Here is the one hundred fifty-sixth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s winner is Republican Secretary of Labor and pervert enabler, Alex Acosta. He is so honored for letting billionaire pervert and Trump buddy, Jeffrey Epstein, to duck federal charges and avoid prison for trafficking underage sex slaves.
On Wednesday, Trump Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta appeared before a House Appropriations subcommittee to, in theory, testify about his department’s proposed 2020 budget. It was inevitable that Democrats were going to use the opportunity to demand answers of Acosta after recent revelations that he was the driver of an extraordinarily lenient 2007 plea deal for billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein that allowed Epstein to skirt federal charges entirely. In February, that plea deal was deemed improper by a federal court, ruling that Acosta’s team violated the Crime Victims’ Rights Acts.
Democratic Reps. Katherine Clark and Lois Frankel were not going to let Acosta skate through the hearing without addressing the simmering scandal.
“The judge found you broke the law, Mr. Acosta, when you chose not to tell the victims about this deal and you gave them the impression that the investigation was ongoing,’’ said Clark at the hearing. “Was the judge right?’’
Acosta attempted to pivot, but Clark continued. “I asked you a yes or no question,’’ she demanded.
Acosta was unwilling to say much of substance, aside from repeating his prior defenses that he takes sex trafficking “seriously” and that it was “the work of our office that made it so the world was put on notice that he is a sex offender.” That may have been a humiliation for Epstein, but it didn’t amount to much punishment; Epstein spent 13 months in county jail, but was allowed to leave the jail for up to 12 hours a day to conduct his business as normal… [emphasis added]

Lawrence O’Donnell has more detail.
There’s a special word to describe this Republican POS: typical! I bet Trump hopes Acosta will throw a pervert party for Trump, Epstein, Robert Kraft, Judge Roy Moore, Clarence Thomas, and Injustice Kava-Nazi.

Gawd, what a horrible man. Both, Epstein and Acosta should be in prison. For life!! Disgusting. I feel horrible for those victims. Video: dt is as vile and sickening as they are.
Some county jails do have work release. But they are jails, intended for people awaiting trial so technically not (yet) guilty. No prison could or would do that. Nor should. If Alex Acosta were in charge of the facility Pharma Bro is in, he’d probably have handed him a gold-plated iPhone to conduct his outside business. Fortunately, he’s not (and Shkreli is now in solitary, without his contraband phone.)
BBA: Incidentally, my local PBS station has a prize-winning investigative show which last night addressed child pornography. Apparently their databases of images and videos are now running into the millions of images. (I don’t know how they could even find time to look at them all.) But that’s not all – with phones with cameras so prevalent, they are starting to solicit children as young as ten (so far) to make pictures and videos themselves, of themselves. The program is called “Insight” and the lead investigator is John Ferrugia.
You need a vile prosecutor like Acosta to make a deal with a human trafficker and child rapist that turns a potential prison sentence of over 300 years into a 13 month stay in a prison hotel just for bed and breakfast. You need a vile Secretary of Labor like Acosta to cut the budget of the department responsible for child trafficking and abuse by nearly 80%. You need to be Drumpf to gather the vilest people in America, like Acosta, and appoint them to his cabinet and staff.
Truly despicable. Plea deals??? Pure evil bas*ards.
All criminals that need to be put in their proper place…prison.
Republican Family Values???
Donald Trump — the pussy grabber
Alex Acosta — the child trafficking enabler and apologist
Jeffrey Epstein — the child trafficking dirt bag
All three are despicable and not worth the air they breathe.
Thanks and Hugs to all!
