Newsβ endless attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
It’s a chilly day here in the CatBox. I woke up in the middle of the night and could not sleep, so I feel very tired. Tomorrow is a very busy WWWendy day, so please expect only a Personal Update or an Open Thread with no links messages on Care2.
Jig Zone Puzzle:
Today’s took me 2:26 (average 4:30). To do it, click here. How did you do?
Short Takes:
From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Fox Newsβ endless attacks on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Barf Bag Alert!!
The bizarre antics of the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, make it abundantly clear that AOC is a significant force for good in the US. RESIST!!
From YouTube (Bernie Sanders Channel): Bernie & Civil Rights in Chicago
Kudos to Bernie for his youthful activism. Like him, I was also arrested demonstrating in Chicago. It was in August, 1968. Bernie remains in my top three for 2020. RESIST!!
From Daily Kos: In a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on insulin prices Wednesday, Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and fellow lawmakers blasted manufacturers and drug industry intermediaries for creating a situation in which as much as a quarter of the population with diabetes is rationing and skimping on lifesaving doses of the drug because of cost.
“I don’t know how you people sleep at night,” Schakowsky told the panel. “I just want you to know your days are numbered.” Lawmakers heard from patients with diabetes as well, including 28-year-old Kristen Whitney Daniels, who was kicked off her parents’ insurance plan when she reached 26, and started rationing insulin then. “Nobody cared or nobody understood that without this next vial of insulin, I wouldn’t live to see another week. [β¦] I can’t really explain how isolating and how terrifying it is.”
It’s also totally unnecessary and completely unjustified. The man who discovered insulin nearly 100 years ago, Frederick Banting, refused to patent the drug under his name. With his co-inventors James Collip and Charles Best, he sold the patent for $1 to the University of Toronto, because they rejected the idea that people who needed this new wonder drug to survive would not be able to afford it. Since then, this drug that has been around since 1923 has become a potent symbol of corporate greed and everything wrong with our healthcare system. Pharmaceutical companies are holding diabetes patients hostage just because they can, because they can get away with continuing to jack up prices and profits.
It has to change. After I fall through the Medicare donut hole, my insulin costs me over $1,000 for a three month supply. My Advair costs even more! RESIST!!

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
3:50 I know pooties chase lizards, but do you actually eat them?
Fox – Exactly what they did to Hillary. The only differences are that we are catching it at the start, and if we are smart (not guaranteed) maybe we can fight it before is gets out of control, and also that she is good with social media. Ilhan Omar is being similarly traduced, but, I think, could use more help.
Bernie – glad he is reminding us. People forget, and we need to remember stuff like this.
DK – I must point out that, if TC is falling into the donut hole, the damn hole comes too soon. No one who ises insulin should even be getting close to it. I don’t have diabetes, but I do take some medications I consider pricey, and I don’t even come close to it.
Cartoon – Good one.
BBA: Ugh! The more they talk about her (AOC) in this manner, the stronger she’ll become to lower the boom on these id’s.
Bernie: “Real change never takes place from the top on down, it always takes place from the bottom on up.” Well said, Bernie!!! Passing this one on…
DK: Something must be done about this! This is an absolute disgrace!
Cartoon: Scary!!
Hi, WWWendy! We had a strong storm come through, with good sized hail this morning. Hope that you have a good rest of your day, take good care, and Thanks, Tom.
*This just in: “dt is the arsonist who get credit for putting out the fire.” ~ Beto O’Rourke ~
MMC: What we have there is a schmuck, no, a bigoted schmuck, spewing crap!
BSC: “Absolutely!!”
DK: Another example of Capitalism gone crazy, rabid, and horrid. Do not forget, that before the GOP was owned by the NRA, it was owned by the insurance industry, a bus buddy of Big Pharma! It is just like Boeing charging more money to have those planes fly with ALL the needed safety devices! I’ve not heard of anyone in politics pointing that out!
*This just in: “dt is the arsonist who gets credit for putting out the fire.” ~ Beto O’Rourke ~ Well said!!
‘Toon: dt is the a**hole who should get the credit for encouraging and enabling these sick people! md.
3:05 More colour than our geckos
MM: Endless is the word, and mind numbing, which is exactly what Faux News is trying to achieve.
BS: Most of us here were activists when we were that age, and in our way we still are. But I gladly hand it over to the next generations and I think Bernie, and Biden, should do the same and take up their advisory roles where they can do an enormous amount of good.
DK: I rate these pharmaceutical moguls as I rate war criminals; they should be dragged before a (special) court and punished for their unconscionable behaviour.
Cartoon: Let’s keep it a very small minority and make their outreach impossible.
MM: When are these fools ever going to learn?? Talk such trash. Glad I don’t watch it.
BS: More power to Bernie. I was unaware that he was so involved that he was an activist in his younger years..Glad he’s ranking so high.
DK: Really is a shame how the U.S. has allowed these pharmaceutical creeps to do what they have done to the cost of medications. Especially ones that could mean life or death for the patient. Our country needs to fight back for the people. We need better medical and prescription protection plans NOW.
Puzzle — 4:19
Media Matters — Just the fact that Faux Noise and other right wing nut jobs are spending so much time obsessing about AOC must mean that she is doing something right! There is a whole lot of projection coming from Faux Noise morons.
Bernie Sanders — AMEN Bernie! All God’s children are equal, and we are all God’s children!
Daily Kos — AMEN Lona! To compare costs, I spend about $200 for 3 months of insulin and that is without Pharmacare. It would be less with Pharmacare. Americans are being taken advantage of by the pharmaceutical industry. Once I pay my deductible, I pay nothing for most of my prescriptions.
Cartoon — The American death squad brought to you by the Republican Reich.
Thanks and rushing hugs!
Take care of yourself Tom,in that cold catbox of yours, sending you a bit of warmth today..π€
Thanks Gillian!
