanks, Tom for post.

*This just in: “Odd, isn’t it, that dt won’t show tweets of his notes of meetings w/Putin, but will show the entire world the Iranian space facility… taken by a satellite or drone and could contain highly sensitive information.” ~Tammy J. ~
    2. “Texas! … Again!!” ~pb~
    3. “Geesh! At this point of his presidency, I’ll even take a tweeted Resignation from him.” ~ Gretchen B. ~

  3. Cartoon: I agree with Pat, that the Rooster blew away.
YT: Always loved the Beatles. They were my favorite group. Thanks for the memories, TC.
Glad to hear that your fantasy football picks went so well.
I’m more into baseball, which I know the season will be over in another couple of months.
Hope the rest of your day went well.
    Take care.

  4. 3:33 Really. But I didn’t think you’d be interested in eating it anyway.

Cartoon: Not only is it primitive, but it’s also rusted in place. For Republicans, the wind is always blowing favourably for them and against everyone else.

YT: I remember the songs of course, but not with particular memories from 1963. I was only seven at the time, and this wouldn’t be music my mother would have playing on the radio.

Good luck with the Ellipsoid Orb, fantasy or real, TomCat.

  5. Dorian is turning out to be a real monster. 03  I hope that I am far enough inland to escape the worst of the storm. Hurricanes can cause awful floods, wind and even tornadoes hundreds of kilometers inland.

  6. Puzzle — 4:55  Achoo!!!

YouTube — 1963 — That was when I was 11 years old and absolutely forbidden to listen to such music at home.  I had to listen during clandestine visits to a friend’s house.  Look at those hair cuts and styles.  I can almost see the pin curl hair clips.  I really had to snicker at one very young concert goer who looked about and seemed totally disinterested.

Cartoon — That is about speed to the non science believers.

Speaking of non science believers, Dolt 45 commented at the time of Maria and Irma that he had never heard of a category 5 hurricane . . . did not know they existed.  Anyone remember Katrina in 2005?  Yup category 5.  Today, the dolt said that he might have heard of a cat 5 but had never seen one.  Well Dorian is either the third or fourth cat 5 hurricane since Dolt 45 has been in office.  I’ve a sack of rocks with more brains than Dolt 45!

Puerto Rico was spared but the Bahamas is getting hammered.  Monday it is supposed to hit the US mainland.  I pray that all affected will be safe.

Is there anything like a surgical strike hurricane?  If so, perhaps it could batter Mar-a-Lago.

  7. Thank you all,for your intersting comments and articles.😺😸

  8. Rooster best not have been in the Bahamas!
Beatles: Hooked right away, also.  I thought that was a British audience, and that one younger boy seems to have been blown away, in awe, of the noise being created around him!  “Shake…” was splayed on a NYC radio station that we stream on our Google Hub, just the other day.
The other Shake… Willy, was so spot on!!!!

  9. Lynne: Dolt 45 knows nothing that he didn’t already learn, maybe, by 4th grade…the res he just makes up.

  10. Thanks and Holiday Hugs to all! 28

  11. I was an army brat in Germany when “I wanna hold your hand” came out. I had gone to the PX and found two Beatles albums there. I didn’t know who they were. I bought one of them and after playing it, I could hardly sleep that night, because I just HAD to get the other album. I had never heard anything like them. I was hooked! I still have every one of their albums.

  12. Hello, TomCat. I haven’t had a chance to get back on here to get on the FF. Do you still need anyone to play? Let me know and I would be glad to play! I still have the same email, if you have it. I can’t figut out what C2 is doin now. They are weird. I’m on the FB group that is former C2 members. I’ll try to keep up with you on here cause I couldn’t find a way to get into my messages on C2.
Hope your weather is gettin cooler! We aren’t quite cool yet. We had a week of temps in the high 80’s, but that didn’t last long. And it was accompanied by some nasty storms. It’s right back up there to 95 and heat index around 100++. 😑
Take care, TC! Talk at ya later!!

    • Hi Viv,  I just emailed you.  Did you get it?

C2 is peticians only,  but mewe has a refugee grout called Care2share.
