It’s another tired day here in the CatBox.  I woke up and could not get back to sleep.  Tomorrow please expect no more than a Personal Update with no links messages on Care2.  I have a meeting with a prison volunteer friend.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:10 (average 5:06).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From YouTube (MSNBC Channel): White Nationalist Domestic Terror Reaches Crisis Point For U.S.

These murders should be called Republican White Nationalist Domestic Terror, because Republicans are the ones who aid and abet the hatred that gives rise to them. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): How Fox pushed the white supremacist “replacement” conspiracy theory

Barf Bag Alert!!

This is pure bullshit, as the path to citizenship is long and hard. But what else could we expect from the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise? RESIST!!

From The New Yorker: There is a “significant link” between gun violence and cowardly politicians, a new study from the University of Minnesota asserts.

The study, which is raising eyebrows with its startling conclusions, finds that the most reliable predictor of gun violence is the “prevalence of quiveringly fearful politicians in positions of power.”…

…While the study’s authors paint a bleak picture of nations with “coward-rich” leadership, they offer a recommendation to remedy this dire state of affairs.

“While censoring movies or video games would have no measurable effect on gun violence, major strides can be made by replacing cowards in government with non-cowards,” the study suggests, noting that this theory could be tested as early as 2020.

Dang Andy! Who could have ever guessed? RESIST!!

  1. 5:26 Tongue-out Tuesday, I see.

Rachel – You know that this was predicted BEFORE the election. Those experts are experts, but by this time, anyone with any tiny amount of common sense could predict more terrorism. Even Republicans, I believe, can predict it, but are expressing willful blindness because they WANT more terrorism.

F Carlson – You know, any place I have ever worked, anyone who wanted to be irreplaceable would behave in such a way as to become indispensable. In other words, be the smartest, the hardest working, the most motivated, the most creative, the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Anyone who started shooting people would be replaced so fast that if he blinked, he’s miss it. Republicans are making themselves dispensable with numbing predictability – and unfortunately, are making replacements increasingly necessary. What universe are they living in? Bizarro Universe? Opposite Universe?

TNY – Straight news again. I might just note that, as I said above, it’s those who are the most fearful of being replaced who are doing the most to make their replacement necessary.

Cartoon – What a hell on earth THOSE good intentions brought about.

    RESIST AND PERSIST !!!

  2. MSNBC: Rachel is spot on re: this crisis of the mass shootings….my heart breaks over this !!

BBA: Indeed. I just can’t.Nope, nope nope!!

    NYer: Word !!

Hope that you get your rest, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

*This just in: “At this point, Republicans in Congress are functionally invertebrate. They deserve all the ignoring heaped on them.” ~ Patrick H. ~
    2. CNN tried to interview 50 GOP congressmen about the 2 shootings. Only ONE (Jed Yoho, Fl.,) spoke about possible legislation Congress could enact following the deadly shootings.” ~ CNN ~

    3. “Rest in Eternal Peace, Ms. Morrison.” pb

    *Joanne, your picture speaks volumes.

  3. Rachel: Is this what the Republican “Super Patriots” mean when they say that America is “Exceptional?”   Might something change in this government?  Does Moscow Mitch have a say in it?  Is the “Resident” capable of turning himself inside out?  Would he want to?   Maybe something can change in the broader culture, bringing pressure on the Rethuglicans.  Did I say “Maybe?”
BBA: Not me either.  “Not gonna go there.”
New Yorker: Now, there is a man with an idea!
‘Toon: Yup!  That, it seems, was the main reason to drop the bombs!

  4. I think Harry Truman has an appropriate sarcastic response:

  5. To say that white supremacist/nationalist domestic terror has reached a crisis point is an understatement, if ever there was one. Our so-called POTUS is encouraging it, and he probably knows it, but Donny crack corn and he don’t care.

The time is way, way, way overdue for sensible gun control. 20 years after the Columbine bloodbath, we haven’t done squat. We keep coming closer and closer, and now is the time to finally bridge that final centimeter. We The People need to rise up in huge numbers, we need to march and protest, and we also need to take advantage of the NRA’s current weakness.

  6. Puzzle — 4:36  The look on that pup’s face says “You don’t really want to eat me do you Puddy Tat?”  Have a heart.  Let him be!  After all, he IS a Democrat.  The dog catcher is the Republican!

MSNBC — Words fail me.  How can a nation which started out 237 years ago with such promise look at itself in a mirror and be satisfied with itself as it is today?  I lay this debacle squarely at the feet of Trump who has done everything to encourage hatred.  He and Republican enablers (and anyone else that sits on their hands) need to be stopped.  Caucasian Americans are European stock . . . immigrants!  Trump is himself a second generation American on his father’s side and first generation on his mother’s.  Perhaps he should be deported.

    Media Matters —

           right wing bullshit

The New Yorker — AMEN Andy!!! . . . non cowards and people with good morals!

Cartoon — FDR may have said “A that will live in infamy!” about 07/12/1941.  However, I say that the day that the US dropped the atomic bombs — 06/08/1945 on Hiroshima and 09/08/1945 on Nagasaki — are days that will live on in infamy, more so than 07/12/1941.

OMG!!!  It has been so hot here and humid.  Sunday went up to 34C (93F) but I am not sure about yesterday as I did not go out.  But last evening, my clothes were soaking wet from the heat and humidity.  I hate summer heat!!!  I will find out later just how hot it is today.  I am very hot right now but at least I am not soaked . . . yet.  There appears to be a fair wind judging by the trees.

  7. 4:03 I’m a cat person, but this is such a lovely pooch.

MSNBC: After another mass shooting with all the hallmarks of domestic terrorism, some media, and even some Republicans on state level now dare to call it by its real name: White Nationalistic Domestic Terrorism. But that’s as far it will go; this administration will never call it that, Republicans will never call it that, and their orange leader will certainly not call it that.

MM: Each and everyone of those ranting in those clips did so with fear in their eyes and cold sweat on their brow. Fear of their lives? Fear for the average American? Hell, no; fear of losing their job as TV host or commenter, or as federal or state Congressman because there won’t be enough viewers or voters who’ll keep them in their jobs, even if no immigrants were ever allowed in. The white majority will soon be a minority and they better accept it.

    TNY: Startling conclusions indeed…🤣🤣🤣

  8. TC…it dawns on me just now that I have NO IDEA what you do at the prison.  Volunteering there must be a challenge…how do you help?

  9. (Cut myself off)…..  How did you train for this?

  10. YT: Rachel was right on. These gun killings are way beyond massive. They must take steps to put an end to them NOW.
BBA: Agree with you, TC that it’s pure bull sh*t.
    NY: Agree with Lynn.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad night. Hope it gets better for you.

  11. Thanks and Hurry Hugs to all. 23
